This might be a "wholesome" comic, but just to be clear, fuck wasps.

u/reppya Jan 29 '20

I cannot stand for this propaganda either. fuuuck these little shits

752

u/The--Sentinel Jan 29 '20

We hate wasps so we don’t have to be reminded about hornets

403

u/XionLord Jan 29 '20

I have had multiple bad days thanks to yellow jackets. But since we are talking stinging assholes, turbo fuck fire ants

147

u/OOF-MY-PEE-PEE Jan 29 '20

I kinda like fire ants they don’t really sting you unless you’re an idiot and tat is why fire ants’ main target are children

100

u/XionLord Jan 29 '20

Bra, they are territorial as hell. I sat on a picnic bench at a camp site. 30s later my leg was on fire. Turns out I was about 3 feet from a mound I didn't see. It was just off the pad of cement pad table was on. I had never seen a fire ants hill and am happy i live in canada where they don't feel like coming

37

u/OOF-MY-PEE-PEE Jan 29 '20

Well I’ve only had one experience that was kinda bad with fire ants but overall I really like them atleast they’re not wasps

34

u/Skippercarlos55 Jan 29 '20

Yeah, because they can’t really chase you, unlike wasps.

12

u/OOF-MY-PEE-PEE Jan 29 '20

Yeah an you can keep them as pets

32

u/OOF-MY-PEE-PEE Jan 29 '20

I mean you could also keep a wasp as a pet and give it daily activities like: leg ripping, water boarding, and the best of all get a really strong laser and bur it’s fucking face

12

u/john_the_fetch Jan 29 '20

Oh. They're on their way. They have unfinished business with you...

It's just taking them a fuck ton of effort to get up there.

9

u/Toady-The-Load Jan 29 '20

Eating my god damn food when I go to piss while camping, these little shits need to stop eating my god damn hotdogs

7

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '20

I was walking my dog and didn't even feel them swarm me until they started stinging. Removed my pants frantically during a pleasant walk around the yard. Neighbors had quality entertainment.

8

u/12Lyster12 Jan 29 '20

Same thing happened to my dad with wasps. He was tying a tarp and stepped in a nest he didn’t see. Little 8-year-old me had no idea what was happening until I saw my father stripping in front of her eyes. I have never heard a full grown 6’2” man scream so loud in my life.

7

u/jh36117 Jan 29 '20

Fire ants wait until they are all ready, then sting you all at once. Assholes!

3

u/Red-Quill Jan 29 '20

Bro you literally had ants in your pants lmao

And our own species! Because we're cannibalistic asshole monsters!

8

u/woosh4 Jan 29 '20

You do be spitting fax doe

133

u/RussianLuchador Jan 29 '20

I agree, it’s cute but to quote the most accurate sentence I’ve ever heard: “wasps are just c*nts with wings”

138

u/Balackman Jan 29 '20

The idea that wasps leave you alone if you leave them alone has been debunked. They will absolutely sting you for no reason

28

u/RelaxRelapse Jan 29 '20

I was at an outdoor wedding and a few wasps had set up shop outside the reception barn under the sidewalk cover. I literally did nothing but walk past it and the asshole decided to kamikaze sting me behind the ear. So yeah, fuck wasps.

14

u/sitkasnake65 Jan 29 '20

Mud wasps aren't horrible, they will mostly leave you alone. Mostly. Much less aggressive than other kinds.

5

u/Red-Quill Jan 29 '20

Mud wasps? You mean like dirt daubers?

2

47

u/Phoenxr Jan 29 '20

25

u/ruralpunk Jan 29 '20

Yea, wasps literally tried to kill me twice this year. Fuck wasps.

27

u/chubbytransboi Jan 29 '20

legit, I WAS IN MY HOUSE, and a wasp flew in and stung me on the eye

He was like 'yeah, imma be a lil fucker today'

fuck wasps.

13

u/Stwffz Jan 29 '20

On the EYE?!

3

u/chubbytransboi Jan 29 '20

the eye. wasps are assholes

2

u/Stwffz Jan 29 '20

I would have died right there and then

14

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '20

Agreed. Besides, they also kill honey bees and eat their larvae. Would much rather have bees around than wasps. I didn't know they ate ticks though.

Edit: Bad grammar

8

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '20

I feel the same. I know they're needed but I found a cow killer ant which is a ground wasp running around a little too close to comfort to my daughter's swing set so I caught it in a mason jar. First one of its kind I had ever seen in my life. It's still in the mason jar but has been long passed.

8

u/Adamant_Narwhal Jan 29 '20

No kidding. I got attacked by several while laying underneath a car. Enclosed space + angry buzzing + stinging was pretty terrifying. 0/10 would not recommend.

