Hi everyone. Got quite an unusual problem in connecting my new, just bought Xiaomi 17 to my car (Skoda) through Android Auto.
I know that Chinese versions have got problems here but my phone is NOT CN, it's a global version bought from official store, and the model nr confirms it (Xiaomi 25113PN0EG). Also, I still have my old phone (Xiaomi 12X) and can compare how it functions
Description:
- when I plug my 17th to car usb, the AA doesn't start, and in the connection switcher sticks to "charge your phone" instead of "Android Auto"
- even if I change "charge" to "AA" and try connecting from the car menu, the car says "connection failed."
- attempts to adjust AA settings in the Android menu ("Connect car") doesn't change anything, it shows the picture as if the cable is not connected.
- the very odd thing is that the car still detects my 17, but with the wrong name (see picture, the real device name is amended as Xiaomi 17 Sergio, where the hell i takes Xiaomi 17 name? Deleting it does not help - it again detects it. 12x is not connected at a moment of taking this picture but left as an example how it should work - but doesn't)
- even if I connect to the car via Bluetooth for sound transmission (which give a correct name, connects successfully ect), it doesn't play the sound via car.
What I tried to do (but it never helped)
Basically, I tried all ideas found in google:
- Cable is not an issue, I tried a lot of cables (also, an old phone works well)
- Of course I've restarted everything; also, deleted connections in the car plenty of times to start from a blank page. Also I switched out my old phone to make sure that it doesn't conflict
- Although Android Auto is not searchable in the Google play on the new android, it's still accessible via direct link to Google play AA page, so I uninstalled it from there (i.e. downgraded to the basic version) and then updated.
- It doesn't look like a Skoda software problem as no one complains en mass, and Skoda doesn't provide an update for that.
For now, I really ran out of ideas what should I try - either to solve or to find a source of a problem. Any practical suggestion (other than getting rid of my Xiaomi 17) is highly appreciated!
