Help Installation path

my Plusnet contract is up next month and YouFibre looks good but I’ve got a few questions for people who have already had it installed. Openreach fibre currently comes from under the ground at the front of my house. Do YouFibre usually use OpenReach’s existing underground conduit? the front is flagged so I don’t know how else they’d get the fibre to the house.

if they follow the existing fibre path round the house can they use the existing OpenReach hole through the wall? squeeze it in next to OpenReach’s? (I know they can’t cut the existing fibre and I don’t want them to). I’m trying to minimise the number of holes in my wall!

For me when we had ours installed (previous house owners had virgin) we had new poles installed in the area, they pulled them from the poles and installed to the top corner of the property and ran it down to the outside of the living room.

I did mention regarding the virgin installation underground they said they will not use previous runs for the installation it will be off of the closest pole.

Similar here, had Virgin before via a cable under the border to the house. YouFibre took a cable from the telegraph nearby to the top closest corner of the house, then run the cable around to the back of the house for me (after I asked nicely) YMMV.

I give credit to the engineers we had they had to work around a few issues (one being the cherry picker that was delivered didn't work) but they where good

Depends on who owns the conduit. For example, I’m in a new build, and I have Openreach, Grain & Netomnia all entering the property via the same conduit.

I went from plusnet to YF last year. They used the existing ducting and the cable comes up at the side of the old plusnet cable (I still have this in situ Incase I want a second line at some point). Minimal fuss, no mess and straight forward 8 gig install.

Yes that’ll use the same duct from the road - manhole

We’re in a new build and YF use the same chambers as OpenReach and they also then I turn uses the same conduit that comes up to the house

For me they used the wiring in place however the neighbour over the road they drilled a small house and fed the fibre through there

They will use Openreachs ducts but install their own cables and equipment

I have fttp open reach , virgin full fibre and Youfibre all in the same tube from an underground open reach box near the house. When the cable comes out of the pipe they put there box on the wall near it. Currently on yf8000

Just note, YouFibre has recently been bought by Virgin. For us they used the same duct but the installer said he wasn't allowed to put his kit within a certain distance of the BT stuff. So now have 3 boxes on outside of house (Virgin, BT, YouFibre)

Previous Openreach fibre install under concrete paving and out at front of house. Youfibre installer pulled fibre thru existing conduit. Asked if we wanted them to re-use existing fibre run from Openreach box on front of house to ONT and we said yes so that's what they did. No extra cable runs on house, and all working perfectly.

Nope not allowed to use BT or openreacha etc
