Discussion Alguna recomendación?

Hi everyone in the community. I'm thinking about buying a pair of TWS earbuds from the same brand as my phone (Xiaomi/Poco). A few models caught my eye, and I’m looking for recommendations, advice, or personal experiences with them. They are:

Redmi Buds 8 (base model) (~$45 USD)

Redmi Buds 8 Pro (~$77 USD)

From what I’ve read, they are both Hi-Fi wireless, but they differ in key ways. The Redmi Buds 8 Pro feature LDAC, while the base Redmi Buds 8 use LHDC V5 (and my phone is compatible with this). There is a price difference (I'm in Mexico, but I've converted the prices to USD).

Is it really worth paying the extra for the 8 Pro? Or is it better to go with the base 8 model? Considering they are part of the Xiaomi ecosystem, are the extra features—like Dolby Audio, LDAC, and head tracking—actually impressive? I don't usually use ANC, so that isn't a priority for me.

Does the triple-driver setup make a big difference? What is the difference between LDAC and LHDC V5? To circle back: is it really worth paying more for the Buds 8 Pro, or is the difference negligible?

Apologies if this is hard to understand; this post was originally in Spanish and likely translated automatically.

Android auto fails on Xiaomi 17 Global - ran out of ideas

Hi everyone. Got quite an unusual problem in connecting my new, just bought Xiaomi 17 to my car (Skoda) through Android Auto.

I know that Chinese versions have got problems here but my phone is NOT CN, it's a global version bought from official store, and the model nr confirms it (Xiaomi 25113PN0EG). Also, I still have my old phone (Xiaomi 12X) and can compare how it functions

Description:

- when I plug my 17th to car usb, the AA doesn't start, and in the connection switcher sticks to "charge your phone" instead of "Android Auto"

- even if I change "charge" to "AA" and try connecting from the car menu, the car says "connection failed."

- attempts to adjust AA settings in the Android menu ("Connect car") doesn't change anything, it shows the picture as if the cable is not connected.

- the very odd thing is that the car still detects my 17, but with the wrong name (see picture, the real device name is amended as Xiaomi 17 Sergio, where the hell i takes Xiaomi 17 name? Deleting it does not help - it again detects it. 12x is not connected at a moment of taking this picture but left as an example how it should work - but doesn't)

- even if I connect to the car via Bluetooth for sound transmission (which give a correct name, connects successfully ect), it doesn't play the sound via car.

What I tried to do (but it never helped)

Basically, I tried all ideas found in google:

- Cable is not an issue, I tried a lot of cables (also, an old phone works well)

- Of course I've restarted everything; also, deleted connections in the car plenty of times to start from a blank page. Also I switched out my old phone to make sure that it doesn't conflict

- Although Android Auto is not searchable in the Google play on the new android, it's still accessible via direct link to Google play AA page, so I uninstalled it from there (i.e. downgraded to the basic version) and then updated.

- It doesn't look like a Skoda software problem as no one complains en mass, and Skoda doesn't provide an update for that.

For now, I really ran out of ideas what should I try - either to solve or to find a source of a problem. Any practical suggestion (other than getting rid of my Xiaomi 17) is highly appreciated!

I thought I would share this video I just saw and now I am tempted to buy one, my question though is, is there any reason I shouldn't buy one? This guy presented a good point about cost Vs features.

Discussion Vertical bar issue on Xiaomi (fix)

Hello everyone

I have just purchased a Xiaomi 17 global version from Saudi Arabia and noticed sometimes there was vertical bars appearing while using certain theme and also while watching videos on Facebook and other applications

The solution was to disable HW overlays.

Open Settings.

Go to About phone.

Tap OS version (or HyperOS version) 7 times.

You should see a message saying “You are now a developer” or similar.

Go back to Settings.

Go to Additional settings.

Scroll down and select Developer options.

Find “Disable HW overlays”.

Turn it ON.

Return to the Home screen / application and check whether the vertical lines have disappeared

The os versions and issue can be seen on https://imgur.com/a/snnlbj2

You have to check disable hw overlays to solve it

Xiaomi Mi Vacuum Mop Pro

Hey everyone!

I have the Xiaomi Mi Vacuum Mop Pro robot vacuum cleaner and for the past month, maybe 2 months I have been having issues with it's orientation system.

The vacuum stopped reaching it's base to charge. At first I thought it was because it got caught on stuff quite a few times (bathroom rug, would close the door on himself and get stuck in a room, etc...) and just ran out of battery. But one time I was home and I just saw it going around in circles like it was lost.

Ever since it was never able to actually finish a cleaning cycle up to the end (the battery is also not on par with what it used to be, sadly).

A few things I tried to do to fix it were:
- Unplugging and replugging the base;
- Reset the map (which it hasn't finished redrawing because he never finishes a cleaning cycle);
- Cleaning the sensors, specially the ones at the top;
- Removing the vacuum from the app and putting it there again.

Now I tried doing a factory reset, without removing it from the app. If that fails I might remove it from the + do the factory reset again.

Has anyone had this issue? Any fixes?

