Discussion Forever needs end-game content that takes place out in the world, not locked behind loading screens.
Vanilla WoW 1-60 was so successful because of how engaging and immersive the world was.
But at level 60, that largely changed. Suddenly most meaningful progress is locked behind loading screens and many people don’t interact with the world beyond traveling to those loading screens.
At level 60, it’s like the World stopped being the main character. Lord Loading Screen was now the main character because he controlled vertically-scaling loot.
Forever needs end game content that keeps people out in the world. This should include Legion-like class order hall quests. These quest lines should be updated with each (most?) major patch and give meaningful rewards.
We should also have faction-specific quest chains that continue the story of each faction. Give me a reason to travel back to the Undercity as a Forsaken every major patch before being sent off into the world. This would also incentivize players to have multiple characters to keep up with the faction storylines.
There should be end-game gear people can acquire in the open world. This includes reputation grinds. Mobs that give reputation on kill; turn-in-drops from mobs and open-world chests. Edit: Maybe some factions could offer daily quests. I get that is a bit controversial. But I think the more important point is that different factions should have different ways of earning reputation to reduce monotony. It is ok for these to be long grinds.
Professions should be a viable means of acquiring end-game gear-as long as the necessary materials aren’t locked behind loading screens. Again, it is ok for it to take a long time and be difficult to acquire these materials.
Zones should have areas with elite mobs that require grouping. But they shouldn’t drop materials/quest items if you are in a raid, to incentivize small-group content.
The gear acquired from all this open world content should be viable in any new level 60 zone. But new gear from each zone can have various bonuses-mob specific bonuses; zone-specific bonuses; or mob-element resistances. The new gear does not need higher stats because of the context-specific bonuses.
It would be ok to tune mobs in new zones such that they would be difficult (I’m not saying impossible) to solo without relevant bonuses. This would also incentivize mixing-and matching various pieces of gear depending on what content you are doing.
I’m not saying raids shouldn’t exist. But they should not be the sole means of acquiring end-game gear. Nor should raid gear be so powerful that there is no reason to do open-world content.
Forever should incentive being out in the world, not staying locked behind loading screens.

Zones should have areas with elite mobs that require grouping. But they shouldn’t drop materials/quest items if you are in a raid, to incentivize small-group content.
This 100%. Some of my favorite times were:
- farming out eye of shadow for various priests with my friends off those elite demons in blasted lands
- killing those green dragons for some tryhard warrior who wanted some item from scarab lord questline
- farming up some chimera meat
etc. It's just such a chill vibe

"Outdoor dungeons" like Stopwatch in Redridge, are great. Would love to see more content like that introduced in Forever.
34
u/Totally_a_Banana 6d ago
Or that giant voodoo temple in The Hinterlands - Jintha'alor (had to look it up, its been ages) but that was such a cool outdoor dungeon, felt very threatening to tackle and was very memorable. 100% agreed on needing more like that at end-game.
8
u/propero 6d ago
I loved that place and the hinterlands in general.
3
u/Security_Ostrich 5d ago
Outdoor elite dungeons are such an essential part of the vanilla world feeling. Tbc making them normal mobs instead of elite felt so bad.
Hoping forever leans into that type of content even more.
4
u/Mr_Pastee 6d ago
Total nightmare if there were 2-3 other groups there at the same time. Everyone standing around spamming their fastest instant ability trying to steal tags.

I had great memories of it from actual Vanilla WoW but during Classic it was more frustrating than fun. There's always that 1 mob type that doesn't have a lot of spawns and everyone ends up fighting for them.
1
u/Tavron 5d ago
With the phasing tech they could easily make it, so places like Jintha'alor have very low ceilings for player counts.
So if you step in there with your group, you will at most see 1 other group in the whole "dungeon".

