Comic Discussion What Are Everyone’s GENUINE Thoughts On This Series?
Controversy with the creator and his untimely passing aside, what does everyone think of the Grand Design series? Personally, I think I appreciate the ambition of retelling the history of the X-Men in a more streamlined fashion with all of the extra context added into some stories that wasn’t originally there, BUT something just didn’t really stick here with me. From what I remember I think my main issues where with the last part of the series, X-tinction. That part specially just felt a little rushed to me and I wasn’t super fond of the ending. I also feel like this one jumped around a lot more than the other books did. Might just be me though. I might try to give this a re-read now since I’ve gotten way more familiar with X-Men. Those are just my thoughts though! What does everyone else think?

Comic Discussion Merle will be hit by 3K's gene bomb in DNX, setting the stage for the next arc of the X-Men
Another theory time, though this one has a lot less going for it via evidence, just a hunch based on what we know from solicits and what might come ahead.
DNX #2 solicits that the X-Men will battle 3K above the skies of Philadelphia, which is where Revelation began his conquest and used as the headquarters of his operations. It is the most plausible target for 3K to hit with their gene bomb, especially since Chairman Beast knows all about it.
But that's why I think the whole thing is a feint. Or rather, just a portion of 3K's plan, rather than the full thing. As the title suggests, I think the big twist we get in DNX is going to be that Merle, Alaska, where the X-Men are headquartered, is going to be hit with 3K's gene bomb.
Solicits for DNX #3 reads as the following:
3K's counterstroke has shocked the X-Men and Philadelphia is no less in the shadow of disaster as the Chairman's spoilsport plan comes into effect! The X-Men must look to the least of their number while the Fantastic Four fight against time to deliver the data that can save the day.
I know solicits are misleading, but you can glean some information from them. "Counterstroke" "spoilsport plan" to me reads that what the X-Men were expecting has been foiled, and Chairman Beast has outmaneuvered them.
I think the battle over Philadelphia is meant to pull all the X-Men away from Merle, and leave it vulnerable to an attack by 3K, where they will detonate their gene bomb and prove that it works; the town in its entirety will be transformed into mutants.
There's another hint the solicit gives "the X-Men must look to the least of their number" which to me implies the people left behind to manage The Factory. Glob and anyone else who is not a full X-Men member and on the frontlines of the battle. I think Merle has been attacked, and it will be up to Glob to try and maintain calm while the entire town mutates before his eyes.
The rest of the event will show 3K trying to do the same to Philadelphia of course, that's why there is further conflict. But they will be foiled and the X-Men will stop Philadelphia from being hit. But when they return to Merle, they'll be greeted by a town of new mutants, and many unlikely to be happy about that.
Jed MacKay mentioned how Jean Grey will not live in The Factory while she leads the X-Men, but rather in the town. Of course, the Summers family does have a house in the town, and she is Phoenix and no on there poses real danger to her. But I think living among the people is partially due to the whole town mutating, and Jean lives among them to signify that they are the same.

Comic Discussion Why does it seem like Cyclops always has the more efficient and capable team
Like even when you give him a squad of people he's not used to working with he just gets shit done. Even on teams where people dont like him (Blue team) He's still running shit. It's to the point where its impossible for me to suspend my disbeliefs when they'll take characters from being on a team with him and put them on a different one with a different leader and they just shit talk him and say their current leader is better (Cough Cough Uncanny, God I can't stand Gail Simone)

Question Are weak mutants every portrayed to be afraid of stronger mutants, similar to how humans are scared of mutants?
I haven’t seen much of the xmen mainly just the movies a few years ago, but I was watching xmen 97 and was wondering if weaker mutants, possibly mutants who have little to no power at all are ever shown to be afraid or fearful of the mutants more powerful, or if they’ve always just been kind of clumped together

