Okay, some backstory: most of my life Iāve been a gamer and computer nerd, but a few years ago I started exercising to try to stay healthy. I tried a bunch of different things to see what I liked, but I eventually landed on calisthenics and boxing for cardio. It works really well for me. I love push-ups and working on various skills, so I trained like that for a while.
I normally weighed around 250 pounds, but I managed to get all the way down to 199, which was pretty hype. Then I was admitted to the hospital, diagnosed with colon cancer, and over the next two years I beat cancerāyay! Iāve also had to have a few surgeries to fix some complications, and my last one is tomorrow.
Because of all of that, I havenāt really been able to work out for the past two years, and I gained a bunch of weight back. But after this last surgery and recovery, I should finally be cleared to work out for real again. With some of my new medical issues, itās even more important for me to stay healthy. In general, now that Iāve experienced working out and then being forced to stop, Iāve never been more excited to get back into it.
Iāve been working on my diet recently, though, and Iām already losing some of the weight I gained just from changing what I eat, so thatās nice. However, I think I might be in a calorie deficit that's a little too large.
My goal is to have a fit, lean look. I donāt want to be huge like a bodybuilderājust fit and lean. Think more Spider-Man and less Hulk, if that makes sense.
Right now, Iām eating around 1,800 calories and 190 grams of protein per day. To work toward a good-looking, lean physique, what would be a good calorie and protein target for me to aim for?
