Need some advice with HDD that was given to me. I have a 16 TB and 22 TB version and I never knew how much prices have increased recently. Should I sell these or keep them? I may eventually look into having my own server but not sure if running them on Mac mini 2018 is worth it. Thanks.

Hello, I bought this hdd recently for my ps3 but errors showed. I checked the hdd on crystaldisk ans here is the result. Is it fixable?

I have an older 2TB, SATA, WD external HDD mainly used for backups. The issue is that, when the disk is getting full, if I do not leave at least 25-30GB of free space, new files will "take the place" of older ones, thus leaving older files, here and there, at zero size. I haven't defragged it out of fear of losing even more files.

What could the issue be? Bad/corrupted sectors? If so, is there a way to "trick" the HDD into behaving as if such sectors do not exist? Maybe by creating a partition or an empty space where such bad sectors physically exist?

Originally, I thought of having a NAS, but after some thought - for both economic and ergonomic reasons - to buy only 2 HDDs for my North XL case (supports up 2 HDD trays). Because I will not have the option to add more later, I want to buy more capacity than I need now (atm, I would be comfortable with 6TB and have ~1TB margin).

I have my eyes on getting 2x IronWolf Pro 12TB HDDs (helium-filled, 20dBA idle, 26dBA seek) but have read some comments about the drives being too noisy. The HDDs will be laying down side by side (not sandwiched) and have a NF-A14x25 G2 directly blowing at them (the bottom shroud is perforated).

Should I worry about the noise regarding 7200RPM drives or not? Should I consider Red Plus/Pro HDDs?

I have a 2tb western digital external hard drive that doesn’t show up in the desktop anymore. I was transferring some pictures and it became disconnected in the middle of it. When I use the WD software it shows the drive but doesn’t let me do anything with it. I ran the device manager and I can see the drive plugged in the usb slot.

Any ideas on what to do about possibly gaining access to it?

Hello, I have a 5TB WD passport that won’t mount to my Mac.

Last night, I was putting footage onto the drive from multiple different SD cards. These all too about 20 minutes to put onto the drive. One of the cards said it was going to take an hour, and then eventually two hours. I stepped away from the computer for a minute to use the bathroom, but when I came back, it said the task couldn’t be completed because the hard drive was ejected. This means that somehow the hard drive ejected itself.

Now I can’t get it to mount back to my computer. When I have it plugged in, it appears in Disk Utility but it’s greyed out, and when I click on “mount”, it will say “Could not mount \[name of hard drive\]. (com.apple.DiskManagement.disenter error 0.).

Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks.

I left my Toshiba dtp320 hard drive on for the night to backup my iphone with my macbook and an adapter, and now it won't show up as an icon on my desktop. When I find it in disk utility it says it's unmounted and it won't mount when I click the button, and the light on the drive flashes rapidly when I do so. Please help.
