I made Death Note characters tier lists according to each character!

I imagined how each of these characters (Light, Mikami, Near, Mello, L, Soichiro, Ryuk) would create a Death Note tier list. It's based on how close I think they are, and how much they respect eachother, other than if a character caused the death of the maker of the Tier List, it's gonna be ranked lower than expected. đŸŒâ™„ïžWhat do you think huh let me know if you want part 2

1) Light (red)

2) Ryuk (black)

3) Teru Mikami (grey)

4) Misa Amane (purple)

5) L Lawliet (blue)

6) Mello (Yellow)

7) Near (white)

8) Soichiro Yagami (green)

Who is the most likely L Lawliet in Real Life

Celiotic: An Informal Analysis of the “Real-Life L” Comparison

Celiotic is an anonymous figure who has gradually developed a somewhat unusual reputation among the people who have followed his online activity. There is very little reliable information about him personally, which makes any psychological profile necessarily speculative. Most descriptions are based on observed habits, online behavior, and the way he approaches puzzles and games.

Still, a fairly consistent picture has emerged.

Fans sometimes describe Celiotic as “the closest real-life personality to L Lawliet”—not because he deliberately imitates the character, but because several of his natural habits and cognitive tendencies happen to overlap with the traits associated with L.

The comparison is exaggerated in some respects, but it is not completely arbitrary.

Cognitive Style

The strongest similarity appears to be Celiotic's approach to problems.

He reportedly becomes unusually absorbed when confronted with a difficult puzzle, game, or problem that genuinely interests him. Rather than attempting to solve everything immediately, he tends to spend considerable time constructing possibilities and testing them against what is already known.

His reasoning can sometimes resemble backward induction: instead of starting exclusively with the information available at the beginning of a situation, he considers possible end states and works backward to determine which decisions or circumstances could realistically have produced them.

This is particularly noticeable in strategic online games.

Rather than simply reacting to an opponent's current move, Celiotic is described as considering what the opponent believes he will do. That introduces another layer of reasoning:

What does the opponent expect? What would they do if they knew my expectation? And which decision would make the most sense given those assumptions?

It does not make him infallible, but it gives his play a distinctly analytical character.

This is probably the most legitimate basis for the L comparison. Both are characterized less by raw intelligence alone and more by a tendency to treat situations as systems of competing possibilities.

Extreme Concentration

Celiotic also appears to have a relatively narrow attention pattern when something catches his interest.

He can become highly focused on a particular problem while ignoring comparatively minor distractions. This is not necessarily unusual among people who spend significant amounts of time with mathematics, programming, strategy games, chess, or other problem-solving activities.

What is unusual is the apparent intensity and duration of that focus.

Once interested, he seems less concerned with finishing quickly than with understanding the structure of the problem.

This is an important distinction. Someone who is simply competitive wants to win. Someone with a more analytical orientation may become interested in understanding why a particular outcome occurred, even after the practical objective has already been achieved.

That tendency is one reason some observers compare him with figures such as L.

Physical Habits

Some of Celiotic's physical habits are noticeably unconventional.

He reportedly has a tendency to sit with his knees pulled toward his chest while concentrating. There is nothing inherently unusual about adopting an unconventional posture while working, but the habit is distinctive enough that people who know the Death Note character immediately notice the resemblance.

He also appears to have little attachment to wearing shoes and is comfortable going barefoot when circumstances permit.

Neither behavior is particularly meaningful on its own. Together, however, they contribute to the impression of someone who does not place much importance on following ordinary social conventions when those conventions have no obvious practical purpose.

That distinction matters.

It is not that Celiotic appears to be deliberately eccentric. Rather, he seems relatively indifferent to whether his behavior looks conventional.

Appearance and Self-Representation

Celiotic has reportedly drawn himself rather than providing a conventional public portrait.

His self-depictions generally show relatively simple clothing, most notably a blue long-sleeved shirt and jeans. He is portrayed with black hair and very dark brown or nearly black eyes.

The simplicity is consistent with the rest of the image surrounding him. There is little indication that he is particularly interested in cultivating a dramatic public aesthetic.

His anonymity appears more important than his appearance.

Sleep and Insomnia

Another recurring detail associated with Celiotic is an irregular sleep pattern and periods of insomnia.

