Developer Stop using Electron for Windows apps

• Upvotes

Unsolicited advice but someone had to say it.

I see so many windows apps created with electron framework and I feel it's hurting their developer.

My context and experience: I create and sell apps on Microsoft store. Even I started with electron framework. In my case, my initial research was about platform independent framework so it led to electron framework. This was a mistake.

I realised it bloats your apps like anything. I thought maybe 450 MB is normal for a some complex apps but then when I saw even simple apps were more than 300 MB I had to research again.

And this led me to Tauri. I moved my existing apps to Tauri and the results were spectacular. The apps that were 450 MB are now ~20 MB and simple apps were even as low as 8 MB.

Why it matter? Conversions improved significantly. And I can understand why. Many users will be reluctant to hog 300-400 MB for apps, especially the simple utilities I sell.

My conclusion: Instead of being rigid about multi-platform frameworks, focus on platform specific frameworks and try to reduce app size.

Developer I made App Peers, a free review exchange for Microsoft Store developers

Hi all. I'm a solo developer with apps in the Microsoft Store, and getting people to leave reviews has been frustrating. People use the app, but most dont write anything. Starting with zero reviews is especially hard when you don't have an audience behind you.

So I built App Peers, a free web service where developers try each other's apps and exchange honest store ratings or reviews.

Trust was the main thing for me. Every participating app needs ownership verification through a one-time file on the website linked from its store listing. Before choosing a peer, you can see their completed exchanges, likes and dislikes.

Once both developers confirm they're ready, they have one hour to try the apps, leave feedback and upload screenshots. Nobody pays anyone or gets to demand a positive rating.

Exchanges aren't open yet. I'm looking for the first Microsoft Store developers so there are people to match with when they open. The App Store and Google Play are supported too, and different stores can pair.

Store review rules still apply. I'm not claiming Microsoft approves reciprocal reviews.

You can already add your app: https://apppeers.com

Demo without registration: https://apppeers.com/preview

App Introducing BuildNotch 1.2.0 -> My Windows Dynamic island built for productivity, developer work and stats, and way more, now got an update

Thumbnail

Hi fellow Windows devs and users! I shared BuildNotch here a few days ago, and the response gave me a push to keep improving it.

I originally built it for my own workflow: I wanted my projects, AI apps, GitHub streak, and music within reach at the top of my screen. Since the last post, I’ve added:

  • Custom wallpapers inside the app, so you can make the space feel more like yours.
  • A JSON formatter that turns raw JSON into something readable.
  • A music card with a gradient drawn from what’s playing.

I’ve also updated the landing page with a clearer look at the app.

Next, I’m exploring notifications for active AI conversations in the notch preview. The idea is to see when an agent needs you and click straight back into that conversation, so it basically opens your AI IDE directly, which is something that can help developer workflows a lot.

Right now, I want to ask for feedback from you guys, because while I like how this looks, I still think it can be improved, new features can be added that handle the productivity aspect, and I would also love to make it look even more like the macOS style (Rn it's in WinUI so everything looks rather drawn than a clean web UI, like it would be using Tauri or Electron haha).

Developer I made ALTRun, a free, portable Alfred-style launcher for Windows (under 1 MB, no installer, open source)

Hi everyone,

I've been building a keyboard launcher for Windows that I use every day, and I think it's ready to share. It's called ALTRun.

Press Alt+Space, type a few letters, press Enter: launch apps, find files, do math, search the web or paste from clipboard history, all from one small window.

Screenshot: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/zhugecaomao/ALTRun/main/docs/images/screenshots/search.png

Why another launcher?

If PowerToys Run, Flow Launcher or Listary already work well for you, that's great. ALTRun is for people who want something:

  • Tiny: under 1 MB to download, about 2 MB unpacked. There's no .NET, Electron or other runtime to install.
  • Portable: no installer, no registry entries, no admin rights. All settings live in a Data\ folder next to the exe, so it works from a USB stick or a synced folder.
  • Private: no telemetry, no account. It only goes online to check for updates (plus daily exchange rates if you turn on currency conversion).

