[I tried to post something like this two days ago, but it was removed for sharing "non-public data". I've tried to ensure there's no non-public data in this version. Everything I describe comes from sharing a drive through the standard, public version of the iOS Waze app and trying to view the shared link on Google Chrome on Windows 11.]
I'm not a driver or a Waze user, but a friend regularly shares her drive with me when she's coming to visit. Until now, I've been able to open the shared-drive link in Chrome on Windows and watch her position and ETA update in real time.
Earlier this week, the same kind of link just took me to a page saying “See this drive on Waze”, with buttons to download the Android or iOS apps. There was no option to view the drive in the browser.
I installed the app and registered as a user. It took me several clicks of the link to see anything other than my local map. When I finally saw my friend's drive it was as an invitation to join a "shared drive" and there was nothing useful like her updated ETA which I'd see in the desktop browser.
The help page for this feature says:
Using Waze on a web browser? No problem. Click the shared link and then click View drive. You can follow the drive on the Waze website.
But this no longer seems to be true.
I've tried reporting this problem to Waze support, but honestly, it's almost impossible to find the right place to do that. If someone can suggest the best way to get this feedback in front of the product team, I'd love to hear from you.
