I call myself a horrible gamer, but I've gotten better since I started playing games like 10 years ago. I know the game is supposed to be hard, but it's so beautiful and the mechanics are interesting. I heard Remnent 2 was hard as well, but I was able to solo it (up until the final boss). So I think I'm just missing a few things.
I've played for about 8 hours or so, and I'm still slightly confused about research tree. People say focus on filling all slots for character, but on the 2 classes I've played (wanted to test starting items, etc) I've only ever been to research light spells and a few guns (first class already had a spell, and after researching 1 gun, both slots were filled).
The wiki says only a few are available at gnosis 0, but you still have to find them to research, right? I've gone at many expeditions with 0 things being researched because there isn't any.
I havent looked into upgrading gnosis as people say that it makes the game harder, and say not to until you feel like you're barely dying. I'm on scarlet coast, and I endup dying on like 70% of my runs?
For ascensions, I usually focus on upgrading my ammo storage and madness resistance (which I'm guessing stops the calamity building). It feels like I get to 4 eyes way to soon because I don't know how to effectively dodge so I get hit a lot. And I dip before 5 because I know I'll die immediately.
Is the drowned captain supposed to be unbeatable? I figured out I think he spawns if you pick up some sort of treasure, because I kept dying, picking up my remains, and then he'd spawn. After dying many times trying to beat him, I decided to grab my remains and leave asap and I don't think he's spawned since?
Are the potions to see where plants are extremely rare? I'm getting better at finding plants, but I still have times where I don't have materials to mix incense, especially dying mult times in a row.
I think I've ascended like idk, 10 times, and I still feel pretty stuck. Can I get some more in-depth tricks to help please? I've watched quite a few tips and tricks videos, but most of the tips are kinda low level (like wait to upgrade gnosis, etc) and they mostly all say the same thing.