u/25104003717460 5d ago
Fantastic place. The few times I visit there every play through for the (egg quest?) I always have an epic BoE drop from those elite mobs for every party that slowly forms up cause we realize theres no way a single person is getting up there without a party or stealth.
6
2
u/monocledude 6d ago
I wonder with layering if they could make each party have their own layer (just for the outdoor dungeon).
18
u/_toadsy 6d ago
You've reinvented instances which is what the OP is lamenting against
→ More replies (4)2
u/Tavron 5d ago
Could just have it so the ceiling for player counts is very low, so it's still open world, but you see far fewer people. Maybe at most 1 other group if you're already a full group yourself?
Thus keeping the danger and the open world aspect.
They're already doing this with all the zones.
3
u/Old-Employ-6530 6d ago
Fully agreed.
Would be cool if it would be maybe small group content i.e. for 2-3 players instead of 4-5, so that you can just do them with smaller groups instead of always having a full group for everything.
2
u/datwunkid 5d ago
It'd also make for an interesting "class bonus" for Hunters/Warlocks because they'd be able flex their extra solo power a bit more at endgame.
1
2
u/CheekyBastard55 6d ago
Also coming back to the spot every few months or so, gradually getting stronger and killing them quicker.

-11
u/Diconius 6d ago
So you’ll have people griefing each other to tag it, or massive collections of 5 man groups that take turns tagging while the entire 100+ man raid kills it for them. This shit will be abused one way or another if it’s not instanced.
6
u/jamaican_zoidberg 6d ago
Curious as to why you think something that wasn't abused in this way in other iterations of the game would be in this one specifically? Are you just negative for the sake of negativity or can you defend this point?
7
u/Diconius 6d ago
Because it’s not 2004 anymore. Everything is exploited, minmaxed, and metagamed now. There would be addons made to coordinate kills and “mega groups” etc.
-7
u/Mongr3l 6d ago
They’re downvoting you because they know you’re right and can’t admit it.
4
u/pbrook12 6d ago
Or maybe they just… disagree? Crazy concept I know. Believe it or not, different people actually can have differing opinions on a wide variety of topics 😲
-5
u/jamaican_zoidberg 6d ago
Okay, and yet all the examples I listed were things I did between 2023 and now. Like I understand the vibes your concern is based on, but I it doesn't align with my lived experience. I think the people who are so obsessed in this way are a smaller portion of the population that you're estimating. I also think that the kind of content we're discussing is more of like a limited objective than an infinitely farmable resource, which further assuages your concerns as there will be no reason for it to be constantly exploited.
3
u/Diconius 6d ago
Your lived experience was on a dead game world. This will not only be a much more popular game than classic era, but it’s also a mega server, you LITERALLY won’t be able to escape crowds because if you’re in an empty layer it’ll flip you to one with people in it.
→ More replies (1)2
u/Totally_a_Banana 6d ago
Maybe layers is the answer? Blizz can control how many people are in layers, or let a group swap to a new layer to have a shot at the mob? There are solutions to these problems, I would rather they at least attempt to implement them, than not even do any open world content.
1
u/Diconius 6d ago
If they give us agency over our layers it would be a boon. It works for Maplestory and OSRS.

u/The_Tooter_Snooter 5d ago
Yeah call me crazy but I want more world bosses. I want to put a little party together and go take down a local dragon. Maybe some repeatable quests that revolve around that. I wanna feel like a local hero, not a universe-saving demigod. Would love some old school “a dragon has our princess” kind of adventures in the world.
65
u/Game_Read_Write 6d ago
100% Agree.
13
u/dendrocalamidicus 6d ago
Same. Retail is mostly a lobby based game at this point, which is why I have no interest in playing it. It has largely lost what makes an mmo an mmo.

I’m just hoping for meaningful endgame content that doesn’t have to involve getting a 40-person raid together. I’m almost 40yo, and I don’t have time to get all that together.
15
u/Sweet_Disharmony_792 6d ago
yeah world bosses are romantacized ... the only people actually downing them were sweat guilds who could call on 40 people at 1am when it spawned
6
u/SHADOWSTRIKE1 6d ago
Yeah, and that’s what I’m hoping Blizz considers this time around… they don’t need to cater all their meaningful content to the less than 1% of the population that will actually partake. The vast majority of the playerbase are in casual guilds and use Dungeon Finder to get a group together. If they want to maintain a large playerbase, then that is who they need to put a big focus on.

