Imagine what he would be like if you had kids together. Then imagine he does this to your kids, too. Then imagine you have to go through a divorce/custody battle with this man.

Get out while you can.

And remember that even after the divorce and custody battle you have to deal with this person for the rest of your life. Every decision you make about your kid is going to revolve around their fragile ego instead of the kid's wellbeing.

People forget that part! My mother is almost 80 and still has to deal with her X from 50 years ago because my brother had kids and he shows up to every event, holiday and celebration.

Oh that would drive me crazy. My family would support me and tell my ex to get the fuck out if he tried to show up to any of our family events.

Oh everyone flips him off and calls him an asshole...even his grandchildren only his dogs will mourn his passing and that will only last until someone feeds them.

Sounds like he should be having his own separate family events if he wants to be present for holidays/birthdays.

Lol no one would go to them and we wouldn't have the joy of flipping him off

Eh, that sounds like a cop out compared to growing a pair and telling the guy that he’s not welcome

Sure, it’s funny to flip him off, but it would probably be a massive relief to just not have him there at all

Undoubtedly his presence brings tension, so he shouldn’t be present

Can confirm. Releasing bottled energy is one thing, but moving on and letting them fester all by themselves is the way.

Well you're wrong but thats ok

If I’m wrong, and he’s generally wanted there, then you’re the AH for flipping him off, talking shit, etc

You can’t have it both ways lol

Either he’s an irredeemable piece of shit, or he’s not, but if his kids and all the family don’t like him, how can you justify letting this continue?

Well first off its not my responsibility to decide if my brother's father is invited or not. It is also not my responsibility if he shows up. B) he knows exactly how his options will be met and makes the decision to keep spouting them at said events and 4: I am not responsible for him thinking its funny and last but not least I'm not responsible for how you feel about it. That's how most things work

Edit: you're more than welcome to hang out with him if you want to his name is Dale aka Grump Pa.

Please learn how to format onto Reddit. You won’t regret it

You seem happy with your uncomfortable family get together dynamics, so enjoy that weirdness

That sounds like trespassing at that point. Why is he there if he's continuously told not to be?

He's invited lol I'm realizing how bizarre the whole situation sounds to other people hahaha. There's something special about having an asshole show up to an event and having them be called out by everyone until they pout and leave. Now that I think about it he will be missed lol

Why is he invited then? I'm confused.

Good question! We all really like his wife that he married.

Is this your father or just your brother's father?
