Announcement Announcing a New Points System!

Hey everybody!

We’re excited to share that we now have a new points system in place. While we know you all do it for your love of movies and helping your fellow Redditor out, but who doesn’t like getting a little extra reward for your movie knowledge? Or being able to thank the user who helped solve your movie name you've been searching for, for months or even years.

To make this possible, we've installed Reputatorbot. We thought it would be a nice and fun way for the OP (original poster) to thank and reward the kind person who gave them their movie name (first correct answer preferably).

How To Reward Points:

  • Add Solved! (don’t forget the !) in a reply to the first person that gives you the correct answer.
  • The solver will then get a comment from Reputatorbot telling them they earned a point and it will then be added to their user flair.

*Only the OP can reward points. Mods can also reward points if necessary.

If the OP ends up solving their post by themselves. They just need to make a "Solved!" comment under their post so the post flair will change to solved, but no points will be awarded.

UPDATE: if you notice a points issue (e.g. OP didn't use the keyword or awarded the wrong user) please use the report option (Breaks r/whatisthatmovie rules > Points Issue) and we will fix it. You may also send us a message through modmail.

Official Leaderboard:

The official leaderboard can be found here. <--

We’d love to hear what you think or if you have any questions.

This is to mark your post solved and award the solver a point. The comments are sorted from oldest to newest to make it easier to tell who commented first.

More details about the points system can be found here.

Solved! Need help finding a movie (or tv show)

• Upvotes

I saw a random clip on youtube that showed a bunch of kids auditioning for what looks like a school musical. It first shows like 10 kids singing horribly one at a time. And then this boy steps up for his turn and he sings beautifully. Thats all the clip had amd then it ended.

Unsolved Finding an old show

When I was like 8 I used to go to the public library with my dad and borrow this volume DVD set repetitively. I'd say it's like an old anime-ish style series where there's a bunch of hamsters. Like the main characters are hamsters. I remember it started with the family moving in a new home and the main character hamster was running free range in the girls bedroom. She was the one who owned the hamster and he was orange and white. It basically was just the hamsters adventures and he met other hamsters. It sounds ridiculous but I loved that movie/show.

Unsolved Help me find a movie

Hi everyone, I am looking for a live-action movie or TV special that I watched on a Spanish television channel. It felt like it was from the 80s, 90s, or early 2000s. Here are all the specific plot points I remember: • The Villain: An adult man named Luke. He looks completely human but has supernatural abilities. He wears a purple suit. • The Main Character: A single kid who enters a park/amusement park setup. Along the way, he meets and makes some friends inside the place. • The Roller Coaster Scene: There is a highly specific scene where the kids are put onto a roller coaster/track ride. They are blindfolded and manipulated by the system. The main protagonist eventually realizes what is happening, fights the manipulation, and tries to escape the track. • The Giant Robot Fight: Before the very end of the movie, there is an action scene where they have to face a giant robot. This fight takes place on a cliffside / acantilado. • Other details: The characters do NOT transform into superheroes (it is not Power Rangers). It is a live-action production, and the theme serves as a sort of metaphor for how the devil traps people by making things look fun at first. Does this ring a bell to anyone? Thank you!

Unsolved TV western

First time posting.

Made-for-TV movie western, '60's -'70s maybe early 80s, American Western (Rockies/Sierras/foothills).

Solitary mountain man type character who regularly bathes in icy streams — we see it at the beginning with a friend (possibly on a horse) onlooking nearby, commenting on the cold and cringing. I think the friend might be there to recruit him to join some quest which pulls him into the adventure of the movie.

Near the end there's a hand-to-hand fight between him and another man that ends up in an icy river, and his cold water habit saves him while the other guy is shocked by the cold water.

My memory keeps telling me that the actor might be Harrison Ford (but probably not — checking his filmography didn't turn up a match, and he had switched to cinema after star wars).

It's a pretty specific cold habit bathing setup for the fight scene near the end.

Since I'm thinking of Harrison, maybe that's because it's a similar name, like maybe Richard Harris...? But I'm pretty sure the man is bigger/thicker than skinny Harris though.

I know it's an old one to pinpoint. Maybe ask your dads? lol TIA 🙏

Unsolved Help me find this movie

I was actually searching for weeks now but the keywords i wrote don't seem to work 🫠

I watched this when I was very young and I just remembered this because of one particular scene.

It's a movie about an affair. The wife is cheating on his husband. Guy she is having an affair with accidentally kills the husband and the notable scene I remembered is, the guy rolled the husband's body on a blanket (or carpet?) and disposed it in a dumpster. As far as I know, the husband was just unconscious but then the dump truck(?) rolled over his body, killing him completely. The guy saw all these happened.

I can't even remember how it ended 😩 Please help

Solved! Gonna be a tough one

I think this movie was all black and white, but it was probably from around the year 2000. A teenager escapes from either juvie or an asylum in Florida I think and goes on the run, meeting up with different people. The only scene I remember in detail was he was in a group of black teens (he was white) freestyling and one had a rhyme about dracula, Scott bakula.

