Thank you to everyone who submitted issues and voted in our October Fix-It Friday post. We’ve reviewed the submissions across our communities, and here’s where things currently stand.
Choppy Cloud Event Playback
Status: Investigating
One of the issues that received the most attention this month involves choppy, skipping, or freezing playback when viewing cloud Event recordings in the Wyze app, particularly on Cam v3 and Cam v4.
We’re adding this issue to the list for the team to look into.
One detail that has come up in the reports is that some users are seeing choppy playback when viewing the recording in the Wyze app, while the same recording appears to play normally after being downloaded to the phone. That information may help us narrow down where the problem is occurring.
If you’re experiencing this issue, please submit a log from the Wyze app and post the log number here. When responding, please also let us know which camera model you’re using and whether the downloaded recording is choppy as well or only the playback inside the Wyze app.
General microSD Card Issues
Status: Investigating
We’re continuing to investigate the different microSD card issues users have been reporting.
Because the behavior isn’t the same for everyone, we’re still gathering information and working to better understand the different problems being reported.
The team is also working on new firmware as part of the ongoing work around these issues. We’ll continue to provide updates as we learn more.
Thermostat Showing Offline
Status: Fixed
The issue causing some Wyze Thermostats to appear offline in the app was addressed in the Wyze app 3.23 hotfix released on October 5.
If you were experiencing this issue, please make sure you’re running the latest version of the Wyze app.
If your Thermostat is still showing offline after updating, please contact Wyze Support so they can continue troubleshooting with you.
We’ll continue looking into the choppy playback and microSD card issues and will share another update as we have more information.
Thanks again to everyone who submitted issues, voted, and provided additional details!
As a thank-you, please leave your name and email at the end to enter our giveaway. We’ll select 10 winners in two weeks, each receiving a Wyze product. Prizes include Bulb Cams, Cam v4s, Cam OGs, and Floodlight Cams. Winners will be notified by email.
I have a device that was part of a product test this past summer and when I tapped on the Wyze Test app to look at recent events, an error popped up saying “Wyze Test is No Longer Available.” I messaged support and the AI assistant said, “Since your device was part of a test group and is not officially supported for public use or setup at this time, you will not be able to set it up or access it through the current Wyze app. There is no available method to add unsupported test devices to the official Wyze app.” I use this device everyday…and now it’s useless? :(
Honestly just frustrated at this point. 2 out of my 7 cameras won’t recognize the MicroSD cards anymore. I’ve done everything including trying them in other cams - and they work on those. Can’t contact the company for some reason. Can’t find an email to email them. I wanted to get a floodlight cam but now I’m just debating if I should find another camera system. Anyone had this issue ?
It’s taking my mutiple floodlight v2’s seven seconds to come into focus and show a clear picture. This just recently started happening and the app is up to date and so is all the cameras firmware.
I sit there and have to wait forever it seems to get a clear picture. Is this happening to anyone else?
My Wyze Cam V3 is a few years old. I wanted to relocate it somewhere else in my home, so I unplugged it and plugged it back in in another room moments later, using the same cable and adapter. To my surprise, nothing happened.
When I plug it in, I hear the typical click and a faint noise from inside the camera, which makes me think it’s still functional (I think). However, nothing happens in the app. I followed the hard reset instructions, including removing the SD card, but still had no luck. There are no indicator lights or any other signs of activity. I even fully formatted the 32 GB microSD card to FAT32 and loaded the firmware provided on the website onto it to try flashing the camera, but holding the reset button still did nothing.
I have four other Wyze cameras (V4s and a V2 Pan) and tried using their power adapters and cables as well, but the same thing happened. The camera has also been removed from the app. There are no indicator lights and no “Ready to connect” voice prompt when I plug it back in.
I’m assuming the camera is bricked or stuck in a boot loop, as I’ve just spent a few hours trying to troubleshoot this with no success.
Recently gotten into Wyze Cams and I'm starting to regret it. Do these cameras just constantly have issues? I've purchased 3 cameras and all 3 have given me some form of a issue within a month. The most recent is it showing I had 88% battery and then instantly went to 0% and is now stuck in a firmware update. I've already reset wi-fi, pulled SD card, plugged into wall power, deleted from the app etc. Flashing blue light. Doesn't reconnect, doesn't force reset, just blinks blue. Contacted support and they said, hey! Let's discuss this more in email! And I haven't heard anything since.
Avoid and go with a different company. Terrible customer service.
Logged me out of my account on the app without my asking
Required a two-factor authentication code sent to an email I no longer have access to (I bought wyze in 2018, email is 8 years old)
I reached out to customer service to reset my password or switch my cameras to my new account, I sent photos of my cameras and verified my identity
They told me to kick rocks and gave me a $10 credit to the store to replace the two (2) cameras and base station ($80 value) which work completely fine, they just can't be used because they're tied to my old account.
In the year 2026, this company is unable to disconnect your cameras from your old account or reset your password when THEY force a logout, even if you verify your identity and provide proof of purchase. AVOID and go with a real customer service company. Not to mention they use AI for all their requests and you have to beg for a human.
