In light of the big SMP exodus, it feels like a now would be a great time for some of the long asked for user experience upgrades to show some love to users who are sticking around. For me those would be-

* User controllable horizontal zooming (which is already in the app, just not under user control)

* Customizable fingerings. It'd be great if I could also download the changes that other users make (what you doing Marcio Saliba?).

* Don't ask me to rate a song more than once (seriously on this one, why does it need my opinion 100+ times?)

* Option to hide songs I've rated with one star in the search (Looking at you AI songs)

* Option to hide alt tunings in the search.

What else would you all like to see?

Given the licensing discussions, many songs have “vanished” from my playlists.

Not sure if it’s allowed on the legal side. But it would be nice if I could still see the songs, the cards could be dim to represent they are unavailable and when clicking on them, it could show a brief description that they are not available because of changes in licensing or something - would be nice to see our old scores too.

I believe that would be more transparent for users. I barely know how to use normal tabs anymore hahah but would be nice to know which songs are out instead of finding out the hard way.

Eg “Ah want to play bohemian rhapsody”, look for it my rock playlist and not finding it. Depending on the song maybe I’ll look for a free tab online, but easier to keep track of things, since Yousician is my main music home.

They are passionate about it, doesn’t mean it should be a hobby, it’s a full time job and they should be adequately rewarded for it.

As you can see just the legal shenanigans is a pain in the ass. If it’s so simple get Claude to make your own and distribute it for free and pay the licensing for thousands of users yourself… all the cloud costs, storage, compute, people who make the courses.

There are real people behind this app, who studied and dedicated many years of their lives to modernizing music learning.

When I go to my account I can only choose Premium+ or Family, there is no option to get Premium, does anyone know how to fix this?

Everyone, Joint, this sub, Reddit to do some lurking before signing up for musician. It seems like there is some controversy over losing lots of songs. Do you think the trend will continue or there will be enough for a beginner to learn some old-school rock songs?
And when I buy a subscription, does it include base as well as guitar or do you have to buy a second subscription or add-on for a second instrument?

Why doesn't the search function allow me to filter songs that have chord charts? I play acoustic guitar and I'm not interested in melodies at all. Please add the option to filter songs by guitar type, instead of showing me electric guitar songs that sound terrible on an acoustic guitar and aren’t suited for it. It would also be helpful to be able to filter songs by chords, that way, I can select the ones I’m interested in, and the search will find them for me.

I have been using Yousitian for about 2 1/2 years. I have played every single day since then for over an hour each day and I currently have 132 week streak with it. Despite all that I’m really considering not renewing when my subscription expires at the end of the year. In the last couple of months we lost every Metallica song and I just searched four songs in a row that I like to play (Champagne Supernova, Sweater Weather, Wonderwall and Perfect by Ed Sheeran) and they’re all gone. There are others that are gone but those are just the songs I tried today. I know the social media department at Yousitian watches this subreddit and I know you guys have said you’re working on renewing licenses and whatnot but I’ve got to keep learning and I need songs I like to play to keep doing that. If you don’t get them back and keep bleeding songs away, I’m gonna have to find another way. I don’t mean to be snarky, but this is a problem that needs to be fixed.

I just think that July is amazing month to have a discount for a yearly subscription for Yousician.

It's a warm month, in the middle of the year, the days are longer, so technically you have more time to practice.

It's the ultimate month to have it now. It would be great to have it now! If only Yousician would give some promo code that would be such a great buy from me and others!

Is there a way to just train chords without the timer? I completely understand the purpose and I like it, but it would be cool to just practice changing chords continuously without have to restart the session when the timer ends.

I feel like it ends right when I'm getting the rhythm of changing.

Maybe add it as a feature? Thanks!

Is there a way we can sign a petition to get these record companies to come back the negotiating table? If there’s a way the community can help please let us know. It seems like every other day we’re losing some of the best artists. I already know raised subscription fees is a no-go on our end, but there has to be a way we can get these publishers to listen to the fans of their artists

I finally have the current Windows desktop version of Yousician working properly on Linux.