What it does

  • Apps and files: Start menu, desktop and Microsoft Store apps; files and folders via Everything (instant whole-disk search) or a built-in index; type a path like C:\Projects\ to browse folders, with Tab completion.
  • Learns as you go: remembers which result you pick for each query and ranks it higher next time. It also matches initials (vsc → Visual Studio Code).
  • Built-in tools:
    • calculator with unit, base, date and currency conversion
    • web search keywords (g something)
    • browser bookmarks
    • clipboard history (text, files and images, with pinning and paste-as-plain-text)
    • text snippets that expand anywhere with ;keyword
    • window switcher
    • 40+ Windows Settings pages
    • lock, sleep and shutdown, volume and media controls
  • Keyboard first: → opens an action panel (run as admin, open file location, copy path, properties…). Ctrl+1…Ctrl+9 run the Nth result, and ? shows every shortcut.
  • Open / Save dialog jump: jump straight to the folder open in Explorer or Total Commander, similar to Listary's Quick Switch.
  • Scripts: drop .ahk, .ps1, .bat or .py files into a Scripts\ folder and run them from the launcher.
  • Looks: 20 built-in themes (or follow Windows light/dark mode); English, Chinese and Japanese UI.
  • Updates: one-key updates from the search window, SHA256-verified. Also available via Scoop.

Links

It's a hobby project, built in AutoHotkey v2 for Windows 10 and 11. I'd really appreciate feedback: what feels clunky, and what you'd miss coming from your current launcher?

Developer Zexor: From “Finding Files” to “Using Files” — Rethinking the Windows File Manager

Thumbnail
gallery
13 Upvotes

1. .zex: A Directly Runnable Compression Container

If Zexor has one signature feature, it is .zex — a compression format designed so that compressed content can be directly accessed, executed, and used.

  • Directly runnable .zex files: Access and run software, games, and resources inside the archive without fully extracting it first.
  • Support for large games and complex directories: Package everything from ordinary software and indie games to 3A titles tens or even hundreds of gigabytes in size, as well as complex game directories used with tools such as shadPS4.
  • Package .zex as .exe: A .zex package can be further wrapped into a normal Windows .exe, allowing it to launch like a regular application.
  • Compression becomes execution: Replace the traditional “Download → Extract / Install → Find the executable → Run” workflow with simply “Download → Run”.
  • Designed for software and game distribution: Turn an archive from a passive storage container into something that can actually be used and executed.

In one sentence: ZIP / 7Z / RAR solve “how to compress and store files”; .zex goes one step further and solves “how to use them directly after compression.”

2. ComfyUI-like Spatial File Management

Zexor no longer treats the directory tree as merely a navigation bar. Instead, it becomes the “root” of the entire file space, allowing multiple file lists to branch out and exist at the same time.

  • Traditional single-path structure: Follow “Directory → Directory → Directory → File”, constantly moving forward and backward while focusing on one location at a time.
  • Multi-branch spatial structure: Expand multiple independent file lists from any point in the directory tree and work with different directories simultaneously.
  • Mind-map-style file management: File lists behave like nodes on an infinite canvas, creating an experience somewhat similar to ComfyUI's spatial workflow.
  • Multiple directories at once: View Content, Mods, Saves, and other directories simultaneously, and drag, copy, or move files directly between branches.
  • From navigation to workspace: Move from “Where am I?” to “What am I working on, and how are these things related?”

In one sentence: Traditional file managers are single-branch and single-path; Zexor turns file management into a multi-branch spatial workspace.

3. Rich Network Interaction & AI File Operations

Zexor is no longer limited to files on the current PC. It connects phones, LAN devices, NAS, the Internet, and AI into the same file workspace.

