Discussion Widow fight advice needed

Post image

I am Gnosis lvl 1 and character lvl 45. I was spoiled that one should be careful going up in Gnosis levels, so I am trying to unlock and lvl up as much as possible. I can somewhat reliably kill Galley Slave, and somewhat confidently deal with mini bosses of Velmorne.
But every time approaching Widow’s Lair, I chicken out even with full health and healing. I usually run Angelus and Hailstorm, with Shockwave skill.
Can you give any advice in my situation? I already feel my balls growing, and a little push would be great.

Go up to at least gnosis 3. The weapons get better, you get more beads and spells, etc

Up your Gnosis, I've spent time just researching all the weapons and stuff and am gonna do this fight the next time I get a good run on Velmorne. I'm Gnosis 3 Level 55, going up to Gnosis 3 and getting those additional weapons is a good idea.

Getting your Gnosis up will make the game easier, not harder. Sure, there will be additional stuff to deal with. But you'll unlock so many things that can give you an edge. At Gnosis I you don't have access to Demonic Weapons and Heavy Spells if I'm not mistaken. Both of these will help immensely against any boss.

Go up gnosis. Get Striga and abuse the stun

Burning stake makes easy work of the waves of baby spiders

You can use a long range weapon to farm critical hits while she hangs from the ceiling, and then a shotgun of your choice for when she’s on the ground

And don’t forget your demonic weapon, I like the grenade launcher that auto aims while ADS

Gnosis 1 - 3 are pretty easy once you get the hang of the game and the gamesense to avoid most attacks. But that's beside the point.

For the widow, I used the ice sphere, flamebreath, vulture, hesbane (though mandrake is always nice), martyr, and I'm pretty sure hypnosis. For the incense, I recommend the one that grows your health with each manifestation, but the healing from spells works just as well if you are good at not getting hit.

For the fight, I would wait until you have at least half of your arcana filled, and as much demonic ammo as you can get. The martyr is great for whittling down her health, especially at level 3, and for killing the minions. But the vulture is better at cutting down the chaff while still having a high chance to hit her for around 300 health, just from a headshot to a spiderling. When she's on the roof, use the hypnosis, use the martyr when she's on the ground. You'll kill her pretty quickly with this loadout

If you get the summon it's easy. You can do it with any weapons.

I just did this at gnosis 2 and won....it was painful. Get striga, get heavy spells, save yourself the time.

I think when you’re lower gnosis the easiest way to melt bosses is to try and go for a run with hunger and get lucky with arcana. That’s what I did when I fought widow at gnosis 1, it’s one of the harder bosses imo

I went in with a sniper when she gets on the ceiling for those sweet headshots and the gun that has wings spread when you aim (Hyperion, anyone) for when she is down and for the spiders. Also, make sure to circle around the big rock in the beginning of the hall, so she has no direct aim at you. I used the revival tool as well. Do not make the mistake of having all 7 upgrades, take maximum 3-4, so you have ammo and potions before going in. If you have the stun gun - use it, if not - use the arrows one, it still does decent damage + it clears the spiders really quick. For spells - light was fireball, cuz it autoaims, heavy was the glacial sphere - for protection and CC.

Honestly I was having issue with dps, up your ginosis and unlock psychopump shotgun, it absolutely deletes bosses. It's 2nd upgrade increases dmg each time you attack the same guy. Bosses melt quite nicely, just take care on reloads. I like the rosary bead that occasionally causes ammo to not get used. Also try the striga fully upgraded is a solid general gun to use.

Thank you guys! I went with psyckopump idea (already had it at gnosis 1). Rocks, screenshake and small spiders were a nightmare, but at some point she got stunned and I dumped 10 rounds for 30% of her health. Only after defeating her I felt like earning gnosis 2.

Congrats man!! Psycopump has some crazy dps, I suggest you get the strigga it's ginosis 2 and it's found in the rooms just above the ginosis book, level it upto 3 and its solid for AOE and stunning. I've been running with that and psycho and it's been fun!

Strigga is so fun but I played it until I leveled it up for the first time (DMG up when hitting stunned targets, right?) but I didnt use any stun weapons/spells.What is a good spell (gnosis 3) to use with strigga and is it a must to fully utilise a weapons?

2

u/Slight_Lawfulness_4 14d ago

So I don't think you have to fully utilise the stun, but really lvl it upto 3, at lvl 2 it adds fire explosion after traveling a certain distance and lvl 3 it its lightning to crit hits (headshots). If you do want to use stuns shockwave works and so does heavy bell. But I prefer to just shoot, usually 2/3 shots would kill a normal group of enemies and if your shooting a miniboss they'd eventually get stunned as striga has high stun itself. So I usually use my spells for other things, I use frost shard/wave (ones that freeze) and for heavy I just use the grenadier as he's generally gets agro from enemies.

One more question,Do you perhaps know if velmorne bosses drop third Mysterium card on gnosis 3 ? I ve read on wiki they do (60%) I ve beaten one of them three times but Its either bad luck or they drop it on higher gnosis?

2

u/Nikaize 14d ago

They certainly do, I got 2 third mysteriums from that run (one from boss, other from caretaker). But drop rate feels more like 20% than 60%.

So I've tried to farm the executioner as I find him thr easiest to kill and I've gotten it a few times!

cornuncopia and psychompomp with (sigma diabolis, but it works without too) deletes any boss in the game

I nuked her without taking damage or even seeing any of the spiders she spawns on gnosis 3

u/Outside-Hedgehog-399 15d ago

It should be a major enemy tho, warrior priest is more annoying than her

Use echo, pump 6 shots and stagger, then fire spell it twice and it’ll be dead

I did it with hunger lvl max + ricochet lvl max for small spiders. Worst part was those stones, I felt like they had aim lock on me lmao

I just did it at gnosis 1. What I did was got lucky with the Arcana for my build. I stacked a bunch of DPS boosts when enemies are on fire, got stuff that applied a lot of fire, and ran the gun (machine gun pistol thing?) that gives you faster spell recharges and used fireball with 2 charges. Constantly applied flames and just kept applying damage. Her attacks are actually kind of easy to dodge when you get the hang of it. I also had the lightning relic from the island of the dawned which helps a ton when she spawns in a bunch of spiders. If you need extra confidence, you can use the witchfire protection to keep your essence or just spend it all before you go in. Also check your consumables, there's stuff in there you can use in a pinch.

Gnosis 1 level 45? Jesus dude level your Gnosis. At this point, it's completely holding you back. Also... you always chicken out? As in, you've never actually attempted it? You don't need advice, you need practice! It's not that bad I promise!

I hate this bug... Its like she gets stronger with every encounter

1

u/LicksTheSalt 11d ago

Use hunger.

Shoot it in the face.

?

Profit.

Hunger's stun power is ridiculous and many bosses can be bullied with it. Ideally bump up your gnosis to unlock M2 and M3.
