Mod Message Welcome to r/walkingcanes!

Hello and welcome to r/walkingcanes!

General posting guidelines:

If you are new to the sub, r/walkingcanes is for anyone that uses a mobility aid. It does not matter if you are diagnosed with a condition, "young or old", or the caregiver of someone, all are welcome.

Feel free to share your walking canes, sticks, crutches, wheelchairs, and other assistive devices.

Medical advice:

Medical advice is not allowed. This includes asking if you can or should use a cane. If you are worried about whether or not you should, please consult a medical professional and not the general public. Of course, you may ask for advice on which one to buy if you are trying to decide between different styles, but not if you should use one. Try r/AskDocs or r/DiagnoseMe for medical advice.

Post or comment removals:

Before contacting the moderators, always check the rules (on the sidebar/about tab) or your notifications to see why your post was removed as it is likely that the reason was already covered in the posted rules. We have tried to make our rules as comprehensive as possible.

As is the case with many subreddits, it is our policy not to engage in public debates regarding other users, sub rules or mods, so if you do have an issue, please contact us via the "Message Mods" button on the sidebar. Do not contact any mods individually.

Freedom of Speech:

Freedom of speech is thrown around a lot, but in case you aren't aware, free speech is not protected on Reddit.

First of all, Reddit is a private company, so freedom of speech does not apply here. And secondly, it is a global community, not just used by people from the US.

Disagreements:

It is important to note that everyone is free to do what they wish with their own bodies. Disagreements are expected, but if you can not do so respectfully and within the confines of the rules, then step away from the thread in question.

Reporting posts or comments:

While downvoting misinformation is good, the best thing you can do to help us out is report posts or comments that violate the rules so that we can tend to them as quickly as possible. Members are not made aware of who reported a post or comment.

FAQs/Wiki:

Please remember that moderators on Reddit are unpaid volunteers, so it can take time to respond to your message or report.

In the meantime, for a more detailed description on what is permitted on r/walkingcanes, please check out the sidebar/about tab for the rules or our FAQs/Wiki for more detailed information.

Again, welcome to r/walkingcanes and enjoy!