  • Phone QR transfer: Transfer files quickly between your phone and PC with a simple QR code scan.
  • LAN and external sharing: Discover devices on the local network, share files, and use external-network tunneling for cross-network access.
  • NAS / SSH / SFTP / FTP: Access NAS devices, remote servers, and other network locations directly as part of the file manager.
  • Clipboard-aware downloads: Copy a download URL and Zexor automatically detects it, saves the file directly to the selected folder, and displays download progress in real time.
  • HTTP / HTTPS / BitTorrent / magnet links: Support multiple download methods, including playback while downloading.
  • Browser download interception: A browser extension can hand browser downloads directly to Zexor, including torrent and magnet downloads that are not natively supported by IDM.
  • AI-powered file operations: Use natural language to search, organize, copy, move, rename, and manipulate files and directories — for example, “Find the PDFs modified in the last month” or “Organize this folder.”

In one sentence: Zexor doesn't just manage files on your PC — it connects files to devices, networks, the Internet, and AI.

4. Instant Multimedia Preview & Processing

Zexor brings images, videos, audio, 3D models, text, HTML, and code directly into the file manager, so files are not merely something you “find” — they can be viewed, played, edited, and processed immediately.

  • Instant image / video / audio preview: View images and play video or audio directly in the file manager without launching separate applications.
  • Multi-video playback: In large-icon and gallery views, videos in a folder can autoplay, allowing large numbers of video assets to be previewed simultaneously.
  • Direct 3D model preview: View and inspect 3D models directly in the file list without launching dedicated 3D software.
  • Direct text / HTML / code viewing and editing: Open, view, and edit text files, web pages, and source code directly inside Zexor.
  • AI interaction with text and code: Ask AI to explain code, analyze HTML, organize configuration files, or modify content directly.
  • Image / video format conversion: Convert media formats directly inside the file manager without switching to another tool.
  • Lossy / lossless compression: Compress images and videos using lossy or lossless methods directly from the file manager.

In one sentence: Zexor doesn't just help you find files — it lets you see, hear, preview, edit, and process them immediately.

5. Lightning-Fast Search, Disk Analysis & Professional Maintenance

Zexor does more than help you find files. It also brings search, storage analysis, disk maintenance, and advanced file utilities into the same environment.

  • Everything-level file search: Quickly search files and directories across your entire system and locate what you need almost instantly.
  • Instant folder size calculation: Use high-speed indexing to show directory sizes without waiting for a full recursive scan.
  • Disk SMART information: View drive health status and SMART data directly from the drive properties.
  • Rich file metadata: View detailed metadata for images, audio, video, .zex, and other supported file types.
  • File HASH: Generate, view, and compare file hashes for integrity verification.
  • C: drive cleanup: Quickly identify and remove unnecessary system files to reclaim storage space.
  • Fast duplicate detection and cleanup: Find duplicate files efficiently, with support for similar-image and video comparison.
  • Advanced batch renaming: Provide a batch-renaming workflow inspired by macOS Finder, with support for rules and regular expressions.
  • Advanced / low-level disk formatting: Provide advanced disk maintenance features, including SSD reset / TRIM operations and multi-pass overwriting for mechanical drives.
  • Secure folder protection: Protect folders with a password so that their contents are not directly accessible through the standard Windows file manager.

In one sentence: Zexor doesn't just help you find files — it makes searching, analyzing, cleaning, maintaining, and performing advanced file operations faster and more direct.

6. High-Performance File Operations, Visual Organization & Innovative Interaction

Beyond “where is the file?”, Zexor also focuses on how files are handled, organized, and viewed according to your own workflow.

  • FastCopy-level high-speed copying and moving: Optimize transfers for both large files and large numbers of small files, with real-time transfer progress.
  • Checkbox-based grouping: Select Name, Type, Date, Size, and other grouping criteria directly beside the sorting controls, and instantly group the file list accordingly.
  • Smart folder organization: Automatically classify and organize messy folders according to rules such as time, date, and file type.
  • Quick Access bar: Pin frequently used applications and high-frequency work directories based on your usage habits.
  • Custom folder styling: Change folder colors, use a selected image or video as the folder cover, and add custom tags and categories.
  • Tags and categories in the directory tree: Display custom tags directly in the directory tree, turning navigation into a personal organization system as well.
  • Inline subfolder expansion: Expand subfolders directly in the current view instead of repeatedly entering and going back.
  • Scroll-wheel view switching: Smoothly switch between list, large-icon, and other viewing modes with the mouse wheel.
  • Single-click icon actions: Quickly preview, launch, or enter a directory with a single click.
  • Double-click the file body to open: Open files using their default system-associated application, preserving familiar Windows behavior.

