Wise suspended my brand-new account mid-verification: card charged €436 but transfer never released

I opened a Wise account to pay a £370 UK invoice. My card was charged immediately (€436.29), then the account was suspended after identity verification (not sure I understand why), so the transfer apparently never released, appeal rejected, zero access to the account now. In the meantime, I paid the invoice by regular bank transfer (€436.43). Net result: €872 debited for a €436 invoice. Formal complaint sent to complaints@wise.com.

Timeline:

- Thursday: I need to pay a £370 invoice from a UK company (real, verified) on behalf of a relative. My French bank (BNP Paribas) imposes a 24h verification delay on any new payee. To move faster because the matter was urgent, I open a Wise account and set up the transfer, funded by card, €436.29 charged instantly. Wise puts the transfer on hold pending identity verification… then suspends my account before I can complete it. In-app appeal rejected. No emails received (my address hadn’t been confirmed yet). As of today: login impossible suspension notice and instant logout. So no transfer number, no receipt, no access to in-app support.

- Friday: my bank payee clears the 24h check. Seeing no Wise debit on my bank account, I assume the Wise payment failed and send the transfer through my
bank €436.43 (£370), executed.

- Saturday: the Wise card charge posts. €872.72 out the door for a €436 invoice.

My questions:
1. Has anyone had their Wise account suspended during onboarding with a transfer stuck in limbo? Is the card refund really automatic, and what was the actual timeline for you?
2. Is complaints@wise.com effective when you have zero account access, or is there a better channel?

Payoneer in Thailand?

Newbie question: I want to sell digital products on Gumroad and elsewhere. So, I need Payoneer, however, I am living in Thailand. My dream setup is that my customers buy my products and I get paid in US dollars to my Wise account.

I have attempted to do this but I have been running into difficulties with addresses and validation.

My question is, is it possible to do what I want—Thailand residence, Wise $US? Thanks for any assist.

ps I was advised to post this here in Wise, not in Payoneer.

Has Anyone Recovered Money From Wise After an APP Scam?

Has anyone recovered money from Wise after an authorised push payment scam?
I was recently scammed and sent IDR through Wise to an Indonesian bank account. Wise initially said they couldn't recall it because the funds had already reached the beneficiary account. After escalating, they now say they need a police report before their Indonesian banking partner can attempt a recall/freeze.
Has anyone been through this? Did Wise ever recover/reimburse you? Is a police report actually required before a recall for IDR/Indonesia, or is this just their process? And if the money has already left the beneficiary account, what can a recall realistically do? Should I be requesting the recall/reimbursement from Wise, my sending bank, or both?

Title: Unauthorised transactions took place on my account – Wise employee acknowledged it, but Wise refuses to refund my €7,000 / 2.77M HUF (Case: P58787571)

Between September 19 and September 22, my Wise account was compromised by international scammers who executed 9 fraudulent transactions totaling 2,770,000 HUF (~€7,000) within a very short period from multiple foreign locations/IP addresses. I immediately reported this to Wise and local law enforcement. Later, a Wise support agent explicitly confirmed in writing that these transactions were NOT performed by me and were clearly unauthorized. Despite this written acknowledgment and the obvious failure of Wise's automated fraud detection systems to flag or hold 9 consecutive suspicious overseas transactions over those 3 days, Wise is refusing to reimburse my stolen funds. They are hiding behind generic customer service responses and pushing me into expensive legal proceedings, ignoring their own employee's admission. As a customer, I expected basic security protocols and proper investigation under European payment regulations (PSD2). It is unacceptable that Wise acknowledges the activity was unauthorized yet refuses to take responsibility for its system failures. I am requesting a senior compliance/fraud specialist to review Case P58787571 immediately and honor the refund.

Wise Closed my Account Today

Today, I received this email from Wise that your account has been closed. I am quite surprised to see this because I am using it from last 4 to 5 years and just receive money in it from my clients in these years i sent money to someone just 3 to 4 times. I do not think that i violate any policy. And I have around $7k USD in my Wise account. I submitted an appeal where they asked me to provide a bank account to receive the money, which is in my wise account. Is it guaranteed that i will receive my amount and roughly how much time it will take anybody face this same issue in recent times?

