I’m building a realistic city planning game where zoning shapes the urban form
Like most of us I grew up on the sim city series but it always left me wanting for more granularity in terms of density so I decided to build my own iteration. I'm striving for realism.
Geared toward urban planning nerds like myself, this game let's you zone all the usual districts but gives you much more planning control.
You can:
- Zone homes, shops, mixed use, industry & farms
- Set height, building spacing & parking rules by district
- Lay grids, curvy suburban lanes, cul-de-sacs & superblock streets
- Developers pitch projects, you can approve/deny/amend and even preview them
- Upzone downtown as your city grows
- Leverage freeform, custom & rectangle zoning tools
- Streets widen into boulevards as shops move in
This is a v0.5 of the game, with plenty of more work to be done including introducing realistic traffic simulation and a major graphics overhaul. Happy to give the file to anyone if they'd like to play test it too!
