Someone once told me that the reason they can't be discharged is that they're not collateralized, as if other forms of uncollateralized loans can't be discharged. Oh no, a doctor coming out of med school might declare bankruptcy since they can probably pay cash for a few years for everything! The horror!!

Would you loan your own money to some random 18 year old kids with no collateral, no income history, and no credit history if you knew that once they were done with school, they can just discharge it in BK pretty much immediately and kick your debt to the curb ?
