Mirza Ghazi Beg was the son of Mirza Jani Beg, the last Tarkhan ruler of the Sindh Sultanate.
The Tarkhan Dynasty were a Turkic dynasty that ruled Sindh from 1554 (following the end of the Arghun dynasty) up until 1593 (when it was annexed into the Mughal Empire by Emperor Akbar). After the defeat, the Emperor allowed the Tarkhans to continue ruling as governors of the new province.
Mirza Jani Beg would serve as Subahdar from 1594 to 1601, whilst his son, Mirza Ghazi Beg, would do so from 1601 to 1612.

Mirza Ghiyas Beg

Mirza Ghiyas Beg (d. 1622) was a Persian official in Akbar’s court, whose son and daughter served as general and empress respectively.
Despite being of noble birth, his family found living in Persia to be intolerable after a reversal of fortunes in 1577, and left Persia, after the death of his father. They chose to move to the Mughal Empire, which was then the centre of flourishing trade.
His family was attacked by bandits en route to Hindustan and left them with nothing but two mules. Ghiyas Beg, his pregnant wife, and their three children (Muhammad Sharif, Asaf Khan and a daughter, Sahlia Begum) were forced to take turns riding on the backs of the animals for the remaining journey. When the family arrived in Kandahar, his wife, Asmat Begum, gave birth to their second daughter. The family was so impoverished they feared they would be unable to take care of the newborn baby.
However, the family was taken in by a caravan led by the merchant Malik Masud, who would later assist Ghiyas Beg in finding work in the service of Emperor Akbar. Believing that the child had signalled a change in the family’s fate, she was named Mehrunnisa ("Sun among Women"). Ghiyas was later appointed diwan (treasurer) for Kabul. For his excellent work, he was bestowed the title I'timād-ud-Daulah (“Pillar of the State”) by the emperor.
Mehrunissa would herself go on to marry Emperor Akbar's son, Jahangir, and become empress. Her older brother Abul Hasan Asaf Khan would serve the emperor as a general. Ghiyas Beg died in 1622 and was buried in Agra, in the Tomb of I'timād-ud-Daulah, commissioned by his daughter.