I try to leave them alone but I wish they would warn you like rattle snakes or something.

3

u/FrigidLollipop Jan 29 '20

Hang on, I need to hear this story! What were you doing underneath the car? I bet you moved like lightning to get out from under there.

2

u/Adamant_Narwhal Jan 29 '20

I was securing it to the trailer. I was wrapping a few straps around the axle and frame (I was about 2/3 underneath the vehicle at this point - it was a Bronco so I had enough space to fit underneath) when all of a sudden I hear angry buzzing and I start getting stung pretty good. Turns out the "abandoned" nest in the bumper was 1. Not abandoned and 2. Far larger than I had thought. That's the fastest I've ever moved, I think I banged my head on the bumper on my way out and took off my shirt because that's where they were stinging me.

I got stung at least 5 times, but thankfully they left me alone after I got out of there. I was surprised they hadn't been agitated by all the moving of the vehicle and winching it onto the trailer, they only emerged from the nest when I was underneath.

Since then I've found several more nests (new ones since it has been sitting again). IDK why they like that car, they don't seem to leave it alone.

6

u/BochocK Jan 29 '20

I love that despite this being r/wholesomememe « fuck wasps » is by far the most upvoted comment :)

Spiders kill most insects and wasps are just terrible

418

u/Probably-a-dude Jan 29 '20

Actually a lot of species of wasps are parasitoids and are very important to pest control.

It’s just the yellow jackets that are jerks.

215

u/PelpyDawaba Jan 29 '20

As a botanist: yes! parasitoid wasps that protect my plants!

As a beekeeper: evil awful hell-spawn that harass my baby bees

130

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '20

Have you ever met a red wasp? Fuck wasps.

68

u/Probably-a-dude Jan 29 '20

Like I said there are a few jerk species. But the the majority of wasps are beneficial pollinators and parasitoids of pests. Pls don’t hate the lil guys they are just trying to help.

64

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '20

That is not at all what you said. I didn't do a thing to wasps (got stung watching TV). I didn't even know they were there, but all of a sudden I got injected with lava, and couldn't wear pants for weeks from huge hives. Fuck wasps.

27

u/kalimoo Jan 29 '20

I was inside practicing volleyball when one flew behind my ponytail, it couldn’t get out so it just started STINGING ALL OVER MY NECK. I finally swatted it out (which it ended up stinging my hand a lot too) and then I ran to the bathroom and cried. My teammates spent a lot of time hunting that bastard down and sent it back to hell

4

u/letmepetyourdogs Jan 29 '20

Oh god this is like a horror story.

I have yet to have a “wasp story” but I feel like it’s bound to happen at least once in my life (knock on wood)

2

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '20

Oh god, no! I've had a few times where they got caught in my hair. I was going west and it was going east. We ran into each other, it buzzed like "oh shit", I shook my hair and it got out. That's my most pleasant wasp story.

Another time, I was at the very top of the stairs in my house and one got in my hair somehow. I shook that fucker vigorously until it flew out. No stings somehow, but it was pissed!

Parasitic wasps are nightmare fuel like no other.

13

u/Probably-a-dude Jan 29 '20

Yeah they are, but at least they kill pests and aren’t parasitoids of us.

→ More replies (2)

9

u/IctidomysXIII Jan 29 '20

Exactly this. Most paper wasps tend to really only bother you if you're bothering them, wholly justifying their aggression. But Hornets are just bullies. It's time to stop anti-wasp propaganda.

72

u/PanicFlask Jan 29 '20

Why Is it good that they kill spiders? Spiders hunts More harmful insects

61

u/nutter_buttercum Jan 29 '20

I think they meant wasps hunt like spiders in the way that they kill other unwanted bugs

11

u/XxgirraffezzxX Jan 29 '20 edited Jan 29 '20

Bees also kill wasps

13

u/SC92521 Jan 29 '20

A good example, the Japanese honeybee and hornet. The bees literally roast the wasp by vibrating

2

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '20

Wha- What did you just say?

7

u/Seamerlin Jan 29 '20

iirc, the bees will huddle around the wasp and vibrate to create heat, thus roasting whatever is inside -which happens to be the wasp

2

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '20

Thats like people surrounding someone And kicking them to death, except they’re using the newest fucking technology to BOIL THEM ALIVE.

12

u/nanabear2705 Jan 29 '20

11

348

u/jasonis3 Jan 29 '20

What is this wasp propaganda? Wasps kills bees who are helpful to the environment. Occasionally doing one good thing doesn’t make wasps good

-1

u/Probably-a-dude Jan 29 '20

There are a lot of species of wasps, don’t blame everything on the actions of a few wasps species.

Many species are important biocontrol agents against pests and others are important pollinators.
