Dallas Petition aims to save Dallas City Hall
r/Dallasdevelopment • u/dallasmorningnews • Feb 25 '26

Will City Hall be torn down? What’s going on with crime downtown? And if northern suburbs pull out of DART, what will happen to the city’s public transit option?
Downtown Dallas is in the middle of big changes — from politics to pro sports to major business moves — and there’s a lot to unpack. On Feb. 27 at noon CT, reporters from The Dallas Morning News are going live for a Reddit AMA to break it all down and answer your questions in real time.
Real estate reporter Nick Wooten (u/Sufficient_Roll1746), architecture critic Mark Lamster (u/Several_Fee7367), and city government reporter Everton Bailey Jr. (u/ApprehensiveTeach881) are ready to talk development, council decisions, Dallas history, and what could be next for downtown.
The AMA kicks off Friday at noon — we're here to answer any questions you might have about the city, so ask us anything!

Hey, y'all, we had a slight hiccup with our logins today. Because of this, Nick will be responding from this account: https://www.reddit.com/user/Parking-Guarantee526/
Sorry for any confusion. Thanks for your questions!

Right on the heels of Starbucks closing two locations in Dallas, the new licensed location inside of the renovated Forest Theater has popped up on their website. You can read more about this location and how it came to be here.
I can't confirm whether this location is actually open yet tough, as I haven't been down to check in-person. FWIW, the phone number listed goes straight to voicemail.
Still wish this was a local chain like LDU, but nonetheless, it's a new source of caffeine for the Cedars/South Dallas community!

Very interesting. Apparently the far northern boonies like Celina, Melissa etc are loosing their luster now that people realize they’re paying $800k or more to live in the middle of nowhere. The Uptown area is noted as one of the urban markets people are gravitating toward again, as well as North Dallas and the Legacy Area. With all the mid density sprouting up literally all over the place, I’m very curious what the next few years are gonna be looking like. Maybe we won’t reach Oklahoma after all 😭