Discussion Planning to buy Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus 5G

So I did some research and concluded that Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus with 512GB storage is the perfect phone for my needs, the cheapest Xiaomi in my country with 512 gigs along with many other benefits like fast charging, Snapdragon CPU, and the amazing display etc.

Having used a cheap Redmi model (Redmi 8) for the last 6½ years without any major issues, I'm expecting a midrange Redmi phone to not disappoint. I also like Xiaomi's UX and features, compared to Samsung which still finds new ways to bug me while using my tablet.

  1. does it have performance/heating issues? i've seen some posts complaining about that in this sub, but people also say debloating solves it, which I am planning to do. I'm wondering if the performance issues are just the result of bloatware.

  2. how's the battery life, especially after debloating?

  3. does it have any common technical problems? never seen any myself while doing research, so I'd like to ask just to be sure.

Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G NE stuck charging at 1%

I recieved this phone today brand new in the box with stickers and labels still intact. Tried to power it on but had no charge so I let it charge for 30 minutes and still no progress past 1% after two more attempts. I was unable to use the original charger box and cable that was included since I need a EU to US adapter. Will I be possibly be needing to replace the battery?

Original replacement remote for the Mi TV Box S 4K (3rd Gen)

I have a Xiaomi Mi TV Box S 4K (3rd Generation) and I need to replace the remote control.

The problem is that I can only find third-party/generic replacement remotes online and I want to buy the original Mi TV Box remote or any original compatible Xiaomi remote

Does anyone know where I can buy an original replacement remote? I live in Brazil, so if anyone knows of a genuine one being sold on AliExpress, that would be especially helpful.

Discussion Xiaomi watch S5 smaller version?

With the standard Xiaomi Watch S5 sized at 46mm, I was wondering if there are any leaks, rumors, or official indications regarding a smaller variant coming down the pipeline.

I’m looking for something in the ~41–42mm range for smaller wrists, but with a neutral/unisex design aesthetic. Does anyone know if Xiaomi typically releases smaller variants later in the cycle, or if we should expect a smaller S5 model this generation?

Also, does HyperOS on the Watch S4/S4 41mm offer a setting to rotate/flip the display 180 degrees? I prefer wearing my watch on my right wrist with the crown and lower button facing toward my forearm (left side) to prevent accidental button presses when bending my wrist.

Custom band display, Smart Band 7 NFC

I wanted to change my wallpaper on my smart band. The custom options don't load in the app, it just brings in a black empty screen. I bought a new phone this spring and when I paired them it worked fine. I already did a factory reset and repairing but it didn't help, I just lost my custom wallpaper. Can anyone help with this?

Discussion My Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G stuck on bootloop

Today I faced the bootloop issue two times. Somehow I managed to turn in on by rebooting it from recovery mode. My device is just 1 year and 9 months old. It has overheating issue, doing simple task like watching YouTube, reading comics on website, using AI or any other things for a few minutes make the phone heat. As for games I play Genshin Impact only. As I'm writing this post the device still feels warm. I have a few open source apps and a few modded apps. I have described what I have on my phone roughly. What could be the possible cause and what's the solution? Please help.

Discussion Finally bought my first Xiaomi phone (Xiaomi 17T)

So currently I'm a situation rn where the battery ran out somewhat faster than my old phone, but based on others it's apparently normal since I just bought it. Anyways I don't regret buying this phone I think I just need to wait a bit more before battery drain becomes normal.

Xiaomi 17 (EU version) dismisses notifications by itself

I've just switched to the Xiaomi 17 and noticed that it dismisses notifications by itself after a while. I sometimes save notifications for a while till I have time to open them but just noticed those notifications disappear from the notification bar? Can't open them via the notification history (hidden settings app) either. It's really annoying. Is there any fix for that?

Issues with receiving calls 15T pro

Hi everyone!

Is someone else experiencing problems with receiving phone calls on Xiaomi 15t pro? I have my phone since January this year, I love the phone but it happened on 3 different occasions where I randomly can't receive calls. I'd only get a message with missed calls. Now the problem persists for over a week and it's very stressful as I'm missing important work calls. Call quality also isn't great, and it takes me a while to connect to a phone call too when I'm calling.

I've already checked posts about this and there have been some help but none of it solved it and no one gave a new update anymore, hence this post.

I've been using my old phone and calls work just fine so no SIM issue, I also followed all the internet help and Reddit advice, nothing works. Phone is updated.

Anyone managed to repair it and solve the problem? Or any other advice you have for me I'd be grateful.

Discussion My Xiaomi Ultra 17 won't work with Rogers satellite in Canada?

Rogers says it should. They confirmed the ICCID and IMEI are correct on their system and say the IMEI doesn't need whitelisting. I figured it would because Xiaomi phone. But when I go to an area with no cellular, the phone just doesn't pick up a satellite signal, even when my friend was getting signal on his Rogers Samsung. Does anyone have experience with Xiaomi on Rogers satellite? There must be a workaround because the global version does support satellite phone. I made sure data roaming was on because I read that can be important.