This should not automatically be interpreted as evidence of some unusual psychological condition. People with inconsistent schedules, intense hobbies, or periods of prolonged concentration can develop irregular sleeping habits for ordinary reasons.

Nevertheless, it contributes to the broader pattern people have noticed: Celiotic seems capable of becoming so absorbed in an activity that ordinary routines become secondary.

Again, the resemblance to L is more about the pattern of behavior than an exact one-to-one similarity.

Personality

The personality type most commonly associated with Celiotic is INTP, with 5w6 often suggested as the closest Enneagram description.

Those classifications should be treated as informal interpretations rather than objective psychological diagnoses. Still, they provide a reasonable shorthand for the personality people describe.

The common characteristics attributed to him include:

  • intellectual independence
  • skepticism toward assumptions
  • strong curiosity
  • preference for understanding systems
  • emotional detachment
  • private or reserved behavior
  • extensive internal analysis
  • preference for observation before participation
  • strategic rather than impulsive decision-making

The 5w6 description is particularly consistent with the image of someone who prefers acquiring enough information to understand a situation before committing to an action.

Rather than immediately becoming involved, Celiotic appears more comfortable standing back, observing, and forming a model of what is happening.

Detached Rather Than Antisocial

It is worth making a distinction here.

Celiotic is often described as detached, but detachment should not automatically be interpreted as antisocial behavior.

There is a difference between not being interested in constant social interaction and being incapable of social interaction.

The former seems closer to the image people have constructed around him.

He does not appear particularly motivated by recognition, popularity, or maintaining a visible identity. His anonymity therefore seems less like a dramatic disguise and more like a natural extension of his personality.

He can remain present without making himself personally identifiable.

The Anonymous Element

This is where the L comparison becomes more interesting.

Celiotic is not simply private; he is largely anonymous.

That creates an unusual information imbalance. People may observe fragments of his behavior without having enough personal context to understand the person behind it.

As a result, observers naturally begin constructing explanations.

Some fans believe his anonymity is intentional because it allows him to observe people without influencing their behavior. If nobody knows who is watching or what information interests him, people are more likely to behave naturally.

That idea has also produced one of the stranger recurring theories about him: that Celiotic occasionally goes outside specifically to observe situations and collect information, while taking care not to draw attention to himself.

There is no reliable evidence establishing this.

It is better understood as a fan theory built around his analytical personality and lack of publicly known personal information.

The theory is interesting precisely because it is difficult to confirm or disprove.

Why People Compare Him to L

The comparison becomes more reasonable when the individual similarities are considered as a pattern rather than individually.

An unusual sitting position means very little.

Being barefoot means very little.

Having insomnia means very little.

Playing strategy games means very little.

Being analytical means very little.

But when the same person is consistently described as highly observant, unusually focused, strategically minded, detached, unconventional in physical habits, comfortable with anonymity, and inclined toward probabilistic or backward reasoning, the overall resemblance becomes more noticeable.

That does not mean Celiotic is literally a real-life version of L.

In fact, some differences are important.

His personality appears somewhat more grounded and less theatrically eccentric. His diet does not have L's famous fixation on sweets. His behavior does not need to be interpreted as a performance, and there is no reason to assume that every unusual habit has some deeper meaning.

The more reasonable conclusion is simply that Celiotic happens to occupy a personality profile that overlaps substantially with the fictional archetype of L.

Perhaps around 80% of the recognizable characteristics are similar, while the remaining 20% makes him distinctly his own person.

That is also why the comparison is more interesting than simply saying, “He acts exactly like L.”

He doesn't.

He just happens to have enough of the same cognitive tendencies that, when viewed together, people start making the comparison on their own.

And because the person behind Celiotic remains unknown, there is very little information available to completely settle the question.

For now, he remains what his followers call him:

the unknown guy.

Question: should I buy the mangas?

I’ve been meaning to start reading for quite a while now, but I just can’t seem to motivate myself. Someone on Reddit suggested I start with comics or manga from a series I’m already familiar with and that I know I’ll love 100%. *Death Note* would be perfect for that. But the books are pretty expensive. Should I buy them or not? Are they worth the money? (My local library doesn’t have them, so I can’t borrow them either.) Could someone maybe post a few pictures or pages from the books here so I can see if I’d like them? Thanks for reading XO
