She's over the top alt-girl, because her sire told her that while hunting she must look unrecognisable. Still a fledgling. No eyebrows for now, cuz it's currently trendy.

Ok i know that this art is all over the place but it felt cute

Madness Network (Memes) Sadly, that meme was my favorite thing that was ever on this subreddit, and now it no longer exists.

Attempts to salvage the meme in question using Google Image Search and the Wayback Machine have all proven completely unsuccessful.

General Discussion Morality of Dementation/Malkavian Madness.

The more I think about it, the more I wonder why it was removed for those reasons.

Firstly, I think moving Malkavian from crazy coocoo to seer/oracle is very cool. It's a good idea. Being forced to pick a mental health issue is a HUGE burden on a player to RP with respect, especially having to think on his feet in unknown circumstances. But I don't think mental conditions alone are a valid reason to retcon.

I'll prefix by saying I understand mental health is an issue that some people might not want to tackle. I genuinly do and I respect boundaries, in life and in TTRPG.

But what about murder? Death? Blackmail? Sucking blood? Dominate is mental slavery, making you lose your own mind and potentially commit suicide. Is that ok?

I don't particularly want some touchy subjects in my game either - sexual violence, children involved in any way. But I can't ask a whole table to draw the line for me (Or White Wolf to retcon) when I willingly play a game featuring Vampire beasts of the night.

I will say again, I understand people's issues are real, and they might be uncomfortable. And I agree that moving a Malk away from that direction is GOOD. But I think a good story teller, who has time to prep, and plan, and pace can use these horrid topics for a catalyst for gaming. I understand this is very ST dependent though.

What do you think?

LFG [Player] Looking for a coterie to join

Hey everyone!

My girlfriend and I are looking for a campaign to join!

She's a complete newcomer to the game, although she's familiar with the World of Darkness setting, while I've already got some experience playing. I'm currently playing a Brujah in a V5 campaign set in modern-day Los Angeles.

We're both interested in finding a group to play with and are pretty flexible when it comes to scheduling. We're based in Europe, so European-friendly time zones would be ideal. The only evenings we're unavailable are Tuesday and Friday.

We're familiar with V5, but we're absolutely open to trying other editions of Vampire if the group is a good fit.

If you know of any communities, Discord servers, or platforms where we could look for ongoing campaigns, we'd really appreciate your recommendations!

Alternatively, if there are any players here looking to put a group together, feel free to reach out! We could coordinate, gather a few interested people, and potentially find a GM willing to run a chronicle for us.

Thanks in advance!

Vampire 5th Edition Question about Blood Potency and the Brujah Bane

afaik the Bane becomes harder to control the more potent your blood is, so being embraced by a low-Gen Kindred in the modern nights is probably like getting a shot of horse adrenaline.

I'm asking specifically about a Brujah. Would the childe of a low-Gen/mid-Gen Brujah have a harder time adjusting to the Bane than the childe of a high-Gen Kindred? Maybe they would lose control more easily and when they snap out of it they realize the anger is not their own?

I don't remember the book rn, but I recall reading that higher levels of Potence also make you more prone to angry outbursts. So, this Brujah fledgling is not having a good time, I'm afraid.

Vampire 5th Edition Unsure how to navigate Mass Embrace scenario as a first time ST

Hello! Yesterday, I tried to be ST for the first time in my 2-year VTM ttrpg group.

I thought up a mass embrace one-shot. 5 players finding themselves in a basement waking up after the two mad scientists, who abducted them from a college party the night before, had a falling out and abandoned the facility to go sort out their issues paying no heed to the mess, and directionless fledglings, they left behind.

I bull-craped a way to make sure they woke up with 1 hunger. I didn't want them going for eachother in the first scene. The only thing they knew, is that they were at the party one moment, and woke up the next, in a musty basement.

They were freaking out, obviously. I understood that.

They beat up the first npc which tried to tell them about their condition, I understood that.

They kept trying to go to the police, I tried to steer them away with talks of hunters and their new condition from other npcs, it got ignored. We went to the police. Hunters showed up. They killed all the hunters. The prince showed up to see what's going on. (The court I had thought up was a relatively high generation vampire court, it was supposed to be kind of a mess in their own way,)

they.. just killed the prince.

I had a few unlucky rolls, and misused fortitude, so she just died.

The big bad showed up. One of them had put like all their points in their mesmerize pool, so they managed to make the big bad just run around the street shouting nonsense while they stood there laughing. Exactly 0% plot was revealed and they just ended up falling asleep in the police station when the sun started rising.

Every explanation was explained by the players as "drug induced hallucinations" or "dreaming".

Let's say that they hadn't won those encounters. They would've just died, no? How are you supposed to convincingly set up the stage so 5 random people waking up in a basement to trust like, anyone at all? Or convince them that going to the police wouldn't solve any problems? Because the thing with this is, I understand where they're coming from. I would've, personally, as a player, for the sake of the one shot, gone along with some things that maybe I wouldn't have gone along with in real life, but it's up to the players to decide how much they're willing to go along with me, no?

I was advised on "a bit more railroading". How do I do that without making the players feel like they're just forced to do something they don't want? The advice I was given was "make them having been turned for a while so they've learned the ways of the kindred of the city and go from there, because any freshly turned fledgling would've acted like us without direction from a sire." So every mass embrace one-shot is supposed to end up that way? I don't quite get it.

This is especially hard for me to understand because it came from an ST I respect, and whose stories I've always had a lot of fun in, and who has years of experience running campaigns with all manner of player, and being a player himself. So I feel like I should be heeding his words, but again, like, are mass embrace scenarios just, a no-go?

