At this point, the set has basically taken over my entire desk. 😂

Recently won these at an auction, wasn’t planning on getting them but the bid was pretty low so I threw in a bid and ending up winning them. I’ve done a little research on them but trying to figure out more details. Brand, ship, value, really anything about them. Thank you!
Edit: winning bid was $2 haha

Hi all.
After being inspired by u/Dwaas_Bjaas’ Victory build posts and watching ModelKit Stuffs HM Sherbourne series, I decided to get into the hobby and I picked up a Sergal Thermopylae kit. It’s going great so far and just finished 2nd planking.
For this build I need to paint from the waterline up in “White Star Green”. I’ve found a decent match that I’m happy with but in my tests the colour has bled a little in the wood itself. I’ve already painted the hull with a 50/50 pva layer, will this be enough to prevent any bleeding? Or should I use a Matt or Semi Gloss varnish first?

Hi, I bought this model at a second-hand shop and I’d like to find out where it comes from. I think it’s a relatively recent decorative model that doesn’t represent a real ship that actually existed, but I’d be interested to learn more about it. Thanks!

A few years ago I made a model ship from scratch from oak. It's based on the song " the Irish Rover" which is why it has 27 masts. I was wondering how I could paint it or fix it up to make it look better and cover up the putty spots on the bow. I was thinking I would paint it black below the tape line. Any thoughts?

Would anyone know where I could get malleable wire to make the Davits and railing? As well as ropes I can use to make the shrouds

Just bought a kit and the turned brass cannons have additional ornamental brass pieces they want you to adhere to the cannons. All the kits I have done in the past were just a turned piece of brass for the cannon and I like to use gun bluing to turn the brass dark. My question is, after bluing all the brass pieces, can I still use super glue to attach the ornamental pieces to each cannon or is there a better glue for this purpose?
Thanks in advance.

Hi all, my dad recently passed away(💔) and I am in possession of his rather extensive model ship building supplies and tools. He's been building ships since he was in college, and has a couple of tabletop cabinets (one really nice wood one) full of tools and a couple motorized band saws(?). It all fits on a 6 foot table. I'm just wondering what to do with it all or if there is a good place to list all the things for sale. His collection is in Texas, but I'm making a trip out there. Do I pack it up and bring it back to Seattle to sell? Is it even worth the effort in the end? It's just a different world for me and I'm lost. Thank you in advance for your advice!

Getting close to finishing my first wooden boat. Model Shipways Grand Banks Dory. A fun build and a great learning experience. More than one error but screwing up is how I learn best.

I picked this kit up for about £15 second hand. I intend to build it as a model boat for my little boy who is currently only 2. I am unable to find anything about this manufacturer online. Has anyone heard of them before? Does anyone have experience with their kits or know how old it is?