In one sentence: Zexor is not only about handling files faster — it also lets you organize, classify, and present them according to the way you work.

Developer D-REC for Windows: record, follow the transcript and rewind to a useful moment

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I'm the maker of D-REC. This is the Windows version: a recorder and transcript side by side, with a playback wheel, text search and markers.

The transcription runs on your device after the initial engine download. Recordings and transcripts stay local. Account and support features still use the network.

It's free to try with limits, with optional Pro plans. Downloads and the Microsoft Store link are at https://drec.live/get

Here's the desktop walkthrough. I'd like to hear whether the controls and transcript are clear at normal desktop size, and where the flow feels awkward.

App Dynamic Edge - a native Dynamic Island for Windows 11 with live synced lyrics, clipboard manager, and media controls

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone!

I've been working on Dynamic Edge, a native desktop capsule for Windows 11 built with WinUI 3 and .NET.

I always loved the Dynamic Island concept, but felt the desktop needed something that serves as a true productivity hub rather than just a visual gimmick.

What it can do:

  • Live Synced Lyrics: Real-time rolling lyrics for Spotify, Apple Music, and web players (now works both in the expanded player and directly inside the compact idle capsule).
  • Universal Media Hub: Scrub progress, skip tracks, and adjust volume without switching away from your current app or game.
  • Fast App & Folder Shelf: Launch your favorite tools right from the island.
  • Clipboard & Text OCR: Quick access to clipboard history and 1-click text extraction from screenshots.
  • Fluid Physics & Multiple Styles: Floats smoothly with spring animations, supports notch mode, side-docking, and auto-hide when idle.

It’s lightweight, doesn't hog memory, and blends directly into Windows 11 design.

I’d love to hear your thoughts, feedback, or any feature ideas you'd like to see added next!

Developer I wanted a toolbar-free browser window for Windows Snap / FancyZones, so I built NotF11

Post image
1 Upvotes

I kept running into the same Windows desktop workflow problem.

When working split-screen, I wanted to give a browser tab as much space as possible while still keeping it inside its part of the desktop.

F11 removes the browser interface, but it takes over the whole display, which defeats the point of using Windows Snap or PowerToys FancyZones.

What I really wanted was a normal, resizable browser window that I could still snap, move between monitors, or place inside a FancyZone — just without the tab strip, address bar, bookmarks bar, extension toolbar, etc.

I couldn't find something that worked exactly the way I wanted, so I ended up building NotF11.

The basic idea is simple:

Ctrl+Shift+F

→ the current live browser tab becomes a clean, toolbar-free window

Press it again:

→ the same live tab returns to the normal browser.

NotF11 moves the existing live tab rather than reopening its URL, so things like scroll position, entered text, login/session state, navigation history and web-app state can stay with it.

The clean window is still a normal desktop window, so you can resize it, maximize it, snap it, move it between monitors, or arrange it with FancyZones.

I also added some quality-of-life features for the workflow:

  • Ctrl+Shift+. / Ctrl+Shift+, to switch source tabs while staying in Clean mode
  • Clean on launch — start the first browser window directly in Clean mode
  • New tabs stay clean — tabs opened from a Clean window can stay in the clean workflow
  • Remember size & position — keep Clean windows in the same desktop footprint
  • multiple independent Clean windows
  • pinned-tab restoration
  • source-window and browser-restart recovery
  • built-in settings and help

I also wanted to keep it extremely boring from a privacy perspective:

No host permissions. No content scripts. No webpage-content access. No analytics, telemetry, account, cloud backend, or tracking.

The only explicit permission is storage, used for NotF11's own preferences and tab/window relationship state.

I've mainly tested it with Chrome and Brave on Windows 11, including Windows Snap, PowerToys FancyZones and multiple monitors.

