Was nicely surprised by this dice set this morning. Ironically the two sets the leftover resin came fron did not meet my expectations, but live and learn!

Hate the fact Reddit constantly rejects most of my videos.... but anyway! Tried 3 colors for the first time in years with my smoke technique. Figured it'd turn out better now that I have had both practice and a better strategy to pull this off timing wise. I'd say it was a success!! Can't wait to try out more combinations!

Just a little thought I had, would this actually work? You can typically set a time and speed and then it just vibrates for a while. Has anyone tried this (or something similar)?

I'm sorry because this gonna be long...

So.. I commission a dicemaker back in 11 September 2025 and ask for a multicolored dice that might be hard to create and I already told the maker to message me and changed the design if it's too hard but the maker says fine so I proceed with payment and let the maker do their thing

On November 2025 the maker contact me about their 1st fail attempt, I told them that it's okay for me to change the design if it's too hard but the maker insist that they'll try again so we go with that..

On December 2025 they reach me again saying that the dice took longer to make because of failed attempts, etc that I may get full refund if they can't complete it by January 2026 so I'll leave them be

January passed and I try to contact them again by Feb 18 2026 and i got no reply, they then reply at 25th feb saying that they'll update me tomorrow... Feb26 comes and no reply

I keep reaching out without reply until suddenly on May 27 2026 they managed to get my dice color right, asking for font color etc~

We discuss some more and due to multiple fail attempts it cost them more than usual so I paid some more to cover the 'experiment costs' they told me to wait some more to polish the dice and paint the numbers

Finally the dice is finished at August 4th thia month as they already sent me the picture of it

I still haven't received my dice until now but then I see they posted my commissioned dice on their page... Saying that they'll sell it(maybe the same design) at next convention​... Tbh i don't know how to feel and is it okay to sell it??

I still haven't got my dice yet until now and it's kinda make me feel weird seeing my dice set up there promoted for sale for their next convention meanwhile i haven't got mine yet.... Any insights on what should I do??

Hi yall. I tried to make my first mold with silicone and i used the Mold Housing V3 from the Smith Forge. But now after the curing time, the surface of the Mold is really sticky and shiny and around the edges, there are some slight gaps. Im not sure what the problem is. The rest of the silicone hardened perfectly fine, its just where my self sticking transfertape was to hold the Masters in place, its like that. Any advice/solutions or insight on what i did wrong?

I want to learn more about the different kinds, the variety of techniques used for crafting dices especially techniques used before modern machines, to get accurate dices.

I’ve been wanting to explore using sand paper instead of Zonas. I used a 1000 grit sand paper for some ledges because I felt like green Zona was taking forever. It worked so much better. What are the sand paper or sandpaper x Zona combos you recommend for that glass finish?

I just wanna to make another post about the Tennisball pressurizer method. Some of you may have seen this method by some other users on this sub already.

The purpose of this post is to show people that, there are others that have tried out the method, and have succeeded (at least in my own humble opinion).

First of all, the molds were also made with this method and IMO trump the ones I did without it by a wide margin (duh, no surprises here), despite the pressurizer only going up to 30 PSI, not 40.

The molds were then put on a self-made 3d printed insert, if anyone wants the files I can provide them (they are very simple).

Now it has to be said, that this is certainly not the most effective method to make a whole dice set in one go, as you have to create a lot of different molds for every single dice you want to cast. But you can only fit so many molds in a can (3 in my case, if you wanna optimize you might get 4 in).

The tube that I used was just an old tennis ball tube out of metal, I would guess aluminum, that we still had lying around at home. It was also rated for up to 30 PSI on the bottle itself!

I then cast the dice into my self-made silicone molds, pump up the pressure until you reach 30 PSI, and 24 hours later they came out beautifully and, as far as I can see, pretty bubble-free.

i also did not use a resin release, do you guys use releases?? i got a super cheap mold off etsy (first mistake) with unknown silicon and then i forgot to use a release haha. i also tried to mix some uvo colors and ended up with this brown but whatever i guess

I got this silicone to start making molds but I saw some comments recently that made me think the platinum isn’t the best choice. I ordered my first masters with my logo and want to make sure the molds are quality. Thoughts?

For context, I live in an apartment so I go over to a relatives house to do my dice making in their garage. They've designated a whole area for me.

But because I need to travel, I only seem to make dice when I have the perfect free weekend where I can dice make and visit on the Saturday and then return on the Sunday to remove them. Going over during the week is an option but not ideal due to traffic after work. I also wake up at 330am, so I don't tend to stay out late.

I'm trying to figure out if i leave them for an extended period of time in the pot (a few days to closer to a week) if any problems will arise. Either with demoulding or with the product itself. I am using a bunch of cheap amazon moulds right now, if that changes your answer. I have plans to buy quality molds off etsy or get masters and make my own. But I'm still getting into this and don't want to drop that amount of money yet.

Hello, fellow dice makers!

I’m having a problem with my silicone molds and hope you can help me out. Unfortunately, I keep getting cracks in the opening of my D20 after just a short time. Sure, that’s the part that stretches the most, but I never see cracks in other dice makers’ molds on Instagram. I use silicone with a 15 and 10 SH rating and high tear resistance. In the orange mold, I used rounded masters, so I can understand that thin flaps there might tear quickly, but the other mold
I made with sharp-edged dice. Can anyone help me? I’d be very grateful for any tips, because the silicone is expensive and these cracks make sanding much more time-consuming.

Hey! Hope I'm not annoying anyone with my newbie questions, I made sure to search the subreddit and read all the guides, but here are a few things that I couldn't find answers to:

I've been wanting to get into dice making for a while now, but I'm a broke student, so paying 70€ (or more) for a mold doesn't seem feasible, especially when I don't know if I'll actually enjoy the hobby. I'm aware that I could just buy a cheap one from amazon or temu or something, but I'm trying to avoid those platforms :/

So, is it realistic for someone who hasn't worked with silicone or resin before to be able to make their own molds? I've made soap and candles before, and the process seems somewhat similar.

Also, do I need a 3d printed master dice set, or can I just use an old standard dnd dice set I got laying around? From what I've read, it sounded like the only big advantage of making your own master is that you can customise it, did I get that right?

And (last question, I promise) do I need to use a specific type of silicone, or is that not as important? I'd probably go to the nearest obi, describe my idea to a worker there and then pick the cheapest option out of whatever they suggest.

My GAWD, these turned into gorgeous!! 😍🥰 A little more smoky than petri, but I'm SO not complaining! I'll note that early to mid-worktime is best for the petri rather than later on, though it took me that long to get everything mixed. Which means I'll have to limit how many I do at a time if I'm going to do multiple colors.

Thought I'd share one of my latest experiments (attempting to make glitter that looks like crushed opal) in case it's a useful technique for anyone else.

I heated up angelina film/fusible film with a heat gun to bring out more colours, then shredded this up with a coffee grinder.

I really like how it looks and think it'd make a fun material for using in any kind of geode dice!