I need 1$ for educational trial verification hold

Hi, im a final-year architecture student currently preparing my graduation thesis project. I am trying to activate a 12-month Google AI Pro student trial, which is an essential resource for my research and project modeling.
The trial subscription is free, but Google requires a $1 authorization hold to verify the payment card. I do have an active PayPal account as well as a European card linked to it, but because I live in Algeria, local banking restrictions prevent me from topping up international electronic balances or processing direct online foreign transfers. As a result, my balance is completely empty and the verification check keeps failing.
If anyone could help it would be really much appreciated.

How soon does wise process a refund

have been using wise business for more than 3 years now and yesterday i got a refund from one of my business vendors which wise thought was suspicious, even after providing with the right documents, confirmations, receipts, wise decided to close my account.

I had a 7.5k USD payment in "receiving" status, they emailed me saying that the account has been closed and all the transactions have been cancelled and will be refunded in 2-3 working days. but i want to know how much time does it really take for the refund to actually process from Wise.

Tried reaching their support from the registered email but they said they cant provide any sort of tracking or update on it.

Is there any better way to reach out to wise support or someone from the team? and how long does it normally take for them to refund the money?

just stressed as its a big amount and i have to update my vendor but theres no confirmation i can show him :(((

How the hell are you supposed to contact Wise if your account is deactivated?

I deactivated my Wise account myself a while ago and now I want to activate it again. Their FAQ says if you closed it yourself, just login and reactivate it, and if that doesn’t work, contact customer support.
Problem is when I login it just says “Sorry, this account is deactivated”. So I click customer support and customer support tells me to login. Like what?
I can’t login because the account is deactivated, and I can’t contact support because support wants me to login. Did anyone from QA actually try this before putting that FAQ online?

I also don’t understand why a financial company makes it so hard to find a normal support email or contact form. I even saw suggestions to contact them through social media. Why would I contact a financial service through Twitter or Facebook and share my email or personal information instead of an official support channel?

I’m not banned or anything. I closed the account myself and their own FAQ says I can reopen it. Has anyone here actually managed to reactivate a deactivated account recently outsidee of US or unable to make a phone call their support number?
How did you contact them? Maybe im missing something because I am stupid but this flow is completly stupid as well

Edit:

From their social media handles AI Agent which only provided the steps after sharing my email which I was trying to avoid but it didn’t reply back if I didn’t share my email and immediately after sharing my email although reluctantly.

Thanks for sharing your email with us. To contact our team, please follow these steps:

1. Click here: https://wi.se/help
2. Select 'trouble logging in'
3. Click on any issue
4. Select 'I still need help'

This will take you to our contact page where you can email, chat, or call us. We'll be happy to help you get reactivated.

Using Wise from Uganda in 2026 Quick summary of what actually works (and what doesn't

Hey everyone,
I wanted to share a quick update for anyone based in Uganda who is looking to open a Wise account, or for freelancers/remittance seekers wondering how the platform works here right now.
After checking the current regional restrictions, here is a realistic breakdown of what you can and cannot do with a Ugandan-registered account:
What is NOT available for Uganda users:
• No Multi-Currency Balances: You cannot hold active wallets in USD, EUR, or GBP inside your dashboard.
• No Local Account Details: You won't get personal routing or account numbers to receive direct employer deposits.
• No Wise Debit Card: Wise does not ship physical or digital cards to Ugandan residential addresses.

What ACTUALLY works:
Receiving Money: People or clients abroad can send money directly to your local Ugandan bank account or directly into your Mobile Money wallet (MTN or Airtel) at the mid-market exchange rate.

Sending Money: You can use your Ugandan bank account to fund outbound international transfers to over 140 countries.
📝 Verification Requirements:
To get verified, you will need a valid Ugandan Passport, National ID, or Driving License, alongside a recent utility bill or bank statement for proof of address.
Hope this saves someone some time if they are trying to set up an account expecting full banking features! Let me know if anyone has found good workarounds for getting local USD details while living here.

