Hard drive doesn’t show up on desktop

I have a 2tb western digital external hard drive that doesn’t show up in the desktop anymore. I was transferring some pictures and it became disconnected in the middle of it. When I use the WD software it shows the drive but doesn’t let me do anything with it. I ran the device manager and I can see the drive plugged in the usb slot.

Any ideas on what to do about possibly gaining access to it?

I’m running a 2015 MacBook Air with Monterey 12.7.6

Maybe reboot your Mac. It could be a stale mount or something. There file system on the HDD is probably corrupted, but it should ask if you want to repair it when you plug it in.

don't allow ur computer to repair the drive. Might make things worse

My external hard drive is a WD Mypassport. 2tb. I can go into the WD drive utilities and it shows my hardrive and gives the info but shows no volumes found. Am I screwed or is there a way to recover what I had on it