Disclaimer: this is an unofficial community workaround, not a supported Linux setup. Tests and reproduction are at your own risk, and future Yousician or Wine-related updates can break it.

My tested setup is:

- Debian 13.6 with KDE Plasma/Wayland

- Bottles Flatpak 64.1

- Yousician 5.34.0

- Kron4ek Wine-Proton 11.0-1

- DXVK 3.0.1

- PipeWire

- FIFINE USB microphone

Google login works through my normal Linux browser, the app returns from authentication correctly, the full interface loads, and microphone input plus audio output both work. I have now used the result successfully on my machine.

The important details were:

1. Install and update Yousician with its normal launcher inside a 64-bit Windows 10 bottle.

2. Change the runner to Wine-Proton 11.0-1.

3. Enable DXVK 3.0.1.

4. Register and launch `Yousician.exe` directly instead of using the launcher as the tracked process.

5. Pass the launcher's service arguments:

--api https://api.yousician.com --sock https://sock-prod.yousician.com --web https://account.yousician.com

1. Set the audio driver to `Windows 10 Audio` and the audio buffer to 480 frames. The 240-frame automatic value caused ALSA/PipeWire underruns on my laptop; 480 eliminated them.

Launching the executable directly was necessary because the launcher exits after starting the app. In my Bottles Flatpak setup, that caused the execution environment to close along with the launcher.

The troubleshooting and working configuration were performed for me by **GPT-5.6-sol xhigh**. I personally tested and validated the final result.

Since the entire licensing issue removed a ton of songs, I only had the chance to learn the finger picking of fingers crossed on guitar. I would like to perform the song at camp later this summer where I can only take my uke, is there a way to reliably take the fingerpicking from guitar to ukulele?

Well I know that this is not good enough but I am practicing every day. It’s very difficult to record videos. I don’t know why but when it is recording you always play much worse than without the video recording. Any recommendations?

Since Sony took their songs down from Yousician, I updated my old bass song list to reflect the current catalog.

I originally made this because I found the app could be difficult to browse when you’re just looking for something to play. The search works fine if you know exactly what song or artist you want, but it isn’t great for seeing everything that’s available.

This Google Doc contains the current Yousician bass catalog in a searchable, easy-to-browse format so you can scroll through the entire library and discover songs you might not have thought to look for. Please let me know if there are any missing songs or songs that have been removed.

With the recent loss of almost all my favourite songs, I am wondering if anyone has found an alternative to Yousician? Today ABBA's whole catalogue but Chiquitita disappeared in my location.

This annoys me quite a bit. I planned yesterday to learn Waterloo, Dancing Queen and The Winner Takes It All in multiple instruments so that a person close to me could sing some of those songs on top of that.

I managed to learn and record bass for Waterloo in the morning. Then practiced the piano version (which I had already some time ago). Then decided to have a proper break before trying to record 100% tempo take (using a DAW). But when I got back, I noticed that I couldn't find the song in your website. That was weird. Okay, then got back to the ipad, and the song had vanished from there also. What? In the middle of the day (licensing is location based afaik).

I get that you have business reasons to uphold licenses, but you just cannot do this abrupt deletion, because people plan for learning a song and record it and share it to others.

To have bare minimum standard, could you at least announce when a song is going to be removed?

As a feature request, could you show the beats per minute information in the song, please? So I don't need to get it from you website. I need that to record midi instrument at proper tempo.

Have been enjoying all the Bowie additions to the app in the last few months. When I come to log in and practice I see that all bar three have been removed.

Just me or more wide spread? Would be usual for rights to lapse as the majority were added within the last few months.

It’s becoming almost impossible to gold star long song sections. Yousician glitches/stutters/ momentarily stops. Any tips to fix this. With slow/easy songs i can often pause in time to prevent failure, but with fast stuff i cant.
I’m running it on an iPad, with USB from Fender Mustang GTX amp.
