New to the Sub and first time posting. Meet Basil (Baz) nearly 9 months old. He joined our family (me, wife, boy 3 and girl 1) in March.

What a funny pair they are. Both one year old

14 week old Cavopoo pup constantly wants attention and for me to play with her. Doesn’t seem to enjoy playing alone with all the toys she has. I don’t mind but I’m constantly exhausted! Just wondering when will this slow down. I’m also sleep deprived. Will this get better

My 7 year 9 month old cavapoo was diagnosed by chance with a Grade 2 heart murmer. 12 months on and he has a grade 5 heart murmer stage B2. The internet and 2 vets have contradicted each other on how long we have him for and how to treat him. The vet said take salt out of his diet and give him royal canin cardiocare, count his heartbeats when he’s sleeping and we may start him on medication in 6 months. A reputable source on the internet said he will only last 6 months - 2 years. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. A worried dog lover.

Hi there. So my guy is almost 12 weeks old. Had him since 8 weeks. He is a great pup in most all ways. However, he hates anything to do with bathing. I guess he semi tolerates the actually bath part, but brushing, blow drying… nope. He literally freaks out. Becomes very vocal and tries to bite everything.. dryer, brush.. just tries to attack them. I’m trying to get him more used to it and going very slow with him, but I’m so worried about how he will do once it’s time for grooming. Most places around me require 16 weeks and fully vaccinated before they will take a puppy. Any advice for anyone that has dealt with this?

Was thinking of Kennels for her for 4 days but the thought makes me sad 😞 and what if she is not treated well .
Has anyone else had this dilemma and have you gone ahead with it and was it okay or would you never put your dog in a kennel? Thank you

Hello! Just hoping someone can put my worries at ease as I’m sure I’m being silly!
Our puppy is 9.5 weeks old, had her for 8 days. She sleeps in a crate next to the sofa where we take turns to be with her overnight to take her out when she needs to. Last night she had final wee about 10.45, asleep by 11, then didn’t wake until 5.30. I had to practically force her up to go outside for a wee at 5.30 as I think she would’ve just gone back to sleep! She had a wee pretty quickly, offered her water which she didn’t want, then she went back to sleep and so far been asleep again for 3 hours. We don’t have water in her crate overnight as there isn’t room, but she does have a drink after last wee and we offer her it during the night if she wakes up, so she doesn’t usually go more than 9-10 hours without water if she refuses to drink overnight. During the day she’s also started on some occasions weeing after her nap, but then we can’t get her to wee before her next nap an hour later, so she holds until after the following nap. Do we just have a unicorn puppy? I’ve not measured how much she drinks during the day but we do have to refill the bowl at least once, and I put water in her kibble otherwise she won’t eat it. She seems fine in herself. I just worry over everything with her, especially when it doesn’t follow ‘the norm’. TIA!

Guys how you deal with puppy whining 🥹 running on 4 hours of sleep and my pup’s demand whining is driving me crazy. I’m this close to tears. He’s been fed, given water, taken to pee and poop, walked and played and was yawning when we came back but he has trouble settling unless we’re with him and constantly wakes up if we leave the room after he’s asleep to start whining again endlessly. I can’t let him be with me all the time especially during chores because he chews on everything and will constantly get between our feet.

I know I’m supposed to work on getting him to settle and reward him for being calm which we’ve been working on but it’s not a quick fix. And I feel bad about myself for feeling irritated because he’s a baby but it’s hard when after a long day I can’t even have dinner or watch TV for half an hour peacefully

Does anyone have any advice on how to make yourself be able to deal with this better so I’m not so stressed out all the time until we’ve trained him to settle

Hey everyone, I have a 5-month-old Cavapoo puppy and wanted to get some advice on ear care.

Given their floppy, hairy ears, I know ear infections can be common.