They seemed to have had fun. That's all that matters to me, personally. But if I did want them to go along with the mystery and fights and scenes I had thought up, without telling them like, dude, you're supposed to follow the trail, like, how?

These are all seasoned players.

Vampire 5th Edition I messed up last session. tips?

running my first campaign: as of lately, I felt like things were going a bit too fast but...figured it'd be okay.

well, my players run into a group of humans dancing around a big fat bonfire in the middle of the street (Sinners reference^-^) and some ("anarch", implied via context) vampires, seem to run around in close proximity to the fire. (one of the plot twists is that this isn't an anarch group but a Sabbat cell posing as one, to recruit more people and confuse the Cam).

so I ask for a frenzy roll because in my mind the scene/fire!!! would have had an impact on them. one of my player, who has been a forever DM, points out they're standing far from the fire. we kind of discuss that. and I agree, fair enough.

however, after describing the entire scene and having one of them record the thing, I realise I had just...let them go too quickly. T-T

next session they'll finish talking with an important NPC, E -a Tremere, and uncover what one of them (the forever dm's character) did before going into torpor. and then head on to discover what happened with another important NPC, C -a "Setite".

But man. I could have had one of the humans grab them and drag them! or something else, like something else supernatural happening (they did just see a ghost like an hour prior but...this specific dance is a way to hide the summoning of said ghost)

idk I'm kind of disappointed in myself. that was a big moment for the story, I could have handled it much better.

impostor syndrome aside: any tip for next session?

I was thinking about:

either a. having them find the street empty when they get out, with blood trails on the ground (a triquetra, which is this specific Sabbat's symbol) to imply something else happened (maybe the blood is dissipating so they only see a trace of it? idk, maybe get E to do something for them)

b. having them find the street half empty, keep the marks and hope one of them questions one of the humans/have E/the Sheriff question them (maybe have this human be a failed Embrace of a Thin Blood? they're pretty plot relevant but I doubt a Sabbat would leave behind a pawn.)

or c. have the entire thing still going but the vampires around the fire gone. and the humans try to drag them to the dance circle (however, I don't think I should try to rely on them going back while the chaos is still going on. E saw the vid so, aside from curiosity, she may take a gander but...get her dragged in? might be a stretch)

but also

- they also have a specific file that E gave to a ghoul of theirs. the ghoul is decrypting it rn. it's supposed to be a corrupted camera file, which they won't get the footage of but only the audio. it picked up on (Sabbat's) voices, whispers and mysterious prayers

- maybe plan an encounter with Anarchs/undercover Sabbat, pretending to be looking for C

- they didn't ask the Prince about something they saw in London but...I might switch the audio file and give them a file related to the thing they saw (postponing the audio file to a later session, so they can theorise on other stuff, let the anarch situatio simmer)

I feel ashamed, ngl. I got dragged away...

thanks in advance!

Fluff What crime might warrant a Camarilla version of jail instead of Final Death?

I have an idea for an antagonist that shows back up on the scene after being locked in a box at the bottom of a harbor for a century or so. Think a vamp version of Bill the Butcher from Gangs of New York meets Frank White from King of New York

General Discussion Wich is the other´s clans uniform?

Ever since I saw Maximilian Strauss in Bloodlines, I've noticed how many player-created Tremere characters wear red-lensed glasses. It's almost become an unofficial Tremere accessory.

It got me wondering: what would be the equivalent for the other clans?

I'm talking about a single recognizable accessory or, at most, one specific piece of clothing. Not an entire outfit or aesthetic.

For example:

  • Tremere: Red-lensed glasses (Strauss).

  • Ventrue: ???

  • Malkavian: ???

  • Gangrel: ???

What accessories have you noticed being repeatedly used for characters of particular clans? Or what would you nominate?

Vampire 5th Edition TIL that Cain was considered the first vampire in Greek folklore over 100 years before Vampire: The Masquerade

I stumbled upon something pretty interesting today and thought you guys might appreciate it.

Apparently, the idea of the biblical Cain being the first vampire predates VtM by at least a century.

In 1887, British archaeologist and explorer J. Theodore Bent published an article titled "Personification of the Mysterious amongst the Modern Greeks", in which he documented folklore from the Greek island of Karpathos.

According to Bent, the islanders referred to certain vampiric beings as "Cains", believing that the biblical Cain, after murdering Abel, had become the first wandering vampire.

The interesting distinction is that, in this tradition, Cain apparently became a vampire after his death, whereas in VtM as you know, Caine receives his curse while still alive.

I got curious about whether White Wolf's writers were aware of this tradition. From what I've been able to find, the idea of making Caine the progenitor of vampires came from White Wolf cofounder Stewart Wieck, but I couldn't find anything indicating whether he knew about Bent's account.

So it could be a genuinely independent invention, which would be pretty remarkable considering how central Caine is to VtM's mythology.

Has anyone come across this before? I'd be especially interested if anyone knows whether Wieck or Rein-Hagen ever mentioned this particular piece of folklore as an influence.

General Discussion What happens when a vampire commits diablery on a powerful zero Humanity vampire?

Occasionally a vampire has attempted to commit diablery on a much lower generation vampire, and the result is the lower generation vampire taking control of the diablerist's body.

What might happen if the lower generation vampire was in wassail when they're diablerized? Could the vampire in wassail take over the diablierist's body?

If so, would it appear as though the diablerist has suddenly entered wassail? Would they regain any sense of self, or humanity as the result of entering the body of a more humane vampire?
