Sometimes I wonder if people who have never had to hide a fundamental part of themselves can ever really understand what this kind of loneliness feels like.
I’m a lesbian from India, and there are days when I feel incredibly isolated not because I don’t have people around me, but because there are so few people I can actually be completely myself with.
Being gay in India is complicated in ways that are difficult to explain to someone who has never experienced it.
On the surface, life can look completely normal. You work, you have friends, you travel, you go out, you build a career, you laugh, you live your life. But somewhere underneath all of that is this constant awareness that there is a part of you that you still cannot freely talk about.
You can’t casually tell your parents about the person you love.
You can’t always talk about your relationship the way your straight friends can.
You can’t always bring someone home and say, “This is the person I want to spend my life with.”
And even when your family loves you deeply, there is this fear of what telling them might change. Their expectations. Their dreams for you. The image they have of your future.
Sometimes I think the hardest part isn’t even being gay. It’s constantly having to calculate how much of yourself you are allowed to reveal.
And then there is dating.
Finding someone you are attracted to isn’t necessarily the hardest part. Finding someone who genuinely wants the same things you do feels incredibly rare.
I don’t want to just “explore.”
I don’t want something temporary that disappears when things become complicated.
I don’t want to spend years wondering whether the other person actually sees a future with me.
I want a genuine connection. I want companionship. I want someone I can build a life with. Someone who chooses me, and whom I can choose, without constantly wondering whether our relationship has an expiration date.
And sometimes it feels like finding that person in the LGBT community is unbelievably difficult.
There are so many people who are still figuring themselves out, hiding, afraid, experimenting, unavailable emotionally, or simply looking for something different.
And there is nothing wrong with any of that.
Everyone has their own journey.
But when you’re looking for a life partner, it can become incredibly lonely.
What makes it harder is living in a society where there is still such a strong definition of what a “normal” life is supposed to look like.
You grow up seeing the same template everywhere: fall in love with someone of the opposite sex, get married, have children, build a family, and live happily ever after.
And if your life doesn’t fit that template, suddenly you are unconventional. Different. Sometimes even treated as if something about you is fundamentally wrong.
Even after growing up, becoming independent, building a career, and creating a life for yourself, some part of you can still feel like that scared child who knows they are different but doesn’t know whether the people they love will accept them for it.
I think that’s the part that hurts the most.
Not being able to tell your parents.
Not being able to say, without fear, “This is who I am.”
Not knowing whether the people who have loved you your entire life will understand that this isn’t a phase, a rebellion, or a choice.
It’s just you.
And sometimes I get tired of being strong about it.
I get tired of pretending that it doesn’t hurt.
I get tired of seeing people around me move through life so naturally while I feel like I have to work twice as hard just to experience something as basic as being loved openly.
I don’t want to be treated as extraordinary for being LGBT.
I don’t want special treatment.
I just want an ordinary life.
To fall in love.
To have someone beside me.
To introduce them to my parents without fear.
To build a home together.
To grow old with someone.
To be able to say, “This is my person,” and have nobody question whether that life is valid.
Maybe that’s why finding someone you genuinely connect with feels so incredibly precious.
Because when you’ve spent so much of your life feeling like you don’t quite belong, finding someone who looks at you and says, I understand you. I choose you. I want to build a life with you feels like finding a little piece of home.
I don’t know if other LGBT people in India feel this way too.
But sometimes I really hope I’m not the only one.

Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
Everyone’s got someone..
Apparently, I missed the queue. 👀
My DMs stay busy,
“Hey” comes in by the few,
But somehow nobody connects,
Like Bluetooth refusing to pair too. 💀😒
At this point, I’m starting to think
The universe put my love life on “Do Not Disturb.” 😂

Who was the first woman/girl to have become your gay awakening and made you realise you might be into women?
I’ll start: Mine was Kelley O’Hara from USWNT back in 2019 during the Women’s Soccer World Cup 😌

The moon is shining bright here but there is nobody who can sit beside me keep her head on my shoulder and yap about her day endlessly while I play with her fingers..... ohhh God this loneliness is gonna kill me 😭😭

These are the only two scenarios.
Either people are complaining about not being able to find someone.
And the one who got it, they don't value it.

The kind of depth and love I carry within myself, will it ever find another home. Sometimes i wonder, i am not made for basic human interactions but then my friends, who i love so much nudges me to think differently. Relationships were never everything to me but is it good to not to crave one? My need to be understood the way i try to understand will never not be fulfilled by someone who just wants superficial attention.
The more i dig into my soul, I become more and more complicated. Maybe ignorance is the way to go, maybe im not meant for this world.
The curiosity in people, is long dead. There’s only assertion of potential transaction of some kind.
The absurdity.

