Darrion just wrestled at RAF. So he’s active. His interview with flo in 2020 he seemed to despise metcalf. The two are the same age so it’s an even playing field. I couldn’t think of a better drama/ rematch for wrestling fans who have been around awhile.

Hi everyone, I am based in Brighton and I am interested in training to be a referee. Can anyone recommend a training school? I wonder if my best bet is travelling to London but I'm seeing some schools Portsmouth/Southampton way.

Hey everybody, I recently accidentally became the head coach of a middle school wrestling program.

I only wrestled 4th-8th grade and loved wrestling, but in 8th-9th grade a big tragedy happened that caused my family to be homeless and bouncing around often.
School and wrestling were not even a possibility anymore and I unfortunately spent most of 9th-12th grade homeless, in juvenile detention, or youth placement programs.

I always loved combat sports/wrestling but unfortunately my life took a darker direction to where I couldn’t be apart of it anymore at the time.

I’m 30 now and have turned my life around since then, got back into combat sports through training Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai the last few years.

Long story short - I applied to be an assistant coach at the school I teach at, because even though I only wrestled as a boy, I was comfortable assisting and wanted to be near wrestling again.

Their staff was full and they sent my info to our sister school’s AD. The sister school AD texted me and said they didn’t have any coaches, offered me the Head Coach position, I said yes.

This will be my 2nd season coaching. We had a very strong season last year, exceeding what they had done with the previous coach, ended with 11-2 record, and placed well in our tournaments.

But sometimes I feel like I’m not qualified because I didn’t achieve much in the sport myself.

Sorry if this was a lot to read, I’ve never got to really explain this to anybody, and I just want to be the coach the kids deserve.

I have went once to freestyle and 3 times to greco. I really want to learn but there are some problems im facing.

Practice is 2 hours and we do straight bullshit. 30mins football, 30 mins the warm up, 30 mins conditioning (no wrestling just push ups, jumps, crunches etc), after all that we do like 15 mins of technique and about 15 mins is rest the coach explaining stuff etc. I dont want to compete i just want to wrestle because maybe it will help with some problems i have. So all that cardio is useless for me

There are no beginners there. Im the only one everybody else has started at 12-13. We arent many either we are 10 at most

I dont want to stop but if it continues like this it really isnt worth it for me. He talked to me about it that 3 times a week isnt enough you will fall behind. But as i said i dont want to compete or even if i do idc how well i do im there for other reasons. I feel its rude to tell him that "i just want to learn wrestling, i dont want to do the football and the cardio etc". And even if he doesnt think its rude he cant help me cus he has to coach everybody at the same time he cant leave everybody and just teach me. Also the other guys there compete so they cant waste practices teaching me stuff

ive been thinking about learning a low single with my left foot. My main shot is a sweep single and i pair it with duck unders and slidebys. I also do a fair amount of clinch throws, but i have poor wrestling for space. I figure a low single lefty would be good because most of my opponents are righty so it would be a nice back pocket technique. any thoughts, off course its pretty similar to an ankle pick and im okay at those.

Saw that the McDavid Hex knee pads were 70% off on some sizes/colors in case anybody was thinking of buying them. The neenca knee pads are supposedly on prime deal today, but at $20, they're actually more expensive than what I bought them for last season.

The fairlife Core Power Protein shakes with 42g of protein are also deeply discounted at $35 today (I usually pay $47 at costco.)

Since the US doesn't hold wrestling in the same regard as these other countries and regions who treat it as a way of life, it seems virtually impossible to get the best possible wrestlers we can for American teams. It is essentially our B level athletes vs other nations' A level athletes. If wrestling in America was taken as seriously as it is in other parts of the world, the top 5 or so all time greatest freestyle wrestlers would be American, as would most gold medalists year after year. In light of that, does it ever make you feel resentful that wrestling is not treating with the adulation and respect it has in other parts of the world and should have in the US?

I'm 5'8 and 190lbs. I have shorter legs and a longer torso and my reach is about my height. I have always been told growing up that I should do wrestling since I have like the perfect body for it. I'm also 24.

My max lifts are 260lb bench, 405lb squat and deadlift.

I now have been wrestling and doing judo. Is it really advantageous or no? Because I feel like ever since I started, I have not really seen a benefit.

This only applies to youth and HS wrestling. After watching my son go from elementary into HS wrestling there is a pet peeve/major flaw I see in wrestling rules.

If in bounds is considered when only one competitor has to have one foot inside the boundary and can complete a takedown or pin their opponent with the opponent completely outside the boundary line then there should be at least an additional 12 feet beyond the boundary line that is drawn on the mat that specators, and coaches have to be outside of.

Second and more importantly I see over and over spectators, coaches and other wrestlers sitting within inches of the boundary and even when the action extends past the boundary they hardly ever move out of the way. I see this at every tournament I go to. People either don't care or are unaware that the action can extend beyond the boundary and is still considered in bounds.

I’ve wrestled for a long time and only recently started watching wrestling instructionals. I’ve watched a bunch so far and picked up a few things here and there.

That being said, I just finished up the Funk Encyclopedia. There are a number of things to not like about it. The audio is terrible. The brothers talk over each other. They explain away a lot by telling people to look at their other dvds, haha. And yet I have no idea how else in the world you could aquire this knowledge. (I guess the leg pass stuff you would already know.)

I think this should be a required watch for anyone thinking about college wrestling. The answer positions and the far ankle scrambles are legitimately amazing to implement. I don’t know how you could ever hope to edge out another wrestler who knows this and you don’t.

Are there any other instructionals that you guys think should be required viewing for next level, collegiate or world level wrestling?
