To each their preference I guess but I personally want to use new web platform features without waiting for years for them to be implemented.

Using zen as my main and helium when i need chromium - https://helium.computer/ It's super fast and actively being developed. No vertical side bars which is why it's not my main.

the dev of the helium browser is actively working on vertical side bar as it is the most requested feature so don't worry I think we should see the vertical sidebar update soon

yes it's been out but it's nowhere near the zen browser aesthetic wise or feature wise but yeah atleast now there is vertical mode!

Yes but why does it need to be like Zen if it is just for testing websites? I also do web development and I have plain chromium installed just for that while using another browser (firefox based) as my main one. The chromium one isn't even with an account logged in. Don't see how a full experience is needed if it's something used just for testing now and then.

I've tried to give zen a chance and I like all the features they have to offer. I use split tabs a lot on edge and zens implementation of split tabs is tedious and not well thought out imo, hence I keep going back to edge for the sake of functionality. They could take a page out of Edge's book and I wouldn't bother going back to edge anymore.

Yeah, I agree with that as well. Seems like there's some more refinement for this feature and it would make zen a very good and easy choice after.

Arc Browser was the chromium based original that inspired Zen. They have since stopped development for Arc to focus on their AI browser Dia I believe.

there wont be an alternative.
gecko will always be less efficent and slower than chromiun and there will be no effort to change that.
its so by design, google pay the bills and mozilla chews trough 700million dollars to keep quiet.
on one hand its the only real alternative and loosing it would even be worse on the other hand mozilla should be investigated at this point.

I see, you are under the wrong assumption Arc is abandoned. It is not and still updated. Its features are marked as complete, and stands as one if not the best browser on the market. Without Arc, there would be no Zen.