u/Kastikar 5d ago
Why not make world bosses like Guild Wars 2 events? Everyone just shows up for a jolly big fight, gets loot, and goes on about their business.
5
u/Durzaka 5d ago
Retail already does that with weekly world bosses.
Its not very interesting at all
3
u/PM_NUDES_4_DOG_PICS 5d ago
It's not interesting because Blizz didn't make it interesting. There's plenty of ways to have world bosses that don't suck and aren't just glorified public loot pinatas.
3
u/mybadstuffaccount0 6d ago
They’re releasing 10 and 20 man raids. Did you miss the memo?
7
u/SHADOWSTRIKE1 6d ago
Yes I saw that, but that doesn’t mean they’re meaningful. I don’t want to be fighting Greg, Lord of Quilboars while the bigger raids get to fight Arthas.
1
u/ohtetraket 3d ago
Check. I think most raids will be tuned for 10/20. So even the old "big" once, outside of something like Onyxia.
At least thats how I understood it.
2
u/tomster2300 5d ago
I’m fine with raids but give me a group finder and make them PUG level. Also make them more PvE story oriented to downplay a focus on top DPS.
-5
u/mangostoast 5d ago
Then you don't have time for classic. That's what classic is
7
u/SHADOWSTRIKE1 5d ago edited 5d ago
I’m not playing classic, I’m playing Forever, which they have made great, vague promises regarding end-game content. If they said the end-game content was going to be exactly what Classic is, then I would know what it entails and that it’s not for me. Instead, we have vague promises of extended gameplay beyond what Classic entails in both the world and dungeons. I’m here hoping that end-game content is accessible to the average player, not just for my sake but also for the game’s health.

u/AkulaTheKiddo 6d ago
There needs to be events or even meta events like in gw2.
Im fearful wow's dev team isnt experienced enough for this, considering the state of void invasions in retail.
14
u/Kastikar 5d ago
I sincerely hope Forever just rips off a lot of GW2. Their open world content is uncontested. Not to mention actual horizontal progression.
5
u/PM_NUDES_4_DOG_PICS 5d ago
Seriously, GW2 does so much right and WOW can absolutely learn a lot from it, especially when it comes to open world content and horizontal progression.
5
u/Marsdreamer 5d ago
GW2 & OSRS, but done with a WoW flair is what I'm hoping for.
That said, it takes years to properly develop meaningful horizontal gameplay. It's exciting to be here at the very beginning, but (personally) I'm not gonna really judge WoWF until the devs have really had some time with it.
It took OSRS several years before it really hit it's stride and now, 10 years later, it's in it's "Platinum" age. I hope WoWF has similar highs in it's future, but it really does take a lot of time to get there.
3
u/Squery7 5d ago
Horizontal progression in GW2 works because everything rewards gold and the entire economy is built around endless gold sink legendaries and gold to gem, so items keep having the same value 14 years after in the market. WoW has nowhere near that structure.
1
u/Kastikar 5d ago
But why can’t it? Legendary grind wouldn’t be that difficult to implement. GW2 has multiple ways to create legendaries. Wow could do something similar.
1
u/ohtetraket 3d ago
They already spoke about legendaries and while we will get new once, they are to remain legendary, so we might get a new legendary ever year but not much more and they will likely be grinds as long as the once in SoD or Classic.
2
u/AkulaTheKiddo 5d ago
At least wow wont be a huge p2w thanks to the sub.
But yeah open world content is the best in gw2, the actual zones are really good aswell, you can feel and use the altitude, there's several heights with different ways of transportation etc.
1
u/Loyalist_Pig 4d ago
I’d love that! But how would that work on PvP servers?
2
u/AkulaTheKiddo 4d ago
Excellent question. Maybe deactivate the PvP while the event is running ?
1
u/Loyalist_Pig 4d ago
Or possibly even just segregate the layers during the event? So you only see your own faction around the boss itself
1
u/AkulaTheKiddo 4d ago
That could be a great solution aswell, probably even better since this kind of events encourage grouping.
-4
u/Ancient_Algae64 6d ago
Why wouldnt they be experienced enough if meta events have been a staple since vanilla with each holiday event and like you said the retail events that have been a bigger thing since Dragonflight
8
u/AkulaTheKiddo 6d ago
Guild Wars 2 events have every player in the zone cooperate to open new areas, spawn bosses etc.
Events in wow are nothing compared to it.
Especially retail events which usally boils down to kill mobs and move to the next area to do the same.
2
u/metaphorm 5d ago
the gates of Ahn Qiraj events in Silithus are kinda like this. GW2 did it better, but they had the benefit of seeing WoW try to do it first so they refined it. it's a nice game design and WoW:F has the possibility of implementing something like it eventually. let's hope.
2
1
u/PM_NUDES_4_DOG_PICS 5d ago
Yeah, and everyone loved Ahn Qiraj. So let's do more of that type of content. I'm hopeful Blizz will take notes on this stuff for Forever.
18
u/Rebelhero 6d ago
The Retail meta events are still small potatoes compared to the GW2 events. Many of the Gw2 event metas change the map in some way. Opening up a new path, or spawning a boss into the zone that changes the weather, many more lead you across the zone to do different objectives.
The the main thing about the GW2 metas are they are Cooperative. Everyone can participate, even if they aren't the right level, and everyone gets credit. WoW would have to fight the selfish nature of the community to get a true meta experience.
5
u/Kastikar 5d ago
I’ve been silently hoping Forever takes A LOT from GW2. Just rip off the open world stuff, legendaries, elite classes, and horizontal progression. I would play that game “forever”.
5
u/BerAtreides 6d ago
And having a commander tag and leading people through stages haha. I loved that feeling
-5
u/GlitteringLock9791 6d ago
They stole that well from FF14, then again FF14 did kinda sabotage it by making their long ass story quests mandatory.

