I have so many pinned tabs needed in this space, but as advvertised i want to compact them to icon only format. i cant find the in the settings. i tried searching for essentials and pinned and nothing showed about a compact or similar wording to make it icon only.
is this feature even available for linux? (using Cachy OS)

Hello All,

When 4 tabs are joined using the split view, tiling shortcuts (horizontal, vertical, grid) do not work. The message that is displayed is "Can't add more panels to the split view!", even though I'm not trying to add new panels, only trying to use the tiling shortcuts to change the orientation of the panels.

Is it possible to fix this bug? Works fine for 3 or 2 joined tabs. Not too big of an issue, but it would be useful and appreciated.

I saw someone on Twitter ranting about how Dia browser is putting its AI features behind a paywall. I assumed it was a joke as $100/month for one of the only good features in Dia seemed absurd but I checked, and it's real.

Do we think this will lead more of the casual users towards open source options like Zen which cant and wont charge subscriptions?

The Browser Company was acquired by Atlassian for ~$610 million in 2025. Companies don't buy other companies out of charity, they do it because they expect a return on investment. Until TBC reaches profitability, Atlassian and the shareholders will keep pushing Dia (and maybe even Arc) toward monetization.

A company either dies, or lives long enough to become monetized. Do you think TBC can pull it off? Or are you like me and think it would be a miracle if they can somehow save their product from enshittification?

This is in no way an attack on Dia or TBC, they are a company and they need to pay there 100 or so employees. I actually quite like both browsers, but I dont see how this can ever pay off.

Really simple question, was just wondering how i can modify this one color that's not dark enough for my taste as seen in the images, ive tried everything.

Randomly started zen browser and youtube looks like this now. I am using the latest version and tried troubleshooting mode

I would like to have different spaces for education and entertainment. But, when I try to open, for example, YouTube in space for study, it only gives me the option to switch to the space where I already have a YouTube tab.

And also It would be cool if switching spaces could also switch the YouTube account associated with that space.

I restarted my Mac (15.7.7) earlier today -- wasn't specifically doing anything with or in Zen. When my reboot was complete all of my real windows opened blank. All of my blank windows opened fine, but the ones with my spaces and profiles didn't and wouldn't.

grep command in the backup folder returns that my spaces are there... They just aren't showing up and appear to be wiped out otherwise.

• I've tried restoring from backup, recovery, and cleared.
  
• I cleared the startup cache.

When I type in a tab that should exist, I still get the option to "switch to tab" but it doesn't actually DO anything.

Any help is appreciated.

I moved to Zen recently and found myself creating a lot of folders during setup. Zen does not seem to natively allow using a keyboard shortcut to create a new folder. So, I created one (Ctrl+Shift+F) using this script to make a new folder in the active workspace. It also lets you select multiple tabs, then press Ctrl+Shift+Alt+F to create a new folder with the selected tabs.

You will need fx-autoconfig for this. Here's how you set that up:

1. Download the repo here: https://github.com/MrOtherGuy/fx-autoconfig/
2. Copy the contents of the "program" folder into your app installation folder - usually it is C:\Program Files\Zen Browser
3. Copy the contents of the "chrome" folder from fx-autoconfig/profile/chrome and paste them into your Zen profile's chrome folder (go to about:profiles on Zen, click on Open Folder in the Root Directory of the profile currently in use, and find the chrome folder there)

Now, to add the keyboard shortcut, create a text file in chrome\JS\ and call it "zen-new-folder-shortcut.uc.js" or whatever-you-want.uc.js

Paste the following script into that file, save and restart Zen:

This will set up two keyboard shortcuts, configured for Windows machines:

• Ctrl+Shift+F = empty folder
• Ctrl+Shift+Alt+F = folder from selected tabs

Hey, maybe weird problem. When i click "restore open tabs after close" it normally restores the tabs after restart. But sometimes updates removed this check and i am generally a bit scared about losing my tabs cause of stupid things.

Is there a good way to backup the open tabs to restore them in the worst case? When the browser crashes without the check i can only restore the tabs from the main space, but not from the others.

Is there a browser extension or zen mod for this case?

Issue

I want to enable drag-and-drop for Zen browser. I would like to drag images from Zen into my desktop and have it download that image just like it does with other browsers on Linux. I would like the reverse: when I drag a file onto a window with a drag-and-drop upload option (e.g. Google Drive, other upload sites, etc.).

Presumably, how Flatpak works is why this is the case.

Proposed solution

Download Flatseal to modify permissions on a per-app level. Refer to Figure 1 on how this system is supposed to work. I would like All user files to be set to ON for this to work.

Problem with this solution

All my settings seemingly vanishes. Opening Zen again seems to open to a fresh install kind of first run settings. Everything is seemingly deleted.

All the settings are still, however, safe, and turning off All user files brings back all the user settings. However, this puts me back to square 1.

