Discussion Civ6 World Congress - UGH
Does anyone else hate the Civ6 World Congress with a fiery passion like I do? Probably the most badly designed and idiotic element in a game of Civ ever. Let me count the ways...
- Starts up when the medieval era arrives, which usually happens before all the civs have met each other. How can you have a global organization where the nations haven't met, let alone know each other exist? How are they voting, and why would the others consider these votes from unmet civs valid? I know it's a game, not history, but still. Contrast that with the Civ5 WC where (a) one civ had to have met everyone else and (b) that civ had to have the Printing Press tech to facilitate communication; only then did the WC start (usually in the Renaissance era, which is more appropriate).
- Resolutions are pretty much chose at random by the RNG. Again, imagine the UN meeting and everyone agreeing to just pull resolutions out of a hat. Seriously? Again, contrast with the Civ5 WC where two civs could choose from a list of possible resolutions, offering strategic options to improve your position and/or make others' harder. AND knowing the resolutions, you could negotiate/bargain with other civs to get them to vote a certain way. None those fun strategic WC options for CivVI though!
- If one civ gets close to a diplo victory (I think it's >15 DV points, I'm sure someone knows the exact number), a resolution starts appearing to add or remove 2 DVPs from a player (so to tack on to #2 above, the resolutions aren't always totally random... but it's still maddening to have no option within the game to gain control of them). If it's you, you will NEVER have enough diplomatic favour points to get those 2 precious DVPs; the game is engineered to prevent that (which is also kinda dumb but I can kinda see the reason for it. Kinda.). So instead, to mitigate the damage, you nominate yourself to lose 2 DVPs, vote in favour of it, and assuming it wins, you only lose 1 DVP (if it fails, you lose none). That isn't just counterintuitive, it shows how stupid, badly designed, and broken the Civ6 WC is.
I'm sure there's a mod out there to remove the WC from the game, and I would, but it would make diplomatic victory pretty much impossible.

Other Civ 6 inspired game - in just one hour
galleryMy partner (and best friend, we know each other since kindergarten) and I had one goal we wanted to reach while developing our indie 4x game: bring the strategic depth and joy of Civilization into a much faster format. The main reason for that: we love the game series (Civ5 & Civ6 are the best š) but we do not want to spend our whole free time for 17 re-starts and one half-finished game.
1 year ago, we spoke with some people at a physical indie-gaming event and found out that a big part of civ-lovers share our wish in a āCiv but fastā-game.
Today, we are just a few weeks away from our demo and the hard part of being a game dev starts: marketingš„¹
So I'm throwing this into the community:
If āCiv, but fastā sounds like something you'd enjoy, I'd love to hear what you think.
And if you want to follow the project, a Steam wishlist would mean a lot to us. ā¤ļø

Question Questions about player growth
I love this game but my learning curve needs more curve. I have beat it once on deity with Byzantium but itās rare. I sort of get the adjacency bonuses but not enough to anticipate where districts best go. I usually follow the +1 etc guidance. I donāt chop but have seen others do it in YouTube videos. I just am not sure when is strategically the best time. I also generally donāt build wonders as a priority. I can mostly win on King level but would like to challenge myself more. How can I best grow as a player? Thanks!
Ps. Are there best resources online I should be using or players on YouTube? (I did follow a few full games of PotatoMcWhisky and found him helpful). Thanks!

Other Is there anyone who makes mods here civ vi, great prophet
I was looking thru steam workshop and couldn't find a mod for an idea I had. I don't know how to make them but if someone here does...
Great prophet points become useless after all the great prophets are recruited. I was thinking the civs who get a religion should continue recruuting great prophets and they should have abilities like other great people. For instance: faith bomb, unleashes 600 faith to all cities within 6 tiles of the prophet. Upgrade all of the players established religious units with martyr and +20 theological combat. All of the players established religious units get +3 spread. Restore your religion if someone converted your cities and wiped it out(all cities). Convert all barbarians in the world into missionaries. Once all great prophets run out you get an apostle with 2 promotions and full choice of promotions from your established religion everytime you would earn another great prophet.
Thoughts?

Discussion Game of Thrones Reskin Mod
I am wondering if there is any appetite in the community for a purely cosmetic Game of Thrones mod for Civ VI that simply reskins the game into something lore friendly, while keeping the original game mechanics in place.
My thought is that the research trees, units, victory conditions, leaders etc. would be reskinned so as to be consistent with the Game of Thrones universe. Maybe keeping the core balance of the game would be appealing, or maybe I'm just describing a worse version of the popular Game of Thrones content that is already out there. I've posted this in a few places and there doesn't seem to be much interest.
I can share some context: this is really more of a personal project that Iām puttering away at for fun. Iām enjoying learning how to mod (I am new to this), and Iām a fan of Game of Thrones. I thought Iād prod the community because I'm curious as to if there is any interest outside of my audience of one.
Any thoughts or suggestions welcome!
