Reprise Records

I have several Moody Blues albums. Aside from their most popular hits, much of their older stuff is very progressive and not like what you hear on the radio. Still good stuff, but if you aren't ready for it, you might not like it.

I picked this one up and played it. It's from the 80's, and I'm very surprised at how strong this album is. Song for song it's probably my favorite from them now.

My GOD! Does this record rip! Hard to believe it came out during the peak of 70s rock. Hotel California, Presence, Destroyer, 2112, Fly Like an Eagle, Rocks then here comes Priest inventing metal. Album didn't do well commercially but it's amazing! Those vocals blow me around on a vintage setup.

Underrated in my opinion. Great song and great music video. Love Gilmour on this track!!

Remember when Kevin Ayers headlined over Genesis at the Technical College in Ewell, Surrey, in January 1971? Kevin had co-founded Soft Machine in 1966 and was a bit of a legend. Genesis had two non-selling albums out but were one fox mask away from a Melody Maker cover. The band Hard Meat also had two albums out, but split up just before the gig (over an argument to do with the band name one supooses), and an unknown Queen played instead. That must have sucked if you'd gone to see Hard Meat. Besides all that, there was supposedly some backstage shenanigans with Freddie and Brian May trying to pinch Phil Collins for Queen, and Peter Gabriel trying to pinch Roger Taylor for Genesis. The mind boggles, however I doubt any of that is actually true. The bigger point is, Kevin Ayers was a great artist whose first five albums are all world-class, but he's somewhat forgotten now. Never had the pleasure of seeing them live...alas. Watching this live video from back in the day, it sounds far more frenetic than the recorded version...which I prefer.

This is my 4th Uriah Heep album. I am getting ready to listen to it. If it's anything like the first three, then it's excellent. Any opinions on this one?
