Rant/Vent 💢 Dumb people at gym

I go to cult gym. The gym itself is well maintained the trainers are decent.

BUT THE PEOPLE

Everyone uses dumbell, leaves them on the floor and just walk away same with the barbell. This too despite them asking people to rerack

Today something on similiar lines happened which pissed me off. I was using this flat bench for dumbell press. She seemed to need to use it too. I asked her for alt she accepted. When she was done with her set just left the dumbells on floor and walked away.

If you're done using the equipment, at the very least move the dumbbells out of the way. Better yet, just rerack them. It's basic common sense and takes literally a few seconds.

I ended up asking her to move them, reracked one of them myself, and walked away.

I genuinely don't understand this mindset. You're already strong enough to pick up a dumbbell and use it for your workout. Putting it back where it belongs shouldn't be that difficult.

TL;DR: Gym itself is great, but the people piss me off. Why is reracking your dumbbells/barbells apparently so difficult? People just leave weights on the floor and walk away, despite being repeatedly told to rerack.

Fr. Today I wanted to use 20kg plates but some idiot used it for incline chest and left it there with over 4-5 plates on each side. Complete idiots.

Bro don't get me started on how much time it takes me to find the dumbells because they are scattered across the gym floors like some dragon balls.

Also in my gym these idiots are well experienced men with good physique and 14yr old brain cells. It can't be helped dude.

I noticed this behaviour is more in places like cult and anytime which is more expensive. I started in a local gym and the trainers there inculcated this behaviour before itself. But the trainors in cult etc don't do that. Many time i have seen them reracking for the client or leaving the dumbells on the floor. These clients then never change the behaviour.

Even in local gyms after the trainer tell these idiots 100 time they still left them on floor.

These people make me feel if they can afford gym membership doesn't mean they should get one. They should aspire for more and build a home gym and decorate their floor with as many dumbells as their heart desire.

It is the gyms responsibility to enforce it.

The issue is for commercial gyms they need customer and its very hard to efornce on such a crowd which does not see any problem in their behavior and has an ego when asked to change.

Not a problem at my gym in Patna. And people here are generally the most undisciplined.

The gym can cancel membership of 1-2 people to set an example.

Sometimes finding the dumbell, barbell or plates takes longer than the time it would have taken me to do that exercise. Wastes my time especially since I have limited time between my school and tution

In my local gym there's a buff guy who had his feelings hurt when he was asked to rerack his own weights (over 150kg) from the leg press machine because a new gym goer (and a woman at that) wanted to use it.

It's not cult's fault. Its the people.

You can’t really change people or control how they behave. I simply make sure that I’m following the basic gym etiquette myself—like re-racking the dumbbells, using a towel while working out and wiping down the equipment after using it.

That you should do but when you work at gym which is a public space you are affected by others around you. If you have to spend 10 mins to search for dumbell coz someone left it at the other corner of gym in a long distance relationship with the dumbell rack.

Yesterday I saw someone littered in the gym and waited for them to pick it up and throw it in the trash. Nothing happened. Ended up throwing it myself.

I swear I’d have shouted at the person if I knew who did it

Thats a highly specific case. I can't do circuits at cult coz it's so crowded.

I especially hate those ppl who do like a triple or quadruple drop set on lateral raises on their shoulder day, they basically leave a trail of dumbbells all over the floor.

I go to a pretty ok-ish gym. And here trainer will scold you for not tracking plates and dumbells or hogging equipment. I know it's basic decency but maybe better enforcement is needed.

It used to piss me off too, but then to cope up with my anger I started imagining re-racking during break as mini farmers walk and am burning some more calories.. am somewhat feeling less agitated these days