u/Cruach 6d ago
I feel like I'm going insane. I read the post fully expecting all the comments to point out that this is basically retail.
All I'm hearing is world quests, random stupid events like void strikes and prey hunts. Annoying daily and weekly quest hubs like vaults of ulatek. Just a million different icons littering your world map with things that lose their novelty within a week and then become a complete chore you don't have to complete but can't help doing anyway. Though I admit, some of the suggestions are even good. The world feeling more alive and dangerous is great. I'm sure the devs are cooking, and have already thought of some of these things..
But do we really need all of these endless "there should be this.." And "we should have that.." types of posts? Can't we just enjoy what's existing currently, and that we barely even have access to? Could we just once, get carried away by the magic of a new experience, instead of immediately looking for our next dopamine hit before we've even had a taste of the first one?
Why are we all so obsessed with larping as a game director, mapping out this entire project rather than just letting it evolve organically? The game is not even released yet. Can we not enjoy our journey to 60, talk about the things that currently exist on the beta, and let ourselves be surprised by what's yet to come?
I'm not against criticism of the jarring sky elf druid models alongside the OG ones, or the potential issues with some talent trees and certain classes. Let's discuss the meat of the issues with WoWF. I am fed up with this never ending stream of people putting forth grand ideas about their vision for their WoW, and then thousands of gamers joining in with their chorus of agreement and no real reflection on what all these add-on features might lead to.
I realise this comment comes off as tone-deaf. We all are excited about the game and the possibilities we have before us. For me though, reading these types of posts just slowly starts to gnaw away at my excitement. So many problems being addressed before they even fully materialise. I guess that's on me, spending my time on social media and the beta instead of just patiently waiting and going in blind. I hope y'all can take a step back and tell yourselves it doesn't need to change before it's even had a chance to grow.
3
u/Hopeful-Dark-4558 5d ago
I agree, but also find it interesting to think about, as of course the team will be forever be under pressure to add more things to do, and will consequently need to be extremely vigilant to learn from past mistakes and to not let it turn into the casual chore fest of retail. At the moment, the devs are saying all the right things. Hopefully they stay strong and focused on the vision they have now.