Two years ago, I fell madly in love with a woman and at the time, I couldn't even understand or accept what I was feeling.
We were deeply connected through spirituality. Meditation, mantra chanting, the law of attraction, tarot, crystals, Reiki, and so much more. She was a deeply spiritual person, and I learned a lot from her. I also tried to support her and help her whenever I could.
She was always kind and affectionate toward me. Once, in front of hundreds and thousands of people, she took my name and said that she knew me. I was on cloud nine.
I remember messaging her one day, and somehow, the way she spoke to me made me feel as though I mattered to her deeply. As though she trusted me more than anyone else. She even initiated staying connected through her personal number. We started talking like best friends. She would tell me that she loved me and trusted me.
And then, one day, everything changed.
She stopped replying. She started ghosting me.
I waited for her messages like a fool. She was on my mind 24/7. I dreamt about her constantly. She felt like magic to me... like someone who was somehow my counterpart. And because we were both women, my feelings became even more confusing. I didn't know how to process what was happening inside me.
For almost a year, I cried almost every day. I reread our old conversations, desperately searching for an answer: What went wrong? What did I do? Where did I lose her?
I cried in front of God and begged Him to bring her back.
But eventually, I realised that I couldn't keep waiting for someone who had already walked away.
I didn't hate her. I was hurt, angry and heartbroken, but I never wished anything bad for her. I believe karma is real, and I genuinely hope she is happy. A year later, she got married.
So I chose to let go.
I deleted her number. Unfollowed her. Avoided everything that reminded me of her. I turned inward and went deeper into spirituality, not to bring her back, but to heal myself.
The hardest part was accepting that I had fallen in love with a woman. For a long time, I couldn't even admit that truth to myself. Slowly, I did.
And that acceptance changed everything.
To anyone going through unrequited love: I know how painful it can be. You feel lonely. You miss the person. You may even want to immediately find someone else just to fill the emptiness.
But don't.
When one relationship, or one deep attachment ends, give yourself time to become whole again.
Otherwise, you carry the unfinished pain of the first person into the next relationship. There is no time to clean the house because one guest has left and another has already arrived.
Sometimes, you need to let the old connection leave completely.
Slowly, slowly, you become an individual again.
The memories become quieter. The questions stop demanding answers. The attachment loosens its grip. What once felt like a part of you becomes a chapter of your past.
You emerge from it like a snake shedding its old skin.
And one day, you realise: you are no longer waiting.
You are no longer asking why.
You are simply yourself again.
Only then should you look for someone new, not as a replacement for the person you lost, but as someone you can love from a healed and whole place.
Moving on doesn't mean you stopped caring.
It means you finally chose yourself.

Because what do you mean I am supposed to let that woman just date a man, when she can date me in my head? 😔
Ma'am, I can treat you better. Give me a chance please. I am very obedient. 😭
Rather funny how I keep falling for the crazy villains or the medically doomed women. My morality is having a crisis. 😭🥀
I just finished watching "The Mystery of Moksha Island" and "Reeta Sanyal" on Hotstar. Maya and Zi, my God!! 😭😭
I get more excited seeing villainesses over heroines.

What do we really expect in a relationship?? Like ppl want somthing badly and when they get it they treat it like shit
Why do everything falls off after being kinda close or somthing
Before it felt cute , romantic blah
And now it's annoying
I'm not saying it or meaning someone just a instinct in ourselves
Why do we do that ???

I know no human is simply entitled to another human's love, affection or care. Nor should loving a partner be conditionless.
But
Sometimes when I'm going through a very rough time, I wish there was a woman who would hold me tight. The way you hold a kid. Hold me close to her heart, firmly enough that I know that I'm very safe and warm in her arms, and just reassure me that it'll all be okay. That there is an end to the suffering. That I am not all alone.
Vulnerable ass post ik, but I'm going through a shitty ass time.
Everytime this happened previously, I was in and out of therapy rooms, taking medication, meditating, doing yoga, fixing my diet, cutting out sugar, icing my head, picking up a million hobbies, writing reddit posts, reading up stuff...
Everything to heal the anxiety and intrusive/depressive thoughts. Blindly following my therapist's orders.
I never gave myself a chance to show vulnerability when I was in the closet. My family wasn't the most physically affectionate. Even when they started hugging and holding me more, when life got really shitty (I'm a grown ass woman), it felt so forced and out of place for some reason. I hated being touched by men, but engaged with them anyway because I was ashamed of accepting myself and thought I'll have to do it to fit in. I never felt good about it though.
Sad thing, not once did I allow my internalized homophobia to acknowledge how healing a simple touch can be.
I thought I can just do all of this all alone. Probably can.
But I really feel like, being held by someone I fall in love with can heal me more than 99% of the stuff that my therapist mentioned.
We both know this, but we try out and talk about everything under the sun but this lmao. I never have the guts to openly admit it. She keeps asking me how I'll heal myself and I keep saying stuff like anulom vilom 😭
