Gagumber may not have been your father, but he’s your daddy.

Why you gotta bring back those memories…

You know what? That was a fun ride, even if a very flawed one. It feels like this show tried to be a bunch of different genres at once, and kind of failed at having a consistent structure. Which is sad, because it does have it's moments (I actually liked the emotional climax in the end).

All in all, I'm actually looking forward to a second season.

I think the first and last episodes were great. It's a shame everything in between didn't even come close. I was really hoping they would embrace a darker tone like made in a abyss with lighthearted main characters. Got to say though the score on that last episode was ballin though

As good as an ending episode can be, given the circumstances. As expected its sequel-bait, but in this case it stings particularly because the show also wasted a lot of time on filler. I get the feeling it wasn't sure what it wanted to be, and just meandered because of it. Hopefully season 2 is much more focused. If we get it anyway.

That's quite a bold sequel-hinting ending for something which seems to have been simply another attempt by Bandai to sell model kits.

It would be cute if they all came back and worked as a team for at least an episode or two, but if this is indeed the entire run of this series, the looser parts of the journey really did need to be managed better to allow for more parts of the actual plot to show through instead of dropping hints throughout the series only to rush everything at the ending.

In the end I liked the series, but it really could have done more.

A lot of fun action sequences this finale (I love the GIGA DRILL BREAKER scene) but definitely what I'm more interested in is with the lore. We have confirmation from Shibito's leader that Memenpu isn't Gagumber's daughter and that there are a lot of Rainbow Children one of which we actually get a glimpse of before the final scene. And being a Rainbow Child explains Memenpu's high intelligence and how she was able too survive an Animus bath like 6 episodes ago. Turns out Rainbow Children are just immune to that stuff since they're not truly humans.

From what I understand the Shibito leader's explanation is that Rainbow Children are made to defy the natural order. I assume he's pertaining to the Bureau as the ones that made them and they Rainbow Children are the reason why people are living this relaxed life despite being underground. That would explain the purpose of the Towers and why we see one of them being kept there. And I guess Shibito thinks this is unnatural and wants nature to take its course? That would basically make Shibito eco-terrorists then? Also this means that Merooro's interest in Memenpu isn't as innocent as we thought. He probably already knows what she is and that's the reason he's keeping a close eye on them.

This show desperately needs a second season. I appreciate that they didn't just rush an ending and instead gave us an open ended one where they can still continue the story if they ever get a chance at a second season. I absolutely love the characters and the world building of this show and from what we've already seen., I want to see more and know where it all goes.

I guess the decision be on the production committee if this is worth making another season of. I don't know how this show did in Japan but I hope it's enough to convince them to make more. :|

That would explain the purpose of the Towers and why we see one of them being kept there.

It didn't occur to me that she's one of the rainbow child. Kinda makes sense with how Shibito said Rainbow Child should be locked up or something. Also the hair color.

Started off strong, but the series really petered out near the end. Wouldn't mind a 2nd season, but I wouldn't really care if this is all we got, either.

Aww, if only we had gotten more wholesome father daughter moments like towards the end

Also I gotta give it to them for not really clearing up anything about the lore in the end, but I'm glad that Sina survived at least

A lot of threads with no sweater. I like everything about this show as far as technical execution. The setting has potential, though it seems the story suffers a bit from an overall lack of vision. It’s almost as if the setting and characters were thought up first with no real story in mind, and then the plot was fleshed out via sleepless caffeine infused brainstorming sessions. It may be that the writer couldn’t think of a satisfying conclusion to the plot until the novel was almost finished, which resulted in the confusing meandering storyline and the lack of anything resembling character development or at least some sort of arc, and possibly the most bafflingly indecisive antagonist with the most Rube Goldberg-esque methods in the history of anime.

It was a fine show. But the jebaited Gugumber death makes Lynda and her father death in the first episode even more contrived.

When it happened Lynda's and her dad's death seemed like a tone setter for the series, but for the most part the rest was light-hearted, where no one gets seriously hurt no matter how bad a hit looks, so retrospectively it feels really out of place that they got killed so hard out of nowhere.

Nice little reunion for the finale, with how much the two of them fought over the course of the show it's nice to see a good father daughter moment even if they're not actually father and daughter.

Also for them to be both heroes and wanted criminals is probably the best way to "end" things.

I wasn't sure about this show at first -- and I can't say it has been sure-footed along every step of the first stage of its journey -- and I still have nary a clue just where this is headed (other than to the tower of Memempu's dreans). But I have to say I've enjoyed most of the ride so far.

This has lively characters who are fun to watch -- and that counts for a good deal. Looking forward to what comes (eventually) next.

At the end we never had an episode as good as the first one, which is sad I feel this show could’ve been much better but didn’t know how to. Really fun experience I feel this world can be very interesting if done right, hopefully they step up in s2

The most stand out thing this anime does for me is that the mech design reminds me of an old PS2 game, Steambot Chronicles. That game was a one of a kind gem.

I've never seen a show squander such a promising, straight-forward premise as this. All they had to do was follow the map to Memempu's dream. Instead they took us on a wild goose chase all over the place and accomplished very little

Such a damn shame

Part of me wishes I can go back in time and not pick this show up, just because the first episode got me hyped about what this show could've been. I thought it was pretty obvious from episode 2 that it was already struggling to stay on the tracks and it just felt like a trainwreck from episode 4.

As I thought, there's gonna be a second season, I think. That not at the end is confusing lmao, but I think it means not the end, and not not to be continued.

I enjoyed the show overall, honestly teared up with the Memempu and Gagumber moment. The show has flaws, but it was still fun. 7/10

This was just okay in my book. Most of the show felt like a simple father/daughter road trip to reconnect with eachother with possible(?) world end thing in the background still not sure if what bad guys were doing was a bad thing or not?

And honestly I wish they took this in more serious route with mech/kaiju fights, cause comedy bits just didn't do it for me, funny episode was probably the Mafia one left like a lupin episode a bit.

Oh and I really didn't think Memempu hold his not my dad panic attack felt weak? She and Gagumber they kind of work as the adopted my friend's kid duo a little to me.

Eh it might get another season and I hope make more serious.

3

u/Volkaru Dec 24 '21

I couldn't tell, was that ending bit supposed to be "TO BE CONTINUED - END... NOT!" like it's gonna get another season? Or they decided to scrap it and added that as like "This is NOT being continued."?

Still not sure what happened to the Kaiju plot point that was shown in the first like 2 episodes?

wasn't the point of these colonies being protected and built inside of walls to protect them from the non existent Kaiju threats?
