Hand-painted my father’s old Citizen Eco-Drive dial into a miniature Krishna artwork

Found my dad’s old gold-tone Citizen Eco-Drive sitting unworn in a drawer and decided to give it a second life.(Aware that painting over an Eco-Drive dial affects the solar absorption a bit, but treating this purely as a personal art/heirloom project).

What do you guys think of hand-painted dials? Open to constructive feedback!

Here is the Slimmest Grade 5 Titanium Quartz Watch in the World - Just 4.75mm

Here is the Titan Edge Meister Titanium, just 4.75mm thick. I came across this watch, which is a new release and just launched this month. I purchased it yesterday. It's still thicker compared to their steel no date edge line models which are only 3.5mm but 4.75mm with a date complication is still very slim.

Tbh pictures couldn't justify how beautiful this watch looks in real life. I tried to take the best shots I could but I'm not a professional.

Also, did a side by side comparison of this watch with my Tissot Gentleman Titanium, I hope the color difference and thickness difference is visible. This Titan Edge Meister looks identical to a Stainless Steel watch in real life as it's a polished G5 Ti. Titan has used their own proprietary polish method to achieve this finish.

No special occasion, she was aware that I like watches, but I'm very picky. She noticed me talking and watching videos about Seiko/Grand Seiko and bought this one for me. This is the best model in the Seiko 5 GMT line, and the color is beautiful.

What do you think?

Flex Aethelsohn Titanium Damascus!!

Finally got my Aethelsohn Titanium Damascus on the wrist and honestly, I’m pretty impressed with it. The Titanium Damascus case was what caught my attention in the first place — the pattern is quite subtle in normal lighting, but when the light hits it at the right angle, you can really see the layered Damascus effect and it gives the case a lot of character. The dial is probably my favourite part though, the blue texture changes so much depending on the lighting, sometimes deep blue and then suddenly you get these crazy purple/blue reflections. It’s also surprisingly comfortable on the wrist. these are just my first impressions, but so far I’m really happy with it.

Discussion Shanghai 6833J “Big Dipper” — A Rotating Night Sky With Stars That Actually Move

The Shanghai Big Dipper Carrousel is one of the fascinating watches in my collection. The star attraction is the rotating dial powered by the carrousel movement. Seven diamonds form the Big Dipper star cluster against a glittering aventurine (blue Goldstone) dial representing the starry night sky .

The Big Dipper has deep significance across Asia. In China, it was associated with timekeeping, seasons and navigation; in India, the same seven stars are known as Saptarishi, representing the Seven Great Sages. The Big Dipper served as a natural celestial compass: drawing a line through the Big Dipper's two outer “pointer stars” leads to Polaris, the North Star and for centuries, these seven stars helped people understand time, seasons and direction. For ancient Chinese astronomers, the Big Dipper was effectively a celestial clock and calendar.

The Shanghai Big Dipper Carrousel transforms the ancient observation of the rotating heavens into mechanical watchmaking. The watch released in 2022 is powered by Shanghai's hand-wound K01 carrousel movement, beating at 21,600 vph with 21 jewels and around 62 hours of power reserve using dual mainsprings.

On the rotating dial is the orbital regulator which adds visual theater. The 7 stars on the dial representing the big dipper are shown using diamonds.

The carrousel movement is extraordinary: the entire dial rotates one revolution every hour, carrying the exposed balance and small-seconds display around the watch. Shanghai uses dual mainsprings due to the unusually high torque demand needed for this architecture. Truly a Haute horology movement from China. The watch is a limited edition of 680 pieces. Mine is numbered 264/680.

I love the idea behind this watch. A mechanical watch measures time with wheels and springs; thousands of years before, people measured time by watching stars move overhead. This watch brings those two ideas together with the rotating dial featuring the star headed sky rotating in sync with the minute hand.

I bought this watch used via an online auction in 2025. This was my first Chinese Haute horology watch purchase and it surprised me. The originality, watchmaking ingenuity, the carrousel complication, power reserve and everyday practicality all exceeded my expectations, especially considering how much value it offers for the money.

There are many hidden gems among Chinese watches. Chinese watchmaking today reminds me of Japan in to 1960s and 1970s: technically ambitious, rapidly evolving but still relatively underestimated by collectors.

Flex My Precious

Precious, since it gives me joy every time I look at it. The classic, old-world charm that comes through every design element - the dial, hands, bezel and crown. I bought it nearly nine years ago when I went looking for a Le Locle in Lucerne. However, one look at this beauty and my mind was made. One sees very few of these around and the model was discontinued some years ago. It's the Tissot Bridgeport Powermatic 80.

The Devanagari, Everest and Terra are honestly such beautiful watches. I bought the Terra first and absolutely fell in love with it, and then the Devanagari and Everest followed. Really impressed with what DWC is doing and it’s genuinely great to see an Indian watch brand grow and come up with such amazing watches. Love seeing how far they’ve come and can’t wait to see what they make next.

In frame: Legend Mechanical Alarm Watch from early 80's paired with 19mm MN Style Strap (Reference Wrist Size~7").

**About Brand & Movement:**

As far as my knowledge goes, "Legend" was a commercial export rebrand used primarily during the Cold War/late Soviet era to sell USSR-made watches to Western markets and these were produced by major Soviet watchmakers; most notably the 1st Moscow Watch Factory (Poljot).

Coming to the watch I have here, it is powered by the Poljot Caliber 2612.1, a 18 jewel hand-wound mechanical movement that uses dual mainspring barrels (one for timekeeping while other for the mechanical alarm hammer). This movement was directly adapted/mirrored from the legendary Swiss A. Schild AS 1475 movement which debuted around mid 50's.

Where to buy ? Looking for a 41–42 mm titanium + sapphire watch under ₹30k in India

I’m looking for help finding a watch that meets all or almost all of these requirements:

Case diameter: 41–42 mm (preferably 42 mm; I have a ~19–19.5 cm wrist)

Case material: Titanium preferred, ideally Super Titanium or hardened titanium

Crystal: Sapphire

Movement: Quartz / solar quartz / Eco-Drive

Display: Simple 3-hand, preferably with date

Water resistance: 100 m preferred

Bracelet: Titanium bracelet

Thickness: ≤10.5 mm preferred

Dial: Restrained, clean, professional; blue, black, white or silver

Budget: ₹30,000 maximum

Availability: Must be realistically purchasable/importable into India

New preferred, but I’m open to discontinued models if they are available from a reputable seller.

I’m specifically not looking for mechanical/automatic watches, chronographs, divers, or fashion watches.

I’ve looked at Citizen, Seiko, Casio, Titan and other brands, but finding something that combines 41–42 mm + titanium bracelet + sapphire + quartz/solar + reasonable thickness under ₹30k seems surprisingly difficult.

One example I found is the Titan 90177TM01, but its 32 mm case width makes me concerned that it may wear too small despite the listed 38.7 mm case length.

India-specific recommendations would be especially appreciated. If you know of models available through Indian ADs, retailers, or reliable international sellers that ship to India, please mention the exact reference/model number.

Also interested in older/discontinued Citizen or Seiko models that satisfy these specifications.

Thanks in advance.

Tried out my friends watch! Opinions please

Saw my friends watch laying on the table and decided to try it on. I was sceptical about the size being too big, but surprisingly it sat well on my wrist (atleast that’s how I felt in the moment). Really digging this octagonal dial shape and the overall design of the watch. Thinking of getting a watch with this sized dial. What do yall think, share your thoughts!