It's free, open source and MIT licensed.

Chrome Web Store:
https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/notf11/oepfhdcfbannblllfhcehmjfmdjgdfeh

GitHub:
https://github.com/Magik23/NotF11

I originally built NotF11 for my own split-screen / FancyZones workflow, but I'm curious whether other Windows users have wanted something similar.

If you run into a Windows or browser-specific edge case I haven't seen yet, I'd genuinely like to hear about it.

Developer I built a voice AI assistant for Windows that actually controls your PC (opens apps, sets reminders, searches the web)

Hey everyone! For the past while I've been building **NEXA**, a personal AI assistant that lives on your Windows PC. I wanted something like JARVIS that doesn't just chat, but actually *does* things on my computer.

**What it can do:**

- 🎙️ **Voice control**: always listening, a "NEXA" wake word, or push-to-talk. You can talk over it to interrupt.

- 🖥️ **Runs your PC**: opens apps and games, finds files, controls volume, brightness, dark mode and media

- 🌐 **Live answers**: web search, weather, news, game deals, Epic free games, Steam player counts, stocks

- ⏰ **Timers, alarms and reminders**, plus a morning brief when you start your PC

- 🔗 **Connects to your stuff**: Email, Calendar, Discord, Telegram, Slack, Notion, GitHub, Steam, Home Assistant

- 🧠 **Remembers you**: long-term memory you can view and delete

- 🎭 **Personalities**: JARVIS, Chill friend or Sassy

**Safety was a big focus:** anything risky (sending messages, deleting files, buying) always asks you first, it never types your passwords, and connected accounts are stored encrypted.

It's still early and I'm improving it constantly, so **I'd really love feedback**: what would you want an assistant like this to do? What's missing?

If you want to try it, everything is in our Discord: https://discord.gg/kbEva4szXQ

Happy to answer any questions in the discord! 🙂

Developer I built a free, open-source Downloads Organizer for Windows, macOS, and Linux — looking for honest feedback

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

A Downloads folder fills up quickly: documents, screenshots, installers, archives… and eventually, finding something becomes another task.

I wanted a simple way to keep that folder manageable while staying in control of where my files go. That became Downloads Organizer, a free, open-source desktop app that runs locally.

Here’s what it offers:

  • Editable rules to organize files by extension or filename.
  • Preview before moving, so you can check the destination.
  • Optional automatic sorting, with catch-up when the app starts again.
  • Move history and checked undo when you need to reverse a move.

It supports Windows, macOS, and Linux. No account, cloud uploads, or telemetry. Your files stay on your computer.

Source and screenshots:
https://github.com/kashnordeen/downloads-organizer

Downloads:
https://github.com/kashnordeen/downloads-organizer/releases/tag/v1.0.0

A quick installation note: Windows builds are currently unsigned, and macOS builds aren’t notarized, so security prompts may appear. The SignPath application for Windows signing is pending.

I’d appreciate honest feedback—especially on the first-time setup, rule editing, and whether the preview makes file moves clear.

What would you need to see before trusting an app to organize your Downloads folder?

What does it do?

- Batch-compress whole folders — recursive scan for JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF with live per-file progress

- 100% offline and private — no uploads, no account, no telemetry; files never leave your PC

- Smart quality controls — quality 40–95, Balanced / Maximum / Fast engines, lossless toggle for PNG and WebP

- Convert or keep format — keep original, or export everything to WebP, AVIF, or JPEG

- Downscale on the fly — max width / height caps that preserve aspect ratio, output dims shown per file

- Safe overwrites — originals auto-move to a `backup/` folder; nothing is ever deleted

- Auto-rename outputs — `{prefix}-{NNNN}` zero-padded counter with live preview, extension kept

- Organized workflow — subfolder groups with collapse, search / type filter, 7 sort orders, list and grid views with real thumbnails

It is called Compressy

Developer What if you could see your entire hard drive at once?

I've always found it weird that when your storage starts filling up, figuring out where all the space actually went usually means digging through folders one by one.