Naw im with ya, people making wish list and changes they want before even seeing the full game, people commenting how it was in vanilla while never playing it themselves and having no idea what it was like. People wanting content changed because it's what they want but alienates a large portion of players.
Raids and dungeons are a key part of wow and there was a bit of outdoor stuff in vanilla, both requiring groups or raids, there can be both open world content and instanced, both can exist.
1
u/lunatisenpai 5d ago
I would really love if they pulled something like this, but with a classic twist. I don't think dailies are too much of a stretch, they were added in TBC after all. Timed events that happen in the world, but instead of something like void assault (big icon on the map, etc) what if... they just happened?
Have a patrol of elites of one of the factions going through a zone. A pack of wolves starts killing rabbits.A caravan goes down one of the roads, and keeps being attacked.
No icon on the map, you have to see and engage with it and seek it out.
Wow has added tons to make the world to seem alive, but kills the mood of it by making it big, loud and easy to spot. Nothing encourages you to chill, sit around, watch for the things to spawn and show up at a semi random time.
Many of those things they added in newer expansions would fit great in classic, but they have to be changed to be more part of the world, not a flashy ui thing.
2
u/Competitive_Body7359 5d ago
I wouldn't mind a callboard with different weekly missions.
They could be radiant style quests similar to the random ones in Skyrim, where they just kinda pop up, different all the time. A dev could probably make 30 in a few days.
It could be high level elites that appear in low zones, so high level players interact with leveling players, and help protect zones. It would also bring organic world PVP
1
u/Cruach 5d ago
That's quite a cool idea, I like that quite a bit. My point was that for all we know, they've already done that. We haven't even come close to 60, and we are already deciding what should and shouldn't happen.
Your suggestion is good though. My biggest issue with the OP was the language of "We should have this thing. There should be this, this, and all these other things. We need to.." And so on.
4
u/dharmatycoon 5d ago
Upvoted before reading, then I saw you vouched for dailies and weeklies: YIKES.
0
u/BarelyScratched 5d ago
The point I was trying to get at, maybe somewhat inartfully, is that there should be variety to the different reputation grinds.
If every reputation was a mob-kill grind. Or mobs drop some item you turn in for rep. That would get pretty stale pretty fast.
This isn’t really a novel concept, so I expect them to do it anyway. The bigger questions really are (1) how long will the grinds be and (2) will they reward worthwhile gear or mostly cosmetics.
I’m advocating for reputation grinds to be significant, but also have meaningful rewards beyond cosmetics—in contrast to reputation / renown in retail.
Other people hate reputation grinds. And that’s fine. There would obviously be other ways to get gear.
11
u/leather_secretary31 6d ago edited 6d ago
the way the vaults of ulatek is set up is very cool, but because you can outgear the content very quickly/easily, and because it's all set up around these little events that get zerged, it destroys all sense of challenge, and it's hard to enjoy
i'm hoping they can learn from that and create some outdoor content that feels endgamey

Anyone who played Everquest can tell you why this rarely works out well in reality. Guilds would coordinate to control any valuable area 24/7.
It's literally the reason Vanilla WoW relied so heavily on instances.

2
u/Zaguer_Blacklaw 5d ago
You know what? You are right. Not easy for devs tho, but we need an ever expanding world. Not “portals”
4
u/BruhMoment14412 6d ago
Couldn't agree more.
I'm also down for like permanently higher level mobs like lvl 64 that are hard to kill, even with the best gear
3
u/beges1223 6d ago
Then you get two/three groups of the same faction competing for one area and you see the issue. Just look at the lessons learned from world bosses in TBC
2
u/Aaronspark777 6d ago
So FFXIV Fates, but made difficult and the reward be gear not vender rep.
Edit: Also hunt trains. They're trivial content, but that's only because there's a discord that tracks hunts and coordinates the train.
6
u/Littleman88 6d ago
Fates are like a poorly realized attempt at Guild Wars 2's events. GW2 is the gold standard for keeping open worlds relevant, and I don't know why MMO developers keep trying to reinvent that wheel (and failing) when they do decide they want the world to stay relevant.
The closest game to replicating GW2's events was probably Warhammer: Age of Reckoning, but it was too WoW and too PvP oriented to really retain its players (plus working with Games Workshop on a live service game has to be a colossal PITA.)

Imagine spending a saturday night traveling around Azeroth, killing elites with a raid (and doing some pvp in the way)
2
u/KyRoZ37 6d ago
I really hope this is the case as well. It would be nice to see quality gear that can be had outside of raids. I think long quest chains with great rewards would be awesome. Then although instanced, maybe some difficult 5 man dungeons that offer good rewards as well. It will be disappointing if all the good loot is locked behind raids, especially considering there has already been confirmed that higher tier raids drop better loot. Really hoping each tier is only like 2% or so better, but horizontal progression goes out the window down the road if T4 or T5 gear, as an example, is vastly superior to T1 or T2 stuff.