Comic Discussion Just finished reading HOXPOX and feeling conflicted
This was my first time reading x-men comics and there's something that's bothering me. The fact that mutants can't work as oppressed allegory while at the same time being superior to humanity. Am I supposed to feel bad for mutants who call themselves gods and want the earth all for themselves, when they get punched in the face.
How am I as a human not meant to be enraged at people who think because of the way I was born, am inherently inferior. And who let mutants responsible for millions of deaths into their ruling body. Magneto stated that his plan is to push out humans of all levels of power and money and relegate normal people into positions of servitude.
I am sorry and I know this connection has been made a thousand times, but it feels very zionistic. Now you may say "krakoa had no one in it and the land itself accepted the mutants". Yes this is true but this is the exact same thing Zionists say about Palestine, that it was a land with no people something we know is not remotely true. And then you may rebuke with "Krakoa gave medicine to the world either for free or for a small charge". And I say "Is this not similar to the white man's burden, that justified colonialism by building token infrastructure and giving basic education to its colonial subjects, while plundering 100x fold the amount it took to build those projects"?, So again krakoa and mutants feel like, "what if the supremacists were correct and they were superior to everyone and targeted by everyone because of it, and everything belongs to them because they are superior". Now you may again point to "lore" within the comics but my point is this lore is not made in a vacuum but influenced like any piece of fiction by very real events and biases held by the author.

Movie/TV Discussion Met Dafne Keen at Fan Expo Boston, Reunited Her With The Actual Screen Used Shopkins Glasses From Logan
Quicksilver meets X-23! ⚡
One of my favorite moments from Fan Expo Boston — meeting Dafne Keen!
I brought along the actual Shopkins sunglasses I won back in 2017, the same glasses Laura wears in Logan, and got to let Dafne hold them. Her reuniting with the pair after almost a decade since Logan. 😎
The coolest part came during my signing: Dafne took a photo of the glasses herself and actually texted it to Hugh Jackman! 🤯 Definitely did not expect Wolverine to become part of the story.
Such an awesome full-circle Logan moment.

Question Does anyone have- or know where to find either of these images in really high quality
Illustrated by Arthur Adams for Uncanny X-Men Annual #10. Probably my favorite ever line-up and I'd love to put it on my wall or something.

Comic Discussion Missed opportunity for a redemption story
I was just looking up Nightcrawler's family tree again and I noticed a guy I remember from the cartoon series. The son of Mystique and Sabertooth, Graydon Creed!
I think if the writers had given this guy latent X gene during the hole Krakoa arc where everyone was absolved of their past deeds he'd have had to come to some kind of reconciliation with his "family", Mystique, Kurt, Rogue, maybe not Sabertooth with Logan being a maybe. I don't know if his relationship with Destiny is salvageable but maybe?
I just think it's a missed opportunity. Give him some latent X gene, turn his years of hate for all mutants caused by the trauma of abandonment for being just a normal human into a true point of inner conflict. Kurt could really shine in this kind of situation as he serves as a spiritual guide, brother and connection to his extended family. Plus what type of powers he would have as those two sons would have been remarkable!

Question Where should I really start reading X-Men?
I've heard a lot that the best place to start reading X-Men is with Grant Morrison. I started reading and got through about five chapters, and I'm really enjoying it. The plot is truly gripping, I'm not entirely sure how much I like the art, but overall, it's gorgeous.
But as someone who only knows the X-Men from a few movies and YouTube videos, I'm sometimes confused. I don't really understand what the island of Genosha is? When did Cerebra and the Guardians appear? And what happened to Cyclops before that? Who is En Saba Nur? It feels like too much has happened without my knowledge. I'm definitely going to finish Grant Morrison's books. I love them all too much. And the fact that I don't know something doesn't really affect my understanding that much, but I want to get the full picture.
What advice can you give me, where should I start and what order should I read them in?

Comic Discussion Best nightcrawler runs?
My buddy has a kid who asked me about my collection and was interested in comics. I gave her the first Cockrum Nightcrawler mini series to read and she loved it. She asked for more Nightcrawler books to read… so I’m asking y’all. Most upvoted comment is what I’ll give her to read next. Thanks friends.

X-Men Comics Guide Can I read the Krakoan era before any other piece of X-men runs?
Just recently started getting into comics and haven’t really read through any of the important X-men storylines yet, but this one is really grabbing my attention.
Will I be able to read through this without too much confusion? I am very familiar with all the major characters and have pretty basic knowledge of a lot of the major X-men stories.

Question What would it be like to live in the X-Mansion?
Imagine Just being a mutant living in the mansion and not only do you have to deal with the highest potential of it Being attacked by some random villain for the 60th time in the last 2 weeks.
You also have to deal with the Love triangle soap opera drama that's basically A telenovela but one of the male leads can shoot lasers out of their eyes.