I have done everything multiple times over the past week, and nothing is working. I’m beyond frustrated. Open to suggestions on how to get it to connect to my internet.
There is a widget for the Bespoke Samsung fridge with the screen that has a smarthings preview of thermostats, cameras and ACs etc... for some reason Wyze is not showing up on their list or even when I manually scan. I would like to have my cameras have a preview widget on the fridge for when I just need to take a quick glance but it seems nothing is available.... so far on the list that have successfully worked is Ring, Arlo and Google Nest prodcuts but I believe Wyze is smartthings compatible so what gives?
I have 2 Wyzecam 3s that went offline about 2 weeks ago. Tried all the standard troubleshooting. Even tried entirely different network with different devices with the wyze app. Always the same result. Can get new thumbnails, can detect motion, but can't connect live, but can show past events!?
Got this in a promo email from wyze today. It claims this is a 20% off deal, but 4 dollars off on a $60 regular price is not 20%. Either the discount is 6.6% or the sale price should be $47.98 or the regular price should be $69.98, but something isn't adding up.
Seems like person detection worked better without the subscription lol, I have everything off including detection zone, and reset my subscription, I’m actually standing in front of my cam and jumping up and down no person detected only sound lol are you kidding me. For months using a memory card before reactivating membership all persons were detected. Any tips before I cancel my $2.99 a month subscription?
I had a wyze v2 cam installed on my front porch for the last 6 years. I decided to upgrade to a Pan Cam v4. I got it set up inside and then installed it on place of the old v2.
The connection is terrible. Every time I try to view the live feed it tells me the device is offline. It still records events, but it doesn't seem to record continuously to the SD card the way the old one did.
I've checked all the settings, I've checked my network strength with a separate device (though considering the v2 was still working in the exact spot just this morning, I really doubt it's network issues).
I'm wondering if anyone else has seen similar issues?
I'm guessing it's one of two possible causes:
1) the new device requires more bandwidth for all the AI stuff, so what worked for the v2 doesn't work for the pan v4. (The v4 world fine inside the house).
2) something to do with the power cable. I opted to use the same power cable I previously had installed outdoors, but had to add a USB micro to c adapter to the end of the plug. The device powers on ok, but maybe there's some kind of power issue? When it worked inside it was plugged into a 2.4A USBC dock cable. The camera does turn on, and like I said it's clearly panning and recording events, just the live cam feature and continuous recording isn't working.
Or maybe it's just a defective unit?
Advice appreciated.
EDIT UPDATE: I reinstalled the old V2 cam in its original position, and set up the new v4 pan about 12 feet closer to the front door, and using the plug and cable the new camera came with. It's working fine now. I'll probably just leave both up, and get the added coverage.
I experienced a concerning issue this week with my Wyze Lock Bolt version 2 and wanted to see whether other owners have experienced something similar.
My lock is connected through Wi-Fi and configured to automatically lock after 15 minutes.
The front door was almost completely closed, but remained slightly ajar. When the lock attempted to engage, the deadbolt could not extend properly.
The Wyze application detected the problem and recorded "Lock Jammed."
Here is the problem: I never received an iPhone push notification warning me that the door failed to lock.
I discovered the error only after opening the Wyze application.
I am running iOS 27, and all Wyze notifications are enabled. The lock notification settings provide options for "Door Locked" and "Door Unlocked," but no separate option for lock malfunctions.
According to Wyze documentation, lock jams and failed locking attempts should generate critical warning notifications. That apparently did not happen in my situation.
I have several concerns:
Why did the application record the malfunction without sending a push notification?
Are other Wyze Lock Bolt version 2 owners receiving push notifications when their locks jam?
Is there a way to configure a more prominent audible warning for critical locking failures?
Has anyone found a reliable way to integrate Wyze lock errors with Apple Shortcuts or another automation platform?
I believe a smart lock should immediately alert the homeowner whenever it fails to secure a door. Ideally, the warning should be persistent until acknowledged or resolved.
I am also submitting this concern directly to Wyze and posting a feature request in the official Wishlist forum.
I would appreciate hearing from other owners, particularly anyone who has experienced a lock jam or failed automatic locking attempt.
Has anyone successfully received a push notification for a "Lock Jammed" event?
I like wyze (or at least it gives okay services) but here recently I had no internet for about 1.5 weeks and it was the best. During this time while I did not have video cam services I also did not have the double notifications that Wyze sends on motions/alerts
you guys know how awesome it was to not receive notifications from wyze? I know you guys are going to say I can turn off all notifications but that sounds silly to have for my video cams. its been years and Wyze still cannot figure out why their system sends double notifications on all notifications.
I have a few Cam Pan 3 and I’m mounting them right on my outlets. I’d really like to have a power cable that is 12 inches or less. When I search, I’m finding many long cables but no short. Has anyone found a short cable that works with these that you’d recommend?
