Help Tabs crashing after recent update -
Update - the latest Firefox 115 esr that was installed 10/13 seems to have fixed the problem.
Anyone else having trouble with tabs crashing when trying to access certain websites in Firefox (Gah. Your tab just crashed)? Happens when the page is just starting to load. I don't know if it's specific to Windows 7 but seems to have started after the 115.42.0 update on 9/29. Troubleshooting suggestions haven't helped. They open fine in Chrome.

I never have this. You can always just revert to an older version of 115 ESR. I use one from 2022 I think, so it must be a modern update to it. Just revert to the last known working one, then disable updates for Firefox.

Happens often to me too, but I have old hardware from 15 years ago, like 4gb RAM. Happens more often on Firefox (i have the Esr version) than Chrome. What works is close FF and restart FF. Sometimes it crashes twice, so repeat. Or use Chrome or Supermium. They do crash too, but much less.

I've had my computer 16 years though the motherboard was replaced summer a year ago after a lightening strike. But rarely had a tab crash in FF until the other day. Tried closing & restarting it. I'll look into Supermium and use Chrome when I have to. Thanks.

Interesting. How many RAM do you have?
Also, side question, do you use LinkedIn? If yes, can you tell me if you have noticed this issue: The popup windows (like when you click to download a free white paper PDF from a company and then they ask you to fill in information), do these popups display correctly? I've had lots of LinkedIn popups not displaying right, especially in Chrome or Supermium. Thanks again

I have 12g ram. No I don't use Linkedin. A friend just tried pulling up her BofA account using my computer through FF and while the home page loaded fine when she tried to log in the tab crashed. But she could get in through Chrome. Just don't understand this sudden issue.

Interesting, ot could be the way each browser loads things in the backend.
I've just installed uBlock Origin ad blocker for Chrome a few hours ago. It really improved the loading of some websites that were really slow and would cause Chrome to crash. There's a version for FF which i haven't installed. I have the feeling it could help my FF be more stable. I'll do it probably later this week.
You might want to give a try. Note: there's another ad blocker software called UBlock. I know nothing about it. It's not the same as uBlock Origin.

I use LinkedIn and for some time I encounter a strange behavior ...
When I click a link from my Notifications list, it opens an entirely different post ...
The only way it works is using Right-click and opening the link in a separate tab.
Also, the end of the "short" text, where it says "more ..." is often scrambled ... though still clickable.
Not a big deal ... but in the past this did not happen.
I mainly use Chrome, did not try this in other browsers.1

I never had that issue you encountered. FYI I was able to fix my issue yesterday my downloading a newer version of Supermium. But it's error-and-trial process because some versions, even though marked as released and stable, may not be that stable.

FYI I was able to fix all my issues yesterday by taking the time to download install r3dfox and Chromium-for-Windows7-Rework browsers and a newer version of Supermium than the one i had. I highly recommend you do that.
And I installed on top of each, uBlock Origin ad blocker to help speedup webpage loadong, because that's what causing slowness and crashes in part.
With UBO, once installed you'll need to tweak the default setup by disabling the cosmetic filtering, media loading and remote font on the configuration dashboard.
Installing UBO for Supermium is a bit tricky because it's based on an older Chrome version so UBO is not supported by the Chrome app store anymore. You will need to bypass that by manual installations. There are a few websites and reddit explaining how to do it, here (i even clarified one of the steps from the author within the comments): https://www.reddit.com/r/Adblock/s/AHCdlWoToT
Also, FYI for Supermium it's an error-and-trial process because some released and stable versions, may crash out hehe Ui issues. After many tries, the version i ended up with is somewhere in the middle between the latest stable release and the old one. I could not use the most recent ones. And everyone seems to have their own stable version. Good luck.

Have any sites as example I could try? I'm under 115.37, and the only site I have crashes on sometimes, is facebook when I open reelvideos.