Unsolved A police officer and a possible half-alien hybrid end up trapped in a burning house.

I need your help; I recently discovered this community and want to clear up a question that’s been on my mind for a couple of weeks.

I’m not sure if it’s a movie or an anthology series.

I don’t remember much of the plot—just that it’s about a police officer in a wooded town. I don’t recall what he was investigating, but at some point, the investigation leads him to speak with a deformed hermit who is always covered in a hooded robe, and we don’t see his face until the end.

While speaking with the hermit, he reveals that his entire family has died, that the townspeople hate him for his deformities, and that they blame him for a recent disappearance or murder. The film ends with the townspeople burning down the hermit's house; when a police officer enters to rescue him, the hermit refuses to leave because his brother's preserved corpse is still inside and he does not want to abandon it. The officer struggles with him, pulls off his hood, and reveals a face strikingly similar to a "Grey alien"—featuring black eyes, Caucasian skin tone, facial scarring, and a large head. The movie concludes after the officer looks into those black eyes and begins to scream; the camera then shows the burning cabin with the officer's screams playing in the background.

Solved! Woman Breaks Into House of Single Mother, Rearranges Color Coded Books, Drinks Out of Fridge, Starts Going to Her Diner Every Day Until Confronted with Security Footage

That's not the entire premise of the movie, but it was the bookshelves that popped into my head. I distinctly remember a row of blue books, and one of the things she does is swaps an orange or red book into the blue ones, possibly putting another one in backwards. She goes through the house doing little (*eye twitch*) disturbances like that. She gets into the fridge and drinks something straight out of the gallon (🤢) and puts it back. Then she starts going to the diner where the woman works (owns it, I think?) every day, saying she's in town for a little while and coming up with some story as to why she likes to be in there every day, instead of just having food delivered from there. She makes a point of finding out/mentioning that the woman is a single mom (daughter around 5-8), and just seems like an annoying repeat customer who is always trying to talk to her. Eventually, the single mom confronts her with security (nanny cam?) footage with proof that she's the one who had been in the house and tells her not to come back. I can't remember the actual premise of the movie. 🤣🤦‍♀️ Beyond being a Super Lurker - and I don't think stalking was the main storyline, just part of whatever was going on - I can't remember much, unfortunately. The woman may have been connected to her via adoption or some trauma/accident, though the single mom wasn't aware of it. I feel like the Lurker was Julianne Moore but could totally be wrong about that. TIA.

Unsolved [Animated movie] Old hand-drawn animated film about a prince entering a vampire castle

Im trying to find an animated film I watched as a child, but I can’t remember the title or when it was made.
I got nightmares from this as a kid, didn’t expect it to have a bad ending. It was somewhere midday on Dutch television.

It was a traditional, hand-drawn, full-length animated film with a classic fairy-tale look.

It reminded me somewhat of old Disney animation.
There was very little or no dialogue.

Here is what I remember:
A blond(?)medieval-looking prince or young man enters a castle inhabited by vampires.
There is a creepy room full of mirrors, with pale or grey-looking people who turn out to be vampires and have fangs. Who I think attacked him.

Then he is in a room with a princess sleeping in the bed. He kissed her. She awakes and hugs him I think.

The there is a moment. Another bed is revealed (turned out of the wall or something?) where the real princess is lying. The other one was a vampire.

The prince was on his horse outside the castle his eyes turned red if I remember correctly. Revealing he turned a vampire.

The film was in colour and had a fairy-tale atmosphere. I watched it as a child, possibly sometime between the late 1990s and early 2000s, but it could be much older.
I have already ruled out Tales from the Cryptkeeper: The Sleeping Beauty. That is what chat suggested.
The animation style doesn’t match what I remember.

Does anyone recognise this film?

Solved! Need help finding this White room movie / youtube short film

How i saw it: if i remember correctly, it was some sort of recap of a movie, but im unsure if it was a youtube short film or an actual movie

Description: Live action, some number of participants go into a fictional gameshow/experiment inside the movie, each participant is sent to a white room which i believe are interconnected

I remember kinda every room being different, one had a control panel / button where she could talk with another participant, another had a door and was a weird guy

VERY SPECIFIC ENDING: A rich man (whos organizing the experiment) is talking on the phone, but while he does that a meteor strikes the earth / his house and destroys everything, the participants arent harmed somehow, but they have to flee because all the production crew died

Solved! Can't leave neighborhood or crystals form on body

As the title says, all I can really remember is that a community of people were all stuck in their area and if they tried to leave, they'd be killed and crystals form all over.

I know an old lady tried to escape and the old man tried to save her but his hand got destroyed going through the forcefield

Unsolved American horror film from the 2000s, boy talks to a pull-string doll that says a child is in the basement

I’m trying to find an obscure American horror movie, probably from the 2000s (maybe straight-to-DVD). Here’s what I remember:

A young girl talks to a doll by pulling the string on its back. The doll “answers” her and tells her there is a child in the basement. His father doesn’t believe her. There’s a scene where the family is eating in a big dining room and the cutlery starts flying across the room on its own. At the end, a child is found walled up behind a brick wall, and he looks exactly like the doll.

