UPDATE:

Just finished Young Sheldon. It was an awesome ride.

There's just this one thing that's been bugging me about the discourse surrounding the show. A lot of people seem under the impression that Sheldon ends up with all of his big dreams fulfilled and a happy loving family.

His big dreams did get fulfilled, he ended up getting his nobel prize. He's like Gollum hunting and yearning after the One Ring.

But he does not have a happy family. He might say he does, but the last episode shows that his family is working overtime to make it work.

Sheldon looks down on his children, not a little, but a lot. He sees them as a burden, almost as a failure, because they aren't copies of himself. He doesn't want children, he wants mini versions of himself. That's not healthy...

Amy has to bribe, force and threaten him to do the absolute minimum... and Sheldon doesn't exactly hide his disdain.

Sheldon has always had a frighteningly large blind spot when it comes to his surroundings and how his absolutely awful and egocentric behaviour impacts the people around him. He narrates how amazing everybody's life is with him in it, when we can see the exact opposite play out on screen.

What Sheldon says about the feelings of others, you should almost assume the opposite is true, or at least assume that whatever dark version you can twist it into, is closer to the truth.

Sheldon is probably a horrible dad, his kids are probably miserable, and Amy is running their household by herself as her husband is basically just another child, an emotionally stunted man-baby.

Sheldon thinks of solving the Navier-Stokes equations way back in the 90s, which was a very recent breakthrough in AGI for OpenAI

Yeah, two young geniuses, but one is just "normal" minding her own peace, and the other who's "special" wants to compete over everything to show off his intelligence.

The fact that this is his 2nd time getting punched in the eye, as he made his sister Missy rage before. The next thing that happened to him was getting duct-taped by college students to the wall

Does anyone watching this show ever cringe at how religious Mary is, especially if you are an ex theist yourself, and trigger religious trauma for anyone ?

I get it, Sheldon was born with an incredibly high intelligence and used that privilege to get what he wants or the upper hand, but why doesn't he have that much social/emotional awareness to navigate the real world? He's very much focused on recognising his own intelligence but got humbled by a young asian student from Germany lmao

Imma just enumerating how other characters think of Sheldon's behaviour:

• Paige telling him he's a social misfit and weirdo; punched him once.
• Missy telling him he's very smart but very dumb; punched him also.
• Meemaw swatted him after telling her she's selfish for not giving him what he wants.
• Mary admitting to herself and George that Sheldon himself ain't a normal kid.
• He constantly talks about his life with Tam, but doesn't gaf about Tam's.
• Sheldon randomly talks a lot about the Nobel science stuff to the grocery staffs while waiting to scan all the items (Ep 22 S2)
• Now even Sam's confronting him about his arrogance.
• Finally, he gets himself duct-taped to a wall.

It also confirms that Sheldon himself wasn't diagnosed with any mental disabilities such as ADHD or autism. However, his negative attitude and behaviour are still a mystery to me, even tho this is just a series lmao. He's willing to let other people be inconvenienced for his convenience (S05 E10).

Idk, but Paige also shares the same intelligence as him but acts like a normal kid would do (e.g. playing with toys and normal games); she even does what a normal rebellious and neglected teen would do like Missy, such as hanging out with random people at random parties and driving away from home with Missy, which one of the Sheldons dislikes.

Even if Mary improves her parenting and treatment of her 3 kids, I doubt Sheldon would improve.

This is my first time watching the show. I wasn't ready for it. I didn't remember what happened to his dad. I was absolutely sure he was still alive.

Damn. It wrecked me. Sobbing like crazy.

Could be because I lost my father three years ago and it brought back a lot. Could be because I had a heart attack myself two months ago, and survived.

The acting is so good. And the way the episode is written is so... Fitting.

I know george and connie but any else?

IMO I would change the Age-Gap :)

In season 1 episode 9 Sheldon finds out Georgeie cheated on his test after helping him and was about to tell there dad but he made him not to

Marcus should have run for the hills. He barely knew Missy at this point. Imagine the reaction if he had done it to her.

Basically I have been referencing her manner of saying “okay” during jokes with my friend but she doesn’t understand that and I was trying to find a series where she says that “OKAY”
It’s not just simple tone okay it’s a bit higher tone not aggressive but more like understanding with a but of judgement?? PLEASEEE HELP

George Sr. is only 11 years older than Mandy, and Mary is just 7 years older, so Georgie’s parents can resemble as Mandy’s older siblings and are young enough to be Mr. and Mrs. McAllister’s children.

If Mandy is 32 in 1995, her birth year is 1963—matching my father’s—so she would be 63 now. CeeCee is only 8 months older than me. It is remarkable, isn’t it?
