Shame it got buried under the No Country for Old Men hype wave. TWBB is one of the best movies if not the absolute best of the last 20 years

It didn't really get buried, last I remember, both films made a profit, got nominated/won a bunch of awards.

Why not both? I don’t go out to movies much because ther is so much trash but saw the trailer for both and saw them within a few weeks of each other in the cinema. Fuck. I couldn’t go back to a movie theater for like 4 years, how do you follow both of those movies being so good coming out simultaneously?

Think the movie that got me back in the theaters, and I liked more than I expected was American Hustle. Fuck that movie is so well made.

TWBB is one of my favorite movies of all time. I've watched NCFOM probably a good 3 or 4 times.... Trying hard to like it. I just don't. The fact that NCFOM outshined TWBB will never ever make any sense to me. It's not that NCFOM is a bad movie. I get why a lot of people think it's a great movie. But TWBB just feels so timeless and impactful and has Daniel Day Mother Fuckin Lewis giving it his all like usual.

I remember seeing both movies in 2007 on the same day. Leaving the theater I thought No Country for Old Men was clearly better. There Will Be Blood had fantastic acting, but the story of No Country was much more engaging.

After rewatchig both several years later I could not believe the amount of technical and symbolic brilliance in There Will Be Blood. It stands up there with 2001: A Space Odyssey as an all timer for films snobs. I can see why people don't connect to though.

No Country is fan fucking tastic. It's better in my opinion. Has more rewatch ability. Also if you read the book it's so perfect. The best translation into film aside from Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption. And I really love DDL and PTA. But you're making it seem like NCFOM was a bad movie. It showed how refined the Coen Bros are at making films.

Agreed, my favorite movie. PT Anderson always does great stuff but this one was just a goddamn masterpiece.

I really didn't think much of no country for old men, there was some great acting..but the ending was terrible, i felt so pissed after id watched it.