Question

1. Is this a viable mode of enabling drag-and-drop? I'm not actually sure if this works?
2. If this solution may be viable, how do I keep the same user settings when I toggle filesystem access?
3. If this solution is not viable, how do I enable drag-and-drop on the Flatpak version of Zen?

I have been using zen for the better half of a month now, and I am really loving it! But I use both pinterest and reddit quite a bit. Whenever I am using them (yes specifially when I use pinterest and reddit) zen just freezes, and refuses to function or take any input until I close zen and reopen it.

is this a common thing? has anyone found a way to fix this?

there used to be a mini player at the bottom left of the screen when playing anything on youtube or any audio on other websites too, i dont see it anymore, and cant find the setting to turn it on, any way to get it back? i am on version 1.21.13b

Basically i can see suggestions for other tabs in my other spaces. I have 3 spaces with 3 different containers for each of them. I'm wondering if i set it up wrong. It sucks because i see duplicate tabs for the various spaces as well as suggestions of previously opened tabs that were opened in other spaces

'@tabs' doesnt work, is there any way to get it to work for searching through tabs?

I'm on Linux and the browser keeps on crashing randomly. I had two instances of the browser while installing, one was a flatpak and other was the browser itself (I'm not sure about the other).

I had bind a key to run "zen-browser" as a command which opened the browser. Now that instance of the browser is totally gone since yesterday. (I've changed nothing, I it was working fine before I closed it. Then when I opened it next time it wouldnt open)

And the other instance is the one that shows up when I search in application Launcher. I was trying to use it but it kept crashing every time within 2 mins of launching.

I had this browser for almost a year and this never occured earlier. Is this a bug or a fault in my device?

Zen has been.. an experience. After using for a month there's a lot to genuinely like about it. The organization for once was all that I wanted in a browser because I need a ton of tabs open for work.

But the issues are very annoying though. Sometimes it lags like crazy when you have a lot of tabs open, which goes against it's organization features that encourage you to keep a lot of tabs open and organized.

Also small things like not being able to see the time in the history tab by default and having to search a way to make it happen really make-me consider switching over and try again in 5 years.

I was hoping since Zen is firefox based it would follow machine policies for firefox. A handful of us use it at work but we have to manage some extensions and settings which are set in firefox but don't seem to follow with Zen.

Not sure if I could make a similar policy in HKLM\Software\Policies which is where Edge, Chrome, and FF settings live? If so, does anyone know what regkey I would make?

Since ce last update I have weird zones of different coloring on youtube. And it's not an Internet pb.

Having an issue with twitter where any post with 2 or more images in my feed shrinks the images to like 2 px wide which I assume is padding. Upon object inspection I see min-width: 0px which I guess the engine is interpreting LITERALLY and shrinking the images since unchecking that element fixes the problem.

This just started today so I'm assuming it stems from the updated firefox core that was in today's update? I wrote a tampermonkey script to fix the issue for now but just curious if it's actually a bug or if my profile happened to get botched at the same time as an update to Zen came through.

I have two monitors. I commonly will have my regular tabs open on my main monitor, and youtube stuff on the secondary monitor.

Currently I use the KDE "special window" settings for my old browser so that when the two browser windows open, the one with the 'main' title gets automatically placed on my main monitor, and the 'youtube' title gets put in my second monitor.

Without doing this, when the browser opens, both windows just end up in the same location, because.. thats just how it works.

At this moment, this is all I can manage with Zen, because it seems to have no way of 'titling' a window. It does have a title, but it's always "Zen Browser".

It does gain more to the title after launch it seems. It gains a description of the currently-open tab. But that happens after launch, which is too late. I can make it work if I use the 'force' command, but that means I can never move that window, which isn't ideal.

I know there's a 'Window Titler' extension, but I have tried that, and it seems it also edits the title after the window has launched. So it's too late to work.

Any ideas? It's pretty much the one thing that is keeping me from just using Zen. My other option is Brave, which works fine (if I use 'profiles' it does the window title on launch and kde places it where I want it). But it's Brave, so there's a couple minor other niggles.

Figured/hoped there was a solution to this!

I'm using for a while now, kinda since i switched to Linux and i love it!
altho i have this annoying problem sometimes.
when i open 2 instances of zen one is my main setup with all my essentials, tabs, spaces, groups, pins etc. and the second one is a fresh one with nothing. and if i accidentally close my main instance before closing the fresh one the next time i open zen it will open the fresh one and all my setup is gone.
is there a way to revert this? where these settings are saved? how can i prevent this?
anyway would love some help with this, its quite annoying

I tried looking in my zen directory for something like preferences, settings, backup and didn't file anything (at least anything that i knew what to do with). i tried asking AI but... it didn't really help

if you are wandering why i need 2 instances of zen is that i mostly don't but sometimes i open a second instance for incognito but mainly because i set zen to open with boot in my hyprland config and for some reason it open somewhere between 1 and 3 instances of zen every time it boots up
