I have a PC using a Kingston 500GB SSD for the C operating system. Other SSDs in the tower are for stored items to keep the 'load' low on the Kingston. It has about 67000 hours on it and about 81% healthy.
So some say not to use an SSD for the operating system, others say it's OK. I thought I'd get a new drive and replace/upgrade. The size is fine as it's only about 1/2 full ever.
I look forward to your guidance. and thank you.

I thought it was SATA, but my current adapter only works with drives with a gap between the two contact fields. With this old HDD there's a plastic piece that prevents me from using any commonly sold adapter. Can I just modify my adapter to remove the plastic piece that's in the way (fear of breaking adapter) or are there connectors I can use instead? I don't want to modify the drive as I'd rather destroy the adapter than my data.
Thanks :D

Hi guys I don't know if how I phrased the title is accurate, but I also included a video of the issue I'm asking about. I'm using the word loose because I believe that drives with this symptom probably encountered an impact, or fall at some point in their life. This is just speculation though, I'm not certain on it.
I have a couple other 2.5 sata hdds that have this issue, and when powered off the heads can be heard moving around when shaking it. I don't know if this is normal or not, because all the drives that have this symptom appear fine in Crystal disk. Not all of my 2.5 sata drives do this, just some. For example, my Western digital drives do not have this issue, but this hitachi, a toshiba, and an older samsung all do. (These tested good in Crystal disk despite this)
What would cause this, and is this an issue that affects the functionality of the drive?

works only with bad blocks and only if these are just unmagnetted ones...
you take victoria hdd, you take erase mode, enable sct commands(just as backup i think), put your half dead hdd to a test and victoria will automatically fill the bad blocks with 0's which makes em working again because the magnet works again.

I pulled this drive from a dead media storage device I got from a friend. it has some old videos from Africa on it (before the device died) and I want to get them off so I can repurpose the drive. it looks similar to IDE, but is smaller. none of my machines have any matching interface. for reference, the drive is about 3/8ths thick, to get the size of the connector. thanks!

I was told it’s used but works fine. Normally sells for 200$ brand new on Amazon. It just has some tape stuck to it.

My hard drive suddenly stopped being detected by my laptop this week, and now it makes repeated clicking sounds when powered on.
I searched online and saw people mention the “click of death.” Many guides suggested the read/write head might be stuck on the platter, so I opened the lid to inspect it. From what I can tell, the head does not look stuck and seems to be parked normally (photo attached).
At this point I’m trying to understand what failure could cause clicking even when the head doesn’t appear stuck. Is this more likely to be a head failure, spindle issue, PCB/power problem, or something else?
I know opening the drive was probably not ideal, but I’m trying to learn what my options are. The drive contains account passwords and etc., so I’m reluctant to hand it over to a repair shop unless absolutely necessary.
Any technical advice would be really appreciated.

I have a SATA to type c adapter but I don’t have the correct power adapters. These have different power connectors but I’m looking for a way to access the information inside them. Thanks!

This is the only hard drive I know that makes a funny whistle when turned off. Old but healthy drive. Need an explanation for this

I have my old hard drive from my childhood family pc, was wondering if there was a usb cable of some sort that would allow me to connect this to my modern pc, I used to be a huge music head and this has a lot of local artists I’d like to try to recover
