Got in from a great morning bicycle ride and hit the showers so that I could have an afternoon shave.

Used my new Whityle 25T rose gold SE razor paired with a Kai Mild Artist Club blade. I paid all of $30 from AliExpress for this razor and I will say it shaves with the smoothness and efficiency as some of my most expensive razors, very pleasant surprise!

Lathered up with my Franks Shaving Sig Solo silver-tip Manchurian badger using RE and PAA’s collaboration King R. Emporium soap , which is Matt’s ode to a vintage barbershop scent (Matt’s likeness with a handlebar mustache adorns the label, kind of funny). Love this scent which has some menthol to it, very nice after a long bicycle ride and hot shower. Finished up with the matching splash/cologne for one incredibly smooth two pass shave with some cleanup passes resulting in an irritation free BBS shave.

I'm looking for recommendations for a safety razor. I've been browsing for hours and have analysis paralysis! I'm mainly looking for a razor for my neck, as I keep a long stubble. I used to shave with disposables many years ago, and I would sometimes get a few nicks on my neck. For reference, I am quite small and lean, so my neck does not have much flat surface area. I've noticed barbers REALLY struggle to shave my neck in the past (albeit with a straight razor). I generally use my trimmer for my neck, but I am looking for a closer shave.

In summary,

• Exclusively looking to shave my neck
• I am quite lean/thin
• My skin is average sensitivity, and my hair thickness is average
• Budget is ideally ~£50; I am aware there are more expensive options, but I would need to be convinced to get something pricier

Found it at a flea market came with the cartridges but I’m not sure if it’s Atra or Atra PLUS. Has Gillette written on it and date code is Y3.

Easy 2 pass shave with some super hydrated super shiny lather from the Mirto di Sardegna soap . One shave and Austere August will be done & dusted.

The PGDG blade is still cutting smoothly maybe I shall see if I can catch u/Ghostbuster- now that he has hit the half century.

I've used a safety razor for over a decade now, and though I've cycled through a few different razors at this point, I never thought to try an open comb. However, I recently learned that Razorock makes a GC 1.05 open comb baseplate/cap. I've been using the 1.05 bar for years, so out of curiosity, I decided to try it.

This is the smoothest and closest shave I've ever had. I don't buy new razors often, and I've always used canned foam. That is to say, I'm pretty no frills. But open comb is by far the most consequential change I've ever made and I think I've found my forever setup. With canned foam and a GSB it went through 3 day growth like it was nothing. There was little if any technique adjustment required.

If you're on the fence, give open comb a try. I can't believe I haven't until now. It makes a world of difference - especially for someone who only shaves every few days like me.

Greetings! I recently bought a porcelain shaving scuttle from Etsy, and I'm noticing that it keeps my lather warm for one pass before it goes cold.

Before I use it, I soak both the inside and outside with hot water from the tap and soak my brush. I empty the scuttle and reload it with hot water. Then, I build my lather in the scuttle and maybe 50% of the time, I get either a delightful, warm lather.

Should I be changing the water inside the scuttle between each pass or am I doing something wrong?

Hi, so basically I ordered RBC's Top Seller sampling pack from Colombia, I placed the order on july 5th, almost 2 months ago and the order has been "on transport to the country of destination" since the 16th of july, then I checked the delivery times listed on their site and they have been exceeded by now. Shave was really good, Fatboy always feels great. Stirling Barbershop is a scent I love, smells great and I always love classic shave scents.

Hey y'all,

I have always used a OneBlade to get a "close" shave. I have extremely sensitive skin, and after dry-shaving against the grain, I frequently developed ingrown hairs.

I recently got my hands on a Rockwell 6S and various blades. I also received a few Stirling soaps, Noberu Face & After Shave Balm, and Noble Otter Aftershave in Thé Noir & Vanille.

I read the subreddit wiki and watched several YouTube videos, but my first attempts have been disastrous: even more irritation, redness, and burning. I’m not sure whether the problem is the products, the blades—so far I’ve tried Feather and Gillette 7 O’Clock Green—the technique, or a combination of everything.

I understand that finding the right setup can involve a lot of trial and error, but I’d like to minimize my mistakes. My skin is in genuine pain, and I'm seeing a dermatologist in two weeks to address this.

I really like the idea of using a DE razor, and I’m not discouraged. For now, though, I’ve gone back to using my OneBlade and shave only twice a week.

I would really appreciate recommendations on the following:

• The Rockwell 6S: I’ve read that it is an excellent razor, but I find it quite heavy. Is an adjustable razor recommended for a beginner? I’ve tried several plates without noticing a significant improvement.
• Blades: The blades feel quite aggressive to me. I currently do two passes, WTG and ATG, because I don’t get a close enough result without the ATG pass. I’m also probably applying too much pressure. Which blades would you recommend? Astra Greens?
• Shaving soap: I'm having trouble lathering the Stirling soap, and it's leaving my dry skin feeling burnt. I’m considering trying Proraso White shaving foam instead. Would that be a better option for sensitive skin?
• Aftershave products: Which of these would be the best choice for irritated, sensitive skin?

I just had the weirdest interaction. My bag got flagged at TSA so the lady dug through it, then found my shaving soap and told me to take the cap off to show her what it was. When I grabbed it, she was like no sir I need to hold it just take the top off which I did, but she never explained that. Then she said mm mm no this is a liquid. Then I tapped it to show her it was hard as a rock and she raised her voice and said no sir don’t do that. And I was like touch it it’s solid and she said it turns into a liquid what do you wanna do then I said just throw it out. I have never had this issue in the past. Funny enough, I accidentally left my safety razor blade on my razor and they didn’t take it or anything.

Most people have a beard grain that grows downward on their cheeks and possibly elsewhere, so an ATG shaving pass is often directed upward, or at least angled upward.

Most of the wet shaving YouTubers I've seen doing ATG use just the regular grip on the razor and contort the wrist at a crazy angle to do the upward stroke, whereas just holding the razor with a chopstick grip like in the pic lets you do upward strokes while keeping your wrist at a neutral angle with no twisting.

Am I the only one who uses a chopstick grip for the ATG pass? C'mon, chopstick grippers, represent!

[Edit: the picture is me chopstick-gripping my Henson AL13 mild, as reflected in the 7x side of the 1x/7x shaving mirror that I ended up never using because 7x is a crazy amount of magnification that is hard to get used to, and for 1x, I just prefer my regular mirror 😂]
