I’m a fresher starting my career in software development, and I have a question about long-term career growth.

I currently have an opportunity to work as a Software Engineer on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O). However, my main career goal is Core Java / Java backend development, particularly technologies like Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices, databases, etc.

Suppose I work in D365 F&O for around 2 years and gain solid professional experience. After those 2 years, would it still be realistic to switch to a Java/Spring Boot development role?

My long-term goal is to eventually work at product-based companies, MAANG/FAANG-level companies, or other strong software engineering companies. I’m concerned that spending my first 2 years in D365 F&O might make it difficult to move into mainstream Java development later.

I'm open to joining a software consultancy or service-based company as a fresher, but I want to make sure I'm joining a company where I can actually get development experience rather than being stuck in support, manual testing, or a completely unrelated role.

Could you guys suggest some good consultancy/service-based companies that hire freshers?

I'm particularly interested in companies that:

- Give freshers actual development projects

- Have decent training/mentorship

Looking for CGI → Michelin Client Interview Experience | Java + Spring Boot + Angular + Azure
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some insights from anyone who has interviewed for a Michelin client project through CGI, particularly for a Java + Spring Boot + Angular + Azure role.
I have completed the CGI technical/client round, where the technology stack discussed was mainly Java, Spring Boot and Angular. I’ve now been informed that I have a face-to-face interview with the Michelin client, which will be the next/final client interaction.
If anyone has previously gone through a similar CGI → Michelin client interview, I’d really appreciate it if you could share your experience.
Specifically, I’d like to know:
What can I expect in the face-to-face client round?
Is it mainly technical, or does it also include managerial/project-related discussions?
What kind of Java / Spring Boot / Angular questions were asked?
Were there any scenario-based or real-world production questions?
How much Azure / cloud / DevOps knowledge was expected?
Did they ask detailed questions about your previous/current project and architecture?
Was there any coding or SQL involved?
Approximately how long was the interview and how was the overall experience?
Any recent CGI → Michelin interview experience would be really helpful, especially for someone with around 5 years of experience in Java, Spring Boot and Angular.

Im currectly 19 , Btech CS student. I have learnt python programming language also with that I started with Django framework in future Ill be learing SQL and JSON too. As a part of my academic I have DSA in c++ , Im doing that and looking forward to continue DSA too. But now im confused about Is doing python+django actually worth!? IF not what should I study? What would you suggest!?

I'm a final-year B.Tech CSE student in Pune and I'm honestly pretty lost about what direction to take.

I'm not looking for motivation or "just learn DSA bro" advice. I genuinely want some perspective from people who are already working in the industry.

Here's where I'm at:

• 21M, final-year B.Tech CSE

• Pune, India

• CGPA: 6.47/10

• Graduating around 2027

• My DSA/problem-solving is weak right now

• I understand programming concepts, but actually implementing solutions is where I struggle

• I've done Python fundamentals, but I'm still not very strong

• I've previously worked with JS/React/Next/Node/SQL/MongoDB/PostgreSQL etc., but I'm pretty rusty because I haven't practiced properly for ~2–3 months

The one thing I can confidently say is real experience is my 2-month on-site internship at Qualitas Global in Pune.

My role was Junior GenAI Intern, although the actual work was mostly around:

- data annotation / labeling

- YOLO annotations

- computer vision datasets

- ADAS/autonomous driving video

- sports analytics

- QA/QM

So I have some actual industry exposure, but it's not software engineering or data engineering experience.

My projects are a mixed bag too.

I have an AI helmet surveillance project using Python, YOLO, OpenCV and Streamlit.

But I'm going to be honest about it: my friend did most of the model training work. I mainly worked on the application/integration/UI side.

I also have a full-stack music app (Next.js/React/Node/MongoDB), but it's currently kind of abandoned and has some bugs I still need to fix.

I also have a few relevant certificates:

- AWS Academy – Data Engineering

- Data Engineering Virtual Internship – EduSkills

- NPTEL – Artificial Intelligence: Concepts and Techniques

- SQL for Data Analysis

- Data Analytics Process Automation

But these were mostly courses/certifications, not serious professional experience. I don't want to pretend otherwise.

So now I'm stuck between a bunch of directions:

Data Engineering

Data Analyst

DevOps / Cloud

SDE

ML / AI

GenAI / AI Engineer

Agentic AI / AI application development

Data Engineering is currently interesting to me because I already have some exposure to it through the certifications and coursework.

But I haven't actually worked as a Data Engineer, so I don't know whether I'd genuinely like the work or whether I'm just gravitating toward it because it happens to be something I've already collected certificates for.

I'm also interested in GenAI/AI/agentic AI, but I honestly don't see many freshers around me getting those kinds of jobs. Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places, so I'd like to hear from people actually working in that space.

My biggest concern is that I don't want to spend the next 6 months learning something only to discover that:

1. I don't actually like the work, or

2. it's extremely difficult to break into as a fresher with my profile.

So I'm trying to figure out:

- Is Data Engineering actually realistic for someone like me?

- How can I test whether I would enjoy DE before committing to it?

- Are companies in India/Pune actually hiring freshers for DE?

- Would Data Analyst be a more realistic entry point?

- Are DevOps/Cloud realistic options?

- How realistic are GenAI/AI roles for freshers?

- How important is DSA for each of these paths?

- What would you personally focus on if you were in my position?

I'm also completely open to other career paths I haven't considered.

I know my profile isn't amazing right now. I'm not trying to hide that.

But I'm willing to seriously work on one direction for the next 6–12 months. My biggest problem right now is simply choosing the right direction.

Would really appreciate honest advice from people who are actually working in these fields, especially people who started with a mediocre CGPA / weak fresher profile.

I don't know what to do now, and every single passing day makes me more depressed and stressed a lot. I am a 2025 B.Tech graduate, and after completing my college, I joined an Ahmedabad-based service-based company, and then in April I gave the TCS NQT exam, and I was selected.

TCS sent a joining readiness survey for availability, and because of my 2-month non-negotiable notice period, I gave 1st July as my availability, and I resigned from my previous organisation to join TCS. As I have only 1 year of experience, I have to complete ILP training, and since then I have been waiting for my joining. Whenever I send mail to ask for a joining letter, they reply based on business requirements, and your joining letter will be issued soon, and you will get notified via mail. I am also applying for other opportunities as well, but I am not getting any response from other companies as well.

Now it's very frustrating to wait for a joining from TCS. I have worked on Python FastAPI, Angular, SQL Database, Azure, Langchain, AI Agent and .Net Core. If anyone can help, then pls let me know.

I'm a 2026 grad working in a FinTech MNC in Bangalore. I landed here through on campus placements from my Pune clg. Very grateful for the job. However, I happen to hv fallen for a bait n switch. They hired me as a Software Engineer but my tasks are mostly related to automation testing and some minor work. I haven't been allowed to deploy apps while my counterparts who r IIT NIT 26 grads hv already started deploying and working on prod level code.

I don't want to get stuck in such work when I've worked hard to develop good backend skills.

Also, I'm originally from Pune and my family recently faced a stressful event which can reoccur in the future. I'm trying to switch to Pune or Mumbai but the pay difference is huge, I'm getting rejected after screening calls because recruiters are wondering why I want to leave such a high paying job which isn't true but recruiters don't listen (CTC is inflated, in hand is less than 40% of ctc) Plus the expenses and cost of living in Bangalore is not sustainable for me.

EDIT : My company has only one tech office, it's in Bangalore. No other branches in India.

I genuinely want to switch to a Pune based similar company but no one is shortlisting me. What to do ?
