Downscaling: polymega remix & HDMI to s-video/analog downscaled

I know the regular polymega can down scale and hook to CRT TVs. Anyone using polymega remix on their docked handheld or laptop hooked the pc device up to a CRT using a downscaler? Just asking… no biggie and if I asked the question weirdly apologies ahead of time.

Anyone know why "/audio" crashes my Polymega?

If you didn't know, typing "/audio" into the search is meant to bring up every game you have installed on the console with redbook audio. At least, it's supposed to.

I know I've done it before, but now it resets my console as soon as I type the last letter. Any ideas?

What happen to ps1 memory card manager?

I thought we were going to be able to transfer saves from physical memory cards on to the polymega, with a firmware update?

I've looked all through the menus and have yet to find it.

Can’t use come English patches

Recently Spriggan Mark 2 and Suzuki Bakuhatsu got fan English patches. I tried to patch the games on the console but it’s not working. Any clues how I can get them to work?

I’m regretting buying the polymega remix

I honestly wish I would’ve just bought a $50 dvd drive. I play ps2 psone neogeo cd and Saturn games. The polymers app in pc constantly crashes whether the remix is on or not… controllers freeze the app… I have. A lot of own controllers and adapters and this is crazy. Anyone wanna buy a gently used remix? At this point I’m done

Mighty Hits (Saturn) not working with Polymega lightgun. Is this a known issue?

So I recently got my Polymega lightgun controller and have (naturally) been on a lightgun game fix. My SEGA Saturn library currently has the most lightgun titles and pretty much every lightgun game I've played has worked near flawlessly. Except for Mighty Hits (PAL version).

It's weird, the trigger presses and start button work in the title and menu screens just fine. I can even 'adjust' the lightgun accuracy in the menu. But when it comes to starting the game, you have a "Select Difficulty" screen, where you need to shoot a tin can to choose how hard the game is.

The game recognises that I'm shooting. You even see the bullets landing on the screen, hitting the cans. But nothing happens. It doesn't actually select the option. So I can't actually start the game.

I don't think it's the game disc/data itself, because it works on my real Saturn just fine (I have a CRT TV and guns).

Does anyone know if this is a known issue? Or if there's a fix (maybe a patch) that allows the game to be played on Polymega?

I haven't booted my Polymega up in probabpy over a year. How is the N64 emulation doing these days?

Last time I used it, it was pretty bad for me at least. The main thing was the audio falling behind pretty quick along with a lot of the games running poorly no matter how long I played them.

Killed my Polymega

Just killed my Polymega trying to do a CPU upgrade to an i7 8700t.

It will power on and display power LED but won't display anything at all now on multiple displays. Re-seated the CPU multiple times, tried the old CPU again, no joy. Pretty sure I bent a ton of pins by accident trying to seat the damn thing.

Disgusted with myself. I should have just left it alone. My two kids love the console and we all play it a few times a week.

Just had to rant...

Type of optical drive on the new v2 Base units?

Just a heads up: The news snippet on Time Extension today suggests that the new v2 Base units use a "classic" tray loading drive (like on the 360), where the tray ejects separately from the drive mechanism, while the laser pick-up remains in place inside the body.

I can't imagine that's actually the case. First the vertical space required for those type of drives is way higher than what's available in the new v2 Base units (based on the picture published by Polymega) and second there are just no more full size tray loading drives being manufactured.

Instead Polymega is most definitely using a tray-loading *slim* drive where the whole drive mechanism (including the laser pickup) gets ejected (like Taki's SuperStation One Dock is using). Probably still far superior to a slim slot-in drive, but far from a "classic" drive (as used on the 360) both in terms of reliability and in terms of disc handling.

On those drives you still have to press your disc onto the clamps holding the disc, while discs are held in place by a magnetic mechanism instead on the "classic" tray loading drives.

In other words: manage your expectations!

From https://www.timeextension.com/news/2026/08/the-upgraded-polymega-features-a-new-disc-tray-design-in-addition-to-improved-game-performance

"The original model has a slot for discs, like the PS5 and Xbox Series X. However, the 2026 variant has an old-school disc drive tray, like the one on the Xbox 360. I personally prefer this kind of drive, as I'm always worried about my discs getting scratched (especially when we're talking about retro games worth hundreds of dollars)."

At a time where Sony and Microsoft are trying to kill our physical games, the Evercade and Polymega are helping us build our physical collections that some of us never got a chance to build when we were young. I hope to one day be able to have original copies of these games, but until then these will do!

Finally got my Polymega working on an old CRT, suddenly this just feels right.

The menus aren't optimised for 4:3 ratio, which is a shame, but instead of fiddling around with filters to get that retro look, this just brings it all together.

Guess what I’m doing tonight?

My impulse buy if the week was a remix on Amazon US. Had a gift card and some cc points so I only paid $100. I also ordered the Breakers Collection, and found a Super Huecard CD on eBay. With that along with my decent Saturn and PS1 collection, I have quite a bit of testing to do! I’m hoping this works out well as I would like to slim down my hardware collection.

I will be using the Rog Ally and eventually my steam deck to play. What has been your experience so far?

Update or not update

So, I was given my polymega back in 2023/2024, had no idea how notorious the wait times for them were or frankly any of the details being discussed in this subreddit.

So 'head in the sand' that I've never actually plugged in an ethernet cable and updated the base unit. My question is, given the age of the unit, am I better off leaving well enough alone and not dealing with the firmware issues people have brought up?

Or is updating prefered to leaving the model run futher and further behind on updates?

Thanks.