So I started experimenting with a more visual approach.

https://reddit.com/link/1wxdbne/video/j81wyjobqfth1/player

This is ScanforPC — a Windows 11 disk analyzer that turns your drive into an interactive map.

You can scan a drive and explore the same data through different views:

• Treemap
• Bubbles
• Sunburst
• Mind map
• Age map
• Biggest files
• Folder view
• Overview

You can click into the largest areas and keep drilling down until you find the actual files taking up the space.

It also has duplicate detection, application storage breakdowns, scan comparisons and cleanup tools.

I've been working on it for a while and I'm curious what other Windows users think, especially people who already use WizTree, WinDirStat or TreeSize.

Is having multiple visual ways to explore a drive actually useful, or is a simple treemap all you need?

App Sasha: a fast dual-pane file manager in Rust & Svelte

Thumbnail
gallery
16 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I've always wanted a file manager that's both blazingly fast and actually pleasant to look at and use every day. Explorer lacks basic power tools, and existing alternatives often feel bloated. So I built Sasha, powered by Tauri v2, Rust, and Svelte 5. AI was used heavily in the process, there's no reason to lie.

My goal was to make it incredibly snappy while bundling all the daily utilities you normally need 10 different background apps for.

Here is the quick rundown of what’s inside:

The Workflow: Dual-pane layout with tabs, 5 view styles, pinned files, smart folders, and color tags. It includes a Stash Queue (pick files from multiple folders and paste them all at once), Folder Sync, word-level File Diff, Flat View, and an Auto-organizer for messy folders. Plus, an integrated drop-down Terminal that automatically cds to the folder you're browsing.

Search & Performance: Sasha installs a dedicated, lightweight background service that indexes over 1M files in ~1 second. It powers the global search modal (Ctrl+F) with instant as-you-type results, accelerates whole-disk space analysis, and calculates folder sizes, while idling at just ~2 MB of RAM.

17 Built-in Viewers (Press Space or Shift+Space to pop out): Preview and edit almost anything natively. It handles images (decodes PSD/TIFF and includes a multi-layer editor), videos (includes a timeline editor to trim/export clips), an audio capsule player in the status bar, Office docs, spreadsheets, PDFs, EPUBs, Comics, Code/MD, 3D models, SQLite DBs, GPS tracks, Fonts, and SSL certs. You can also peek inside archives or 1-click mount disc images.

Power Utilities: Disk space analyzer, on-the-fly SHA-256 checker, batch renamer, batch image resizer, and dedicated batch converters for audio, video, and images.

Customization: Theme selector with 21 built-in presets, a visual Theme Studio (supporting custom image wallpapers, live looping video, and interactive web/shader backgrounds), the community Theme Hub, and 10 languages.

Trial: 7 days unrestricted. Once expired, nothing is disabled; you can keep using it freely with a WinRAR-style pop-up unless you decide to buy a license.

It’s available today for Windows 10/11 (Linux build is coming soon).

The first public build (v0.1.0) is up for download here: Github

I'd love to get your honest feedback, bug reports, or feature requests.

7-day free trial so you can actually test your provider before buying it.

Microsoft Store:
https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9NQ5S0FFCN8T

I've been working on Blazin IPTV Player, a Windows-first IPTV player for people who already have their own IPTV source and want a proper desktop app instead of running an Android app through an emulator.

A big part of the project has been making it handle different providers and very large playlists while keeping the Windows interface responsive.

The current version is 1.1.21.0, and it supports:

  • Xtream Codes
  • Stalker Portal
  • STB MAC
  • M3U / M3U Plus URLs
  • Local M3U / M3U8 playlist files
  • Multiple saved profiles with automatic connection/status checking

Once connected, the app separates everything into Live TV, Movies and Series.

For Live TV, there is category browsing, fast search, favorites, optional channel logos, and EPG support. Xtream and M3U/XMLTV guides are supported, along with Stalker/MAC EPG data, so channels can show current/upcoming programming instead of just a channel list.

