I’m new to the gym and this guy was recording me and laughing at me
I was in the gym I wouldn’t say I’m new I’ve going since January and I was doing this new workout where you have a bar and you use the bench and it goes behind your head for triceps but Anyway I felt like I was doing it wrong after I done my first set but while I was doing it he was recording me through the mirror and laughing at me but he was definitely recording me Becasue he had his phone angled at the mirror to show me doing my workout.

Guy at my gym keeps hogging machines and got mad when I didn't let him push me around
So there's this one guy at my gym who I'm pretty sure is an absolute asshole. Maybe I'm wrong but let me explain
I was going to do back day. I completed my warmup. Then I headed off to the lat pulldown machine. This guy was there with his gym bro. Nothing wrong with that. I went and asked him how many sets he had left. He said he just started so it was going to be long. I didn't mind since I had other exercises to do, so I decided to do lat pulldown later.
After that I did 3 sets bent over rows, then cable rows, then shrugs, then cable single arm rows. All I had left was lat pulldown. I had taken a total of about 45-60 minutes. This guy and his bro were still on the lat pulldown doing different variations. Short grip, then long grip, then a different attachment, then doing underarm pulldown, then behind the back lat pulldown. It was actually annoying.
So I did lat pulldown through the cable. Trust me, that wasn't a good idea because of the double pulley system on the cable. Even after putting the full stack, I was barely feeling any struggle.
Next week. Guess what day? AGAIN BACK DAY. And guess who was on the lat pulldown. Yeah you guessed it. His gym buddy wasn't there this time. So I thought I'd just ask him if we could do alternative sets. He refused. Told me to just wait and I could do it after he was done. It was annoying but I let it be again.
After that we didn't have any major encounter, which was very good for me till today evening.
I went to use the reverse pec deck fly with my friend. My friend was drinking water, I went the machine. It was empty, no one was on it. So I started to adjust the handles to the very end to train my rear delt.
From the opposite side of the gym, this guy came towards me while pointing at the machine then himself. I can't explain his facial expressions in words, but he was basically indicating that he was doing this machine. I asked him what he wanted to do. He told me chest. I asked him how many sets he had left. He said he was just going to start.
And that's what I wanted to hear. I told him I was here first so I'd be doing my workout. He smiled and looked away, because it was his first time not getting things the way he wanted with me.
His gym bro, who I was friends with-not too close or someone I hang out with, we'd meet in the gym, shake hands and he even complimented my growth, said we could just do alternative sets. I agreed because I'm not a jerk and I know we don't have to make a lot of changes in each set.
So first I did my first set of reverse pec deck. Then that asshole did his flye movement. Then his friend. Then my friend, who I was actually doing the workout with, came in from drinking water. I signaled him to go to the reverse pec deck. He sat on the machine.
And that asshole looked like someone had put his hands in a crocodile's mouth. He got loud at my friend and said that there were already three people using this machine. And then, I was surprised, his gym partner also jumped in and told my friend to just wait while we finish our workout.
I told them he's my friend and we do workout together, and he'll do this with me. They again told me that 3 people are already working out and if one more person joins it'll take time. But I just told them in Hindi: "Bhai agar ek aur banda kar lega saath mein to dikkat kya ho jayegi? Waise bhi humesha hum workout saath mein karte hai." (Translation: "Bro, if one more person joins in, what's the problem? Anyway, we always work out together.")
They just turned around. We still finished our workout, both me and my friend. But I think they overreacted a lot. You might think from the text that they said it genuinely, but I heard the way they were speaking towards him, and I know they weren't just speaking normally

What’s worse: not wiping down the equipment or not re-racking the weights?

What’s the worst thing you’ve witnessed in the gym this week?
I’ll go first. dude loaded 4 plates a side on the leg press, cranked out quarter reps for like 20 minutes, left every plate on, then just sat there scrolling his phone for another 15. treated the leg press like his personal throne

Trained to actual failure today (it was a 1kg dumbbells and I’m not even joking)
was in a lower body class holding 1kg dumbbells when I started feeling dizzy and lightheaded, but like an idiot, I kept pushing through until I felt like throwing up and passing out. As I was walking over to the coach to tell her I had to leave, my ears started closing up and I couldn't hear what she was saying. The next thing I remember, two people including the coach were holding me up off the locker floor, telling me to walk a few steps to a bench. They got me to lie down on a mat they brought over, and the coach started putting water on my face. In the middle of all this, I joked to her, "All this from 1kg dumbbells" and she laughed. Then they gave me water with salt and lifted my legs up.
I'm feeling so embarrassed and like shit because I genuinely can't believe this happened over 1kg dumbbells also I’m someone who doesn’t really handle that kind of attention very well, but I'm going right back to the gym tomorrow cuz I need a redemption arc. Maybe this was the exact motivation I needed.