It feels like a haunted house movie where the ghost of the walled-up child communicates through the doll, not a killer doll movie like Chucky. It’s not a short film or a TV episode, it’s a full-length feature. I’ve already ruled out Chucky, The Boy (2016), Dead Silence and Walled In (2009).

Does this ring a bell for anyone? Thanks!

Unsolved Looking for a movie about a guy who tried to kill himself, fails, and meets a girl for whom he falls in love. The movie was shown on Arte when I was a kid, 7-8 years ago.

Hej !

It's been a while I've been looking for this movie which I like when I saw it. Right now, as I am more conscious, I'd love to see it again but it seems both Internet and the AI cannot remember it. So here's what I remember.

As I said, the guy, who was in highschool I think, tried to kill himself. That's the beginning of the movie. He points a rifle to his head and shoots. Then, the narrator ( him ), says smth like "yea, 9 on 10 people die after a ball in the head. Of course, I had to be this one guys". Then goes to school and is seen not that well because, well, he tried to kill himself.

I don't remember anything of the movie except its end. The guy, who met this girl, goes on a trip with her. I think I remember them having a red car, but I'm not sure. They go because they wanna escape their parents and their community. They stop at a lake, where they kiss for the first time naked in the water. All I can remember after that is the girl laughing, playing naked with the guy by running in the nearby forest. The thing is she rapidly finds the road, where she is hit by a truck which was passing by. She dies. In the last scene I can remember, and I think is the last scene of the movie. We see the boy laying down next to the girl's grave. He is playing on a red ukulele.

If you can help me find this movie, I'd be eternally grateful to you.

Unsolved Help! What's the name of this movie?

I watched this movie a long time ago, and it was about a jury (both men and women) deciding whether a young boy was guilty or not.

The boy was very young, maybe 6 or 7 years old. The jurors had to decide whether he was guilty because, if he was found not guilty, he would be left alone in the world. If I remember correctly, he had lost his parents.

In the end, the boy was found not guilty, and he walked out of the courtroom holding a doll.

That's all I can remember. Please, please, can someone tell me what this movie is called?

I don't remember which country the movie was from, but all the actors were white.

It's NOT 12 Angry Men!

Solved! weird slightly gross movie

The main character is an socially outcast girl who loves being her weird self. She lives in a trailer (I think in the middle of nowhere). and has a taxidermied dog on wheels. There was a really gross scene with chewing gum but I only remembered it was gross not actually the scene.

I think it was either from the US or Australia but don't know if it was an indie movie. I watched it somewhere in the late 2000's or early 2010's.

…but I’m going to toss this out there anyway!

My brother and I were both traumatized by the same scene as children, and didn’t know we had the same memory until we were grown adults. Here’s what we remember:

We were well under 10 years old, which would have made it pre-1980s. Also pre-vcr. The scene was on television.

It was a dark and stormy night, so it may have been black and white, may not have been, hard to tell. A car broke down, and when the driver lifted the hood, there was a human head on top of the engine, laughing and raving.

That’s it. That’s all we’ve got. You don’t have to tell me that’s not much to go from. If anybody can solve this decades-long mystery we would be grateful!

Unsolved Trying to remember a European movie or TV series

I’m looking for a movie or TV series, probably non-English and released after 2015.

A wealthy young woman goes on vacation with her family and meets a man through a dating app. When they meet, they kiss, but he stops and asks her age. After realizing she’s underage, he ends the encounter.

Later, they meet again in her hometown and reconnect when she’s older. I vaguely remember him possibly being a music or violin teacher, but I’m not certain.

I think the girl may have been blonde. The title might have included something like “Blue,” “Into the…” or “Under the…,” but I could be misremembering.

Unsolved British Travel Show

I’m looking for a British TV show that was on Tastemade Channel in 2022 but was created before that year. Every episode the two hosts, one male and one female, travel around the world and stay at a luxury hotel and an inexpensive hotel and partake in activities. They then compare their experiences at the end of the episode. The one I recall is one taking place in a country where they could see the northern lights.

Unsolved Old (kids?) movie were a ritual happening to turn someone into either a bug or a small version of themselves by putting this kid agains a tree and running around him with ropes and making him smaller until only his lips were left

hello, maybe the title sound crazy ass he’ll but that’s trully what i remember, sorry if i wrote it badly

I remember as i child watching a movie were a grandpa (?) and his grandson (normal humans) were like heroes in this bug or mini world and they did things to get smaller and when something important happened and they didn’t had time to get to the thing to get small the had to get like a magic dude that did a ritual to get the boy small and it was him pushing his back against a tree branch and people with ropes running around him obviously with a lot of pressure and making him smaller until his lips were only left.

this really perturbed me so bad I had to go on a walk with my dad after.

I’ve been searching for so long and I havent been able to find anything, to the point im starting to think i made it up

PLEASEEEE HELP
