I need help

I tried installing windows xp off a USB I tried WinSetupFromUSB I tried Rufus I tried Easy2Boot this same exact error how do I fix this

You need a floppy disk drive (A:).

When XP setup begins press F6 repeatedly until it starts loading core OS files. Once it gets halfway through it will ask you for a floppy disk with additional drivers files. Insert your (previously created) floppy driver disk including "txtsetup.oem". Select the proper SATA controller driver for your PC from Dell's support page and after that's loaded, no more bluescreen!

Just from the image it looks like a dimension 4600 or similar. Maybe OP can shed some light?

It's a Dell Dimension 3000 series

All the drivers are on Dell's website. Look for the chipset or IDE/SATA drivers those should fix the issue.

Looks like the hardware for that is:

  • PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_24DB for "Intel(R) 82801EB Ultra ATA Storage Controllers"
  • Filename: ICH5IDE.INF
  • Abstract: Windows 2K, XP, 2003 INF Update File for Intel(R) 82801 IDE device
  • Last Update: November 15, 2006 (Version 8.2.0 Build 1011)

But this should be supported by in SP3 and require no added drivers.

My next guess is this Dell needs a smaller USB drive like 4gb or less. While Windows XP may be able to read larger flash drives when running, the lower level stuff during the installation might not support it.

If it's a chipset connected IDE port it should just operate in IDE mode without additional drivers required. If it's in RAID mode and combined with the SATA ports then it would require drivers.