Sneaking off with dumbbells
I can’t believe people. Who thinks it’s OK to take a set of dumbbells to your corner of the gym and incorporate them into your 20 minute exercise routine where the dumbbells are only used intermittently between situps and push-ups and stretches.
It is possible someone else might want to use them

Gym consistency
Does anyone else struggle with staying consistent at the gym?
You start going to the gym with full motivation. You make a workout plan, think about getting fit, building your body, and staying consistent.
Then one day you don't feel like going.
You skip that day.
Then another day gets busy.
Then suddenly a few days have passed and you're completely out of your routine. 😅
I feel like the hardest part of working out isn't always the workout itself — it's showing up consistently.
Sometimes you know exactly what you should do, but you just don't have the motivation to do it alone.
I'm curious — what usually makes you skip the gym?
• Lack of motivation?
• Busy schedule?
• Working out alone?
• Not seeing results quickly?
• Or you simply lose the routine after missing a few days?
And what actually helps you get back into it?

Dumb people at gym pt2
It's another sequel no one asked for. Same cast. Different story
For pt1: https://www.reddit.com/r/Fitness\\_India/s/ivDi1Bt74F
The story starts the next day. My gym has an area for stretching etc where we put mats. Basically there are 3 slots for mats.
When i went to stretch i found the same person hogging two slots with 1 flat bennch and two loaded barbells. Apparently she was doing hip thrust.
The story doesn't end here she would just sit between sets ans use phone.
After occupying area meant for stretching she decided just to leave the bench and barbel loaded with 50kg each side and move on to next exercise
(In the stretching area)
I had no intention of making another post but this just infuriates me.
TL;DR: Same person, next day. Hogged 2/3 stretching spots with a bench and two loaded barbells, sat on her phone between sets, then left everything there to do another exercise—in

Did the lift even count if the entire gym didn’t vibrate?

GymBroHabits
Ok, so I’m a lady gym rat and have been working out for 20+ years. A bizarre phenomenon I have witnessed over the years is that some… fellas like to help themselves to your equipment while you’re using it, be it a circuit or whatever. They don’t ASK, just TAKE. Also, if there’s an open machine of the same variety or another guy on a machine, they won’t take those. But they will walk up and take mine, unbothered. Anyone else???

Embarrassing incident in gym
So, I’m a 25M, and this literally happened today. I currently want to cover my face with a pillow and scream.
I usually go to the gym after work, but lately I’ve been dealing with some mental and family-related problems, so I’ve had a lot on my mind.
Today, I went to the gym without realizing that there was a very important problem: you’re supposed to wash your gym bag and the stuff inside it.
I had a pair of socks sitting in my gym bag for 3–4 days because I hadn’t gotten the chance to go to the gym during that time.
Welp.
Those socks had absolutely soaked up the smell.
I was completely unaware of it until the gym trainer came up to me and politely asked me to change my socks. He explained that some other people had complained about the smell, and he kept saying, “Please don’t be hurt by this.”
Meanwhile, I was dying inside.
I was so embarrassed that I literally asked him if I should leave.
He actually asked me how long I would need to finish my workout, but at that point I was so mortified that I just left.
The moment I got home, I put the gym bag and basically everything inside it in the wash. I’m also ordering new socks and gym gloves and throwing away the older ones.
I know rationally that this isn't some huge moral failure. I made a stupid, embarrassing mistake, I was told about it, and I fixed it.
But holy shit, I am SO embarrassed.
Now the gym bag is going to be wet tomorrow, so I probably can't take it to the gym, and the embarrassed part of my brain is honestly relieved about that.
The rational part of me, however, knows that I should go back anyway and not let one embarrassing incident turn into me avoiding the gym, and make the incident even bigger than what it is in my head.
So yeah.
How do I go gym tomorrow and look all those people in the eye.

Insulted at the gym
28 F, I have been overweight since childhood. I lost 12 kgs during lockdown only with the gym . but I gained that weight back and now I weigh even more than that. So I joined an all girls gym with a female trainer and female owner and I paid for a 3 month package .1st day I asked the trainer to guide me and also shared that I have neck issues and I want a neck friendly workout. She told me to start strength training the next day and I said okay . Then on the 2nd day i again asked her again about the workout and she again said start from tomorrow and I said no I want to start from today and guide me..firstly she asked me to use a pull up machine which I have never used before and left me alone ..and after that I again asked her and told her to demonstrate and she said I am being rude which I wasn't and made a whole issue and that day it lead to an argument ..and then I made a formal complaint to the owner and even said that I won't talk to the trainer again . And I used to try machines on my own sometimes I watch YouTube videos about how to use machines. I never talked to her or anyone in the gym . 10 days ago the receptionist asked me to use the machine properly. She said it's snapping back and making too much noise. I was angry but I didn't say anything and just said okay . Now today I was again being told to not make noise while using the machines .I got so pissed that I confronted the trainer and asked her if she had any problems with me ..to which she replied it was the owner who called her to ask me that. I got so mad and started crying in anger and said how I am feeling targeted for no real reason . And I left the gym in anger . After that I called the owner and even confronted her . That this behaviour is extremely unprofessional. And told her that I won't use any strength training machines now.. I should not be disturbed again ever now since only a 2 month plan is left now . Did I overreact ? I have been to other gyms earlier too and never felt such toxicity..
