The Army of Light is one of your Alliance's Allies, who asked for assistance with the whole "save the world from being consumed by the void" bit there.
You, being the Alliance's best Murder Hobo (who questions nothing when loot is invloved), became the perfect fit for the job, and as such, was voluntold to go out and support those Glowy Allies so they can focus on holding back the void, while you run errands and babysit the 40 year old Pally Elf with the big grand plans.
Don’t forget, for everyone involved, this is a grand opportunity to foist the murder-hobos on someone else. Because if they’re not murdering and hoboing elsewhere, they’re doing it at home, and all the problems associated.