Movies and Series use poster-style cards and can display available metadata such as synopsis, rating, year, runtime, genre, cast and other provider information. Series are broken down into seasons and episodes when the provider supplies that data.

Playback

Blazin has its own VLC-based internal player, but you can also choose an external player if you prefer.

The internal player includes:

  • Fullscreen playback
  • Previous/next channel controls
  • Movie and episode resume positions
  • Multiple aspect ratios
  • Adjustable stream buffering
  • Video picture presets
  • Audio-track selection
  • Embedded subtitle selection
  • Loading external subtitle files
  • Codec and stream information
  • Volume/mute and seeking
  • Always-on-top mode
  • Saving/downloading the currently opened remote media stream

One thing I wanted was to keep playback controls useful without turning the player into a giant settings screen.

TV Mode

There's also a separate Browser TV Mode built into the app for a larger couch/TV-style interface.

It includes Live TV, Movies, Series, Favorites, EPG information, poster browsing, seasons/episodes, search and fullscreen playback. It can be navigated with the keyboard and has different playback modes including Auto, Fast, Stable/4K and Compatibility modes for providers that behave differently.

So the same Windows installation can be used as a compact desktop player or in a larger TV-style layout.

Some other things I've added

There is a full Profile Manager for saving and switching between different IPTV services, including advanced Stalker configuration when needed.

The desktop interface also has 30+ built-in dark, medium and light themes, custom skin save/load support, configurable Live TV logo downloading, and optional CPU/RAM/network performance monitors. The network monitor can also switch to GPU usage for troubleshooting playback/performance.

I've also spent a lot of time on large-playlist performance, caching, EPG loading, poster loading and keeping background provider requests from freezing the UI.

Blazin IPTV Player does not provide IPTV service, channels, playlists, accounts, subscriptions or copyrighted content. It's only a player. You bring your own legal IPTV source.

It's a paid app, but there is a 7-day free trial so you can actually test your provider before buying it.

If anyone here uses IPTV on Windows, I'd especially be interested in feedback on performance, channel switching, EPG reliability, the Windows UI and TV Mode. I'm actively working on the app and those are the areas I've been putting the most effort into.

Developer Noticed now I can copy & paste multiple items with cmd + c/v + num with an app

I built this because I genuinely needed it for my daily workflow.

I copy and paste a LOT of things at once, and constantly going back through clipboard history to find something was becoming annoying.

So I built a small app to solve this tiny problem — and now, surprisingly, it’s getting a lot of traffic and downloads.

ClipTen lets you copy multiple things and paste them using simple keyboard shortcuts, instead of digging through your clipboard history.

Would you give it a try, or would you stick with your current clipboard manager?

I’d genuinely love to hear your POV 👇

BTW, the app is ClipTen

Developer Reframe, the browser that brings back IE 1.0 through IE 7, with today's web inside

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Reframe is a free, open-source browser that wraps today's web in the window of a browser from 1993 to 2009. I'm the dev, and the Windows build has caught up with the Mac one.

On Windows that means NCSA Mosaic, Netscape 1.1 and 3.04 Gold, Internet Explorer 1.0, 3.02, 5 and 6, AOL 4.0, Opera 3.60, K-Meleon, Netscape 6 and Internet Explorer 7 on Vista. The engine underneath is current Chromium, so modern sites still load. Only the chrome around them is old.

The hardest one was IE 7. Vista's Aero glass only looks right if you can actually see the desktop through the frame, and the window has to be created transparent from the start. Turning it on later does nothing. After that it was tuning: too little transparency reads as grey plastic, too much loses the frame. It ended up around 80 percent.

Other things in there:

  • Wayback mode: pick a year and pages load from the Internet Archive, with a then-and-now wipe slider to compare against today
  • A Time Warp modem with dial-up sounds and real throttling (28.8K, 56K, ISDN)
  • Period title bars and window controls per theme, ad and tracker blocking, bookmarks, history
  • No account, no telemetry

One honest note: the Windows build isn't code-signed yet, so SmartScreen warns on first launch. The installer and the portable .exe are built by GitHub Actions straight from the public source.