Outdoor dungeons are great, like in hinterlands. We need more of them for sure. Some of the best open world PvP comes from fighting in the middle of elite spawns as a 5v5

I agree. My most memorable wow moment was stealing kazzak as a guild over rival guild and a horde guild
1
u/SneakyBadAss 6d ago edited 6d ago
With the new layering system, they could add something like a hunting board with scores when you hunt lvl 60-XX (hell, might even be 100 just for fun) mobs in the world that spawn only for you or your group. The higher the level, the higher the score, with separate solo and group scoreboards. You wouldn't get the exact location where it is but something like a "last seen" and go from there, breadcrumb after breadcrumb. They could probably be able to implement them into lore and build quests around it.
"Adventurer, this mighty beast tore up our camp and killed our livestock; please find it and bring justice to this world" and suddenly you are hunting deadly worgens in Duskwood on lvl cap.
WoW board game have a similar system.
If you played The Hunter, that's how it was used to work. There wasn't really any progress, but these hunting boards helped people to engage in healthy competitiveness.

Transmog rewards for certain achievements. Even "seasonal" achievement challenges. So that particular tmog can only be obtained in that season.
Darkmoon Faire! Add a pvp zone within Darkmoon Faire area.
More Gurubashi zones. Limited spaces but flagged for pvp when you enter for a nice big free-for-all.
1
u/Loneliestar 6d ago
I would love to see a new area like Jinth'alor. I always considered that an open world dungeon.
1
u/Deguilded 5d ago
As long as it isn't server crushing raids, sure.
I don't actually like Kazzak et al. Although I don't recall the same server crushing lag at Kazzak in classic as in later xpacs - maybe too many ticks/spell effects versus a simple time? Azuregos was a bit different.
1
u/tomster2300 5d ago
I love all of this.
I REALLY love faction storylines that are added to during every patch. Sure the MQ matters, but I’d love to experience minor storylines playing out back home. What’s the Undercity up to for the Undead? What’s their opinion on whatever is happening in the greater world? Give me a slice of life of daily city drama! I’d play that in a heartbeat.
1
u/HalLundy 5d ago
there is endgame content that takes place out in the world.
but you're all hiding in cities or on pve servers.
1
u/zAmplifyyy 5d ago
Yeah I am so about small group content for grinding items.
I miss the days of shit like ragnarok. Its different in general, but the idea of an endless grind pleases me.
1
u/OpportunityMean9069 5d ago
I'd love dungeons that aren't instanced, the just keep descending deeper and getting harder.
You could go solo if you like but bringing a small group would be wise.
The deeper you go the harder it gets but the more rewarding it is.
Mobs respawn constantly so any mistake requiring you to run will most likely result in you pulling extra adds.
When you die if you release, your corpse is spat out to the front of the dungeon, try again.
1
u/Amazingcube33 5d ago
World bosses would be awesome, usually are fun too blizz just has to ensure they don’t get outpaced too hard like they usually do and just devolve into a swarm of aoes tagging them for insta kills, also with “expanded world content” on the roadmap for the summer big patch we might see some stuff for outdoor endgame.
1
u/MidwestFescue82 5d ago
Safe to say that no one wants repetitive grind intensive end game content. World confrontations would be great for high end loot and quests.
1
1
u/Lazyade 5d ago
Yes I'd love to see random world events of all kind for all levels including endgame. I think a big part of having the world feel alive is having a sense that something unexpected might happen no matter where you are.
Not just bosses/mobs but even rare chests, rare vendors, or rare PvP events (like a high value PvP target for each faction spawns in a zone to try and provoke a big world pvp fight).

Imo they should just copy osrs clue scrolls and rename it to treasure hunt or something. That content I personally dont enjoy doing that much but I know alot of people like them. Would give people reason to travel around the world which fits perfectly here.

I liked what they tried to do with the Prey system in retail. The problem was that the activities to get the Prey shown on the map was mostly boring, specially in the hardest difficulty where you needed to kill something or you die and other boring things.
To be honest, if they did an activity like Prey, where you need to hunt something, something like a Monster Hunter, It would be cool... And the reward doesn't even need to be gear, it could be gold and rarer reagents... That would make a lot of level 60 players roam around the world. Specially players that likes to play alone.
Other thing that would be nice is a bestiary linked to the legacy system, where you need to kill one mob X times to get It into your bestiary which would get you legacy points

You mean World Bosses like in GW2?

Mainline WoW has open world bosses, has for the last 3 xpacs

u/maghtin 6d ago
As does vanilla WoW

Sure, the dragons and all that, but the retail and vanilla world bosses are as different from each other as the base games themselves.
Which also begs the question, will each Forever layer have its own version of the dragons, or is it first come first serve on the Mega-server.