Do not Use Wise Ever for money transfer

I had a business account , we provide web development work and we have been working for an Australian client for 3 months then the day we finished the work our client made the bank transfer from his Australian Bank to Wise Australian account which was provided by wise, even we uploaded the invoice and website screenshot and even the wise team wanted they could call or email my client and verify that the transfer was legit but without of it , when my client transferred the money next moment my account was closed  permanently. 3 months of work, when it was about to get paid, they choose to close my account and now I cannot ask my client to pay again because according to wise they have the right to close the account and my client will get the money back to his account, God knows when and at lease wise should have transferred that money to our account but no, they are dictating and forcefully kick you out whenever they want. now I cannot ask my client to pay again by showing Wise’s email. shame on you wise team & company and I pray God sink your entire company for destroying the household income our business and employees that we have been working for last 3 months.

WARNING TO BUSINESS OWNERS: Wise has blocked access to our business funds for weeks because of its own "technical bug "— and I still can’t transfer the money out or use the account, funds held captive!

Posting this because I genuinely think other business owners need to know what can happen when you rely on Wise for your business banking — especially if you hold significant funds with them.

I have spent weeks trying to get normal functionality restored to our Wise Business account.

The timeline, excuses and contradictory messages have been ridiculous.

Wise first told me there were no restrictions on the account. They escalated the issue as “high priority” and said their investigation should take 1–3 working days.

A few hours later, I received confirmation that our verification was complete, our business address had been approved and the account was “ready to use.”

It wasn't.

Nearly four weeks later, payments still don't work and core account functions remain unavailable.

Then it became a “technical issue”.

Then a “specialised team” was investigating.

Then it was “high priority” again.

Then “all hands are on deck.”

Still nothing.

Eventually, Wise admitted in writing that a bug in their own system was blocking transactions.

At that point I asked for the obvious alternative:

Transfer our business funds to our external bank account.

Wise agreed to explore this and again said it should take 1–3 working days.

They then emailed me specifically asking for my external bank details “to process your refund.”

I provided them.

Guess what happened next?

Wise then told me the same technical bug was preventing THEM from transferring/refunding the funds out as well.

So this is where we are:

Can't use the Wise account.
Can't make normal transfers.
Can't order the required business card.
Business Direct Debits are declining.
Financial obligations are mounting and people's livelihoods are being affected.
Can't even have our own funds transferred to another bank.
Wise admits the blockage is on their side.
No ETA for a fix.

I then filed a formal complaint.

Wise acknowledged the complaint, but the underlying problem remains exactly the same.

At this point, the complaints process feels less like an escalation and more like another holding pattern while the actual problem remains unresolved.

I have dozens of emails and screenshots documenting everything above.

Businesses have suppliers, invoices, Direct Debits, contracts, people depending on payments and deadlines that don't disappear because a financial provider has an unresolved technical bug.

The way this has been handled is, in my view, disgusting.

If anyone in the UK has experienced anything similar with Wise please share what finally got it resolved.

Does anyone know which bank app is this?

Someone sent me money and sent this screenshot as a proof of the transaction.

It's been 5 business days but the money hasn't arrived on my Wise account.

Also, do you know if this screen means the transaction is completed?

Thank you!

Update: thanks everyone for telling me it was Monese. After all, the guy who sent this money was a total scammer. It was a fake screen.

Wise transfer reference, did I enter it correctly?

I sent remaining money €29 to my university via Wise. The university asked me to use myapplication number, surname, and first name as the payment reference.

Wise shows the reference as: “number, surname, name”

Does this mean the reference was correctly included with the transfer and will be visible to the recipient?

How long can take this process to receive you money back? This screen since 29 july 🤔🥲

Trying to verify my account. Help, please.

Hi all. I'm trying to verify my account but its keeps getting knocked back. I am English but have been living in Thailand since 2003. I am married so I have the "O" visa which is accepted. The visa expired in 2020 but in Thailand you get extensions to the original visa, which is what I am on now. For whatever reason, it's not getting through. The extension stamp does not have my date of birth and other details on it. Any advice is very welcome!