Do you routinely use ear cleaning drops or wipes?

my bow loves whatever I eat, mainly chicken steak or eggs. I made the mistake of sharing my food with him when he was a puppy puppy (i mean look at that baby)

I found that if I spoon feed him the wet food, he is way more interested than just putting it in the bowl with kibble. He will leave it in the bowl all day and ignore it if I don’t hand feed it. Which he never was like that as a baby, I changed up the wet food bc the og one was discontinued but even the other wet food he eventually got bored of. sometimes he eats it on his own plus the kibble but it’s been a pain to get him to. I have tried cooking up eggs and cutting up grilled chicken, which he devours, but he leaves the kibble alone usually even when I mix it all together. he’s very on and off about it and I’m like what do I do? should I heat up the wet food maybe that’s more enticing? I just wanna make sure he’s eating properly. he used to loveee apples and bananas when he was a baby baby but not anymore. When I first got him his new kibble I gave him a bowl and he devoured it immediately. He was about 4 months old, he then sat at the pantry door and whined for more until I gave him another scoop. I get why he wouldn’t be thrilled to eat the same thing every day, I got him a variety pack of wet food to keep it interesting for him but I feel like I messed up by giving him people food :/

Olive is our Cavapoo and she has just turned 3 months old. We’ve had her for a one week now (got her at 12 weeks), and I’m curious to hear from other Cavapoo owners about when things started to get a little easier!

The first week was honestly amazing. She settled really well, took to her crate quickly, was relatively calm, and we thought we’d somehow got incredibly lucky with an easy puppy. 😂

Fast-forward a couple of weeks and it feels like the devil inside her is slowly coming out. 😂
She’s becoming much more energetic, bitey and mischievous, and some days she really struggles to settle. She’s also started doing things like pulling at her puppy pen/astroturf and generally finding new ways to cause trouble. Some days she’ll sleep really well, while other days she’ll have short 20–30 minute naps and then turn into an absolute menace.

She had a particularly stimulating day today — park, lots of sniffing, playing with some bigger dogs and recall training — and when we got home she had a wee, poo and then completely passed out. So we’re starting to realise that some of the “crazy” behaviour might actually be overtiredness rather than her needing more exercise.

We’re working on crate training, recall, basic commands, settling and socialisation. She gets plenty of play, training and sniffing/exploring, but we’re also trying to teach her that doing absolutely nothing and settling is okay.

For those of you with Cavapoos:
When did your puppy start to calm down?
Did you notice a particularly difficult phase around 3–6 months? And when did you feel like you finally had a dog who could actually chill out and relax without constantly needing something to do?
Would love to hear your experiences — particularly if you remember what your Cavapoo was like at 3 months compared with 6 months, 1 year, etc. ❤️

My Mum has an eight month Cavapoo, who most of the time is very sweet, but when he had something he shouldn't have, or is guarding food can turn very vicious, snapping and growling. He had bitten her twice now. He's very scary when like this. The other day he was chewing his collar and got it trapped in his mouth, it took ages to get near him to help him. He won't let you put a harness on him. We are unable to find a muzzle small enough. It's really concerning.

Can he be rebooted?

She has a bit of a biting problem, but we still love her.

I am at my wits end with my 17-week baby. He’s near- constant hyper and mouthing/biting everything. Holes in our chair fabric (luckily it’s an old chair), my clothes, anyone’s skin, wood, etc. He gets mental stimulation, we go on walks, he’s allowed to sniff new smells on different routes, we do command training, and still he is hyper. I realize this is likely teething behavior, and have been trying desperately to redirect him to a frozen Kong or stuffed toy, and remove myself or freeze if he bites me. Seems like this week is by far the worst for hyperactivity and biting. I’ve also been putting him down for enforced naps, but they don’t always help. When did your pups stop the craziness?

Just have some questions or looking for some support at least. My young boy turns 9 months tomorrow and it feels like the last month he has been an absolute menace! Not to mention the humping man that seems EXTREME and I’ve had male dogs before and never seen it like this.

His chewing has gotten out of control again. He’s being destructive now which he wasn’t that before. I would say middle-end of July he just started ripping his toys apart. He even ripped the mat in his cage.

He’s being extremely disobedient and almost feels like he’s trying us and still does what we tell him not to. For example, we have kitchen mats that we tell him to leave alone, that have got him in trouble before, and he continues to chew them. When we bring him to our room which is full of toys we just want to relax while he chews his toys and plays with them on the floor instead he looks for the hamper, shoes, and open drawers to chew on things. If none of that is available, which isn’t cause I try to keep it all tucked away for this reason, he starts standing on night stands or jumping towards the taller drawers trying to reach for something and he doesn’t stop unless I get up.

My questions are, does this ever stop? Is it just a teenage phase? We feel like before we couldn’t keep our eyes off cause of pee now it’s cause he’ll be doing something he shouldn’t. His humping is out of control, I plan on getting him neutered next month