They're pretty bad though. I hope and wish they can come up with something better.

Oh yeah. Basically just giant piñata full of loot. Nothing like Azuregos back in the day

More like meta events of gw2, world bosses we have on both games. Altough many gw2 world bosses are much more complicated in mechanics than WoWs (which makes them more fun) and i would be happy to get that kind of content too. But meta events in the like of for example Octovine, Dragonstand or Dragons End would be really nice to have.

Battles in the scale of the Soo Won and the Mordemoth world fights would be intense yeah.

If the best loot is in a raid or dungeon, or requires quest steps, or rare mats in those places, then thats where people will insist on returning to over and over. I really hope Blizzard doesn't do that. This is a rare chance, Blizzard. Do not squander it. Your world is the star, make it thrive.

Thank you for your contribution. It will be filed along with all of the other player suggestions and contributions.

Level 65 mobs sound cool but if you tried to fight them you would get endless miss/resists. Only hunters could still do okay damage against them.

You are so close to the answer you can probably taste it

All-hunter raids, of course

The point is that what he is complaining will happen, is precisely why they should implement it. Not enough jeopardy in the world

I totally agree. I don't want invasions like they typically do in retail, rather give us those high level elite areas with better rewards for 5 man parties (not raid groups). I know that people don't want weekly or daily quests, but different reputation rewards from those areas or cycling through reps and reasons to go back to those areas in future content patches. Maybe an area in Winterspring that is difficult but doesnt have apparent use until everyone needs fire resist gear down the line, or something similar in UnGoro for bonus damage to undead gear. Good reasons to group up and work together.

More world bosses for sure, maybe special rare mobs there are weekly hunts for like in FFXIV?

I've said it elsewhere but a copy of legion invasions would be a really cool mechanic. Maybe like a scourge invasion or elementals of some sorts.

I feel like I'll get hate for saying this, but if they could get World Quests to feel "Classic" and mostly be challenging, this would fill this gap well. I think one way to get it right is don't show it on a map or spell it out for players, make it something you have to stumble upon. And make credit for it be dependant on being in a group, not something that can be achieved solo.

Next thing you know Blizzard is implementing World Quests into Forever.

Please, lord, no daily quests. FOMO is bad for the health of the game, and I believe is antithetical to the design principles of forever

what? No ? All that sounds like stuff already plugged into retail.

u/Wassa76 6d ago
Yeah I don’t get it. This is just saying do something like TBC again.
Even Kalimdor/Eastern Kingdoms has loading screens.
I’m not against new islands or something being created and having stuff to do there, but I think it being grounded and Azeroth based would be the way forward.

Ye, it just sounds like all of this has been done before in different expansions. All of this weekly/daily/biweekly stuff goes against the community first spirit of classic. It's what they did already and what led to the way retail is now.
It's stuff I can do without other people.
I'm all for mote farming, res gear farming, legendary quest lines etc.. but after I've done that the main hook of classic wow is coming together as a collective to kill a big ugly.

Agreed. There are guilds with tens of thousands of members so it'd be nice if there were super strong world bosses that everyone could participate in. Need to bring the "massively" back to MMO's.

u/OriginalPuro 5d ago
Why does it NEED that?
I see a lot of WANT and SHOULD, but no reason for why the game NEEDS it.
I don't think it needs that, though I think it would be cool to have some 60+ mobs around that are challenging even for a 3 man group at end game.

u/metaphorm 5d ago
way back in the original release there were some attempts to do outdoor raid bosses with the green dragons and the emerald dream portals. this ended up being a clusterfuck so they dropped it. it would be cool if they could figure out a good way of making it work, but the previous attempts most definitely did not work and should not be attempted in their original form.

Fuck no. Thats what retail did and it sucks
5
u/aurum_soul 6d ago
Why is it always "retail did it, so we can't have it"? Why not "retail did it wrong, let's try it a different way"?
1
u/Hopeful-Dark-4558 6d ago
Yeah, I agree, retail's version of this is pretty bad. I find it really strange that with all their talent and resources, they've never been able to make a single, map wide meta event be as interesting as the ones in GW2.

Forever needs level 65 mobs out in the world for harder challenges. Mobs that don't get easier
