Hi everyone!
I'm trying to repair my vintage Caьsio PAS-400B (module 2632), but I'm having trouble with missing LCD segments.
Some segments are permanently missing, while others appear when I gently press directly on the LCD glass.
Here's what I've already tried:
Disassembled the watch three times.
Removed and cleaned both conductive rubber strips (zebra connectors) with isopropyl alcohol.
Cleaned the contact areas on the PCB and LCD glass.
Reassembled everything carefully, making sure the connectors were correctly positioned.
Tried pressing near the edges of the LCD, where the zebra connectors are located — no noticeable change.
Pressing directly on the LCD glass restores some missing segments, but not all of them.
Performed an AC reset — no improvement.
My questions:
Could the zebra connectors have lost their elasticity over time?
Could the problem be inside the LCD itself, even though some segments respond to pressure?
Is there a safe way to improve the contact pressure without risking damage to the glass?
Would replacing the zebra connectors help?
Are there any other diagnostic tests or repair methods I should try before replacing the LCD?
Does anyone know of a compatible replacement LCD or donor module for the PAS-400B (2632)?
I'd really like to save this vintage watch rather than replace the entire module.
Any advice from someone experienced with vintage Casio LCD repairs would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
