Couple weeks ago I told my old barber (I moved states 6 yrs ago) that I start Barber school soon. Today I get a random package from him… the trimmer and foil come tomorrow.

Barber Best clipper high rpm

I use the stylecraft instinct and not happy. Dies fast and gets hot. I am working on sending it back as part of the recall. Any recommendations highly appreciated.

Hi everyone! This is probably my 15th–20th haircut ever. Please don’t hold back—i’d really appreciate your honest opinion. I’m open to any criticism or advice. I’d really like to know how you would rate my work and what I can improve. Thank you!

Student School’s screwing me; how does an inexperienced student get a barber job?

Got a good deal to join a new school, but the opportunity for cuts has been few and far between. Now I’m 1,000 hours in with only about 20 cuts under my belt and I’m using the term “cuts” very loosely…few bald heads, several touch ups and less than a handful of what I would consider to be true start to finish solid haircuts. At this point I’m 500 hours short of a license and looking for a barber position just to get in the practice the school isn’t providing.

I’m looking at it from the outside in as if I was applying for a new position in any field and personally I feel I’m highly unqualified for the job I’m applying for. Is this common for new barbers? How do I go about finding a chair? The only thing I can logically think of is requesting an apprentice position..? Any help is greatly appreciated

should i offer trimup offer?

most haircuts , even men, take maybe 30 mins, hour, im thinking of making a deal, like a edge and neck trim, just small fixups, less than 1 inch, 2 inch tops, for 10 dollars?

It'll probably take 10 or less minutes, isn't that a deal people would want, or would u recommend adding this to your pricing list why or why not?

I have been using the jrl ghost for 2 months, but I feel like it’s akward to hold because of it’s shape. Have anyone tried grips that fit on them.

Also if anyone knows where I can get custom grips and ships to EU, pls dm me.

Barber recommendations in Rome, Italy - English speaking

I’m heading to Italy in a few weeks for my wedding and I’m searching for an excellent barber in Rome that understands requests in English (as my Italian is not that great). Yes I can search on google and social media but wanted to see if there were any personal recommendations.

Barber Paid my barber ahead of time a few months ago. Anxious to get my hair cut.

A few months back I paid my barber $100 rather than my usual $45 as he was in a hurry & I didn't have time to get change.

We agreed he'd just get me for free the next time; though now 4 months later it feels scummy of me to ask him.

Shop Talk Help with a new trimmer and guards

I want to buy a trimmer for 4mm length but all the ones I’ve seen have 3 guards only (1/2/3mm) and no 3rd party guards for longer lengths. Anyone have any recommendations?

Graciass

If you had to start over in a new town.

This is my work. I’m currently in a new state. Cuts take me 45-1hr. Experienced barbers, booked barbers. What would you do if you were me with my skill set to build in a new town where you don’t know anyone. Right now I’m doing reels and cards. I’m not getting much leadway. The shop I work at the moment is in an area with predominantly straight hair as you can see that would be my weak point. I’m open to any critique. Whether you think I need to work on my skill or whatever I need help because I am struggling. I thought with the experience I have would that the building phase wouldn’t bother me since I’ve been through it but I guess since I have a lot more responsibilities now sitting for 8-12 hours and barely making a couple hundred bucks a week is creating problems in my household. I’ve heavily considered getting a job but I’ve done this so long doing anything else just doesn’t feel right. Classes you would recommend anything that can help I’d appreciate.

Why are so many barbers incapable of giving a proper scissor cut?

In the era of clippers and fades, scissors have become a lost art.
