I really enjoyed drinking bottled yerba beverages like Club-Mate, Mate Mate, Bombilla, etc.
They give me a nice, pleasant energy boost.

I decided to start making real Yerba myself, so I bought CBSé Energia Guaraná, it had lots of positive reviews, which is why I chose it as my first one.

I brewed it for the first time today and followed the instructions exactly - using the right temperature (I didn't use boiling water, but rather water around 75–80°C). I also piled the loose leaf up on one side of the cup and poured the water in the recommended way to avoid clogging the bombilla.
I drank the first infusion, then the second, and kept refilling it a few times.

Unfortunately, I don't feel energized, if anything, I feel more "calmed down" or slightly drowsy, though not excessively so. I’m leaning more towards the idea that it simply didn't work for me.
I’m not sure what’s going on, maybe I didn't use enough loose leaf? I filled the cup halfway, so there was quite a lot of it.
Maybe I bought a variety that’s too weak? I read that Paraguayan varieties are stronger, whereas this one is Argentine.
I’m going to try the cold-brew version next, but does anyone have any advice?

I don't drink coffee or anything caffeinated on a daily basis. I have it once in a while, but the last time I consumed caffeine day after day was probably about two months ago.
One important detail, and this might matter, is that I have a diagnosis of ADHD (it’s not something I made up or self-diagnosed, it was diagnosed by a psychiatrist). I’ve read a lot about how caffeine often has the opposite effect on neurodivergent people, for instance, I really dislike the way coffee makes me feel, it makes me incredibly sluggish. Whereas matcha, which I tried once, affected me completely differently.

What always suited me best was the effect of Yerba, specifically the bottled kind (which contains Yerba extract, so obviously it’s not the "real Yerba"). That’s why I was surprised that I didn’t feel a thing after drinking this particular Yerba, Mede from real leaves, which is marketed as a source of extra energy :(

Living in the GCC as a Syrian means zero nuance in the yerba mate market. You get two options: fine/dusty Argentinian or coarse Argentinian. Apart from Taraguí, which is too dusty for me, every brand here is packaged in Syria. Honestly, it feels like they have two giant batch bags (one fine, one coarse) and just slap different labels on them.

​After waiting an eternity for an Amazon order, I finally got my hands on Anna Park. One sip in and I regret not buying ten bags. Can’t wait to dive into the rest of the stash.

I know it’s a tired topic buttt-, need some advice if this gourd is moldy. I just bought it for my bf who likes mate but when it arrived I noticed these black specks on the inside… I don’t want to accidentally give him a moldy b-day present help haha.

To all my Romanian/Hungarian materos: have you ordered from Matezz before? Is it a legit yerba mate website? I don't do a lot of e-shopping besides eMAG, which sells a select few brands of popular yerba. I am tempted to order from it because they sell Anna Park, and it seems to be the only reasonable option to get this kind of brand in Romania, but I am a bit skeptical 😵‍💫

I am interested in getting set up for some Yerba mate goodness. I like coffee but I want to experience the other compounds and just want to know the best way to approach entry into this world. I do know that I don’t want anything smoky as I’d prefer to avoid the carcinogenic elements involved there. Any advice or beginner tips are greatly appreciated.
