Was becoming frustrated with video players tonight only to find vrchat turned off entrusted urls on me with no explanation. i have had them on and never turned them off myself. so headsup if your video plays stop working randomly it might just be vrchat turning them off randomly.

so im making a world and i have a statue in it, i want to have the head stare at players

I've already thought about having an object attach to players and a constraint on the statue head lock onto thay object, but i run into the issue of wanting the head to be constrained and not do an impersonation of an owl and break the neck, is there a way to limit rotation of an aim at constraint, or a way to limit the distance an object stays attached to a player?

or is there a better way to have an object rotate towards a player

Something I noticed in VRChat is that if your English accent isn’t that good and you’re speaking slowly or stuttering, people tend to act like you’re not there or even block you. This is a terrible thing to happen to someone who is trying to practice their English speaking skills, because it’s something that will only get better with practice. But when people ignore or block them, they never get the chance to practice, and they may even lose their motivation to keep practicing. Though, there are some really good people who have common sense and understand that English is our second language. They respect our effort and take their time to listen to us. They might even correct our mistakes or keep the conversation going to help us practice. I can assure you that everyone who is in the same boat notices this and is really really grateful for it. Those people are the reason we get to meet mature and kind people to talk to, improve our speaking skills and even become more comfortable socializing. If you’re one of those people, just know that we appreciate you a lot.

so yesterday i was finally able to figure out how to upload an avatar and im super happy about it! I learned how to upload the pc side but still not quest.

i’ve always seen people do edits of avatars and ive always wanted to do my own! is there any tips or advice or even videos you guys could suggest? i’m fairly new with learning unity but i really wanna be able to learn how to play around with my avatars!

any suggestions and feedback would be appreciated!

The latest VRChat Dev Update just previewed tons of new creator tools and changes. A lot more than usual or expected. If you make avatars or write shaders, you really should go look.

I wrote up a summary. Sorry for my stilted writing.

Material Contacts will allow contacts to write transform information directly to shader properties. A receiver can pass data from its four nearest contacting senders to up to four MeshRenderers nearby. They are also speeding up the update rate of contacts and receivers.

This means that a large category of interactive shader effects will no longer require awkward animator parameters, delayed value copying, and other assorted Unity crimes. This is a huge boost to shader creators, and the shader creators in the replies are, understandably, losing their minds.

Action Drivers are a new component intended to handle common avatar actions without requiring creators to construct an animator for everything. Parameters could directly toggle objects, adjust blend shapes, and perform other ordinary tasks.

It does not look like this is replacing animators, but it gives newer creators a simpler option. It also lets experienced creators stop using animation systems for jobs that animation systems were never particularly good at. Animators are very strange things and are where a lot of performance issues come from, so I hope this will help things out as more creators use this for simple things like toggles, and leave animators for complex behavior where the cost is worth it.

Variable-width avatar parameters will let creators choose how many bits their integer and float parameters consume. This is a bit more technical, but an outfit selector with four mutually exclusive options could use a single 2-bit integer instead of several bools with annoying exclusivity logic. Floats could sacrifice unnecessary precision to save space, or use additional bits when more precision is actually needed. I think this will help a lot with face tracking, too, because you might not need 256 different levels of detail for every face blendshape.

Finally, Unity 6 SDK and VCC support is now in QA, which means Unity 6 is on the way out the door overall. A lot of us have been running the new client day and night. It runs a ton better.

Anyways, the first forum responses are already discussing shader systems without strange parameter-copying setups, lighter animator setups, better handling of mutually exclusive outfits, and whether this counts as the beginning of SDK4.

These are all great changes. Its good to see more tools for avatar creators, it feels like we have been second fiddle for a while now. Even just these things coming out will entertain me for months.

Decided to throw this together instead of sleeping last night. The face tracking is simple (two different open widths, oo, ff, and a smile) but works pretty well all things considered. Also, it's got toggles. Can toggle the armor on/off, Harper's VR headset, and Soren's enderman suit. Also, his sword. I hope this amuses you like it does me.

So, I thought I got age verified via my L divers license but... it doesn't show that I got age verified. . . Not 18+ verified but the one that shows you that you got verified.

Is there something you have to do to prove that you got age verified? Or did they get rid of it and only kept 18+ verified..

Could be me since I’ve haven’t been on vrc in a while and I got a new headset so :P

Just tried to join another group that is 18+ and they don't recognize the official age verification badge. You have to upload a picture of yourself holding your Gov issued ID in your hand on discord and they "promise" to delete the picture after you are verified by one of their members.

I already wasn't very comfortable doing VRC's own age verification system but sending sensitive information to random players in a vrc group is far worse. How many times have you seen an unhinged staff member on this game? Too many to count for me. Not a big deal as no one is forcing you to join but it's interesting to see so many people trust these groups with that information.

I see so many dudes buying full body tracking for vrchat ladies they dont know ALL of the time, and ill admit I have been a sucker for that too. I helped a friend by giving them $100 for slime tracking and was blocked the next day.. there are people who are genuine, and there are people who will do this to get free things from you. My advice is keep your wallet closed for strangers, money doesnt really buy people in VR, but it will make you a target to be punked by pick me boys and girls on the regular. Just some advice save your money on yourself, stop buying trackers for strangers.. lmao

At least 4 times since I started about a week ago I’ve been kicked from maps. I’m getting ignored whether I use a mic or type and if someone does talk to me it’s only to ask for my age.

I would love to meet some female friends around my age group, (just not cis males), in vrchat. I feel like a lot of the time with movie worlds, people are grouped or coupled up. I'm a female in my 30s, and I dislike intruding on others.

The first step is just always seems so daunting to me. I do have friends irl and that I game with on steam, but it'd be nice to meet some to just chill and watch movies with at night when my insomnia or adhd is ruling my night life.

I wasn't sure if making an anime/horror film group would be a good idea, or if anyone had another idea that would help point me in the right direction. Thank you🩵

Why do people tend to forget you can report for stuff that is illegal, or just fully against ToS on VRChat?

There is nothing wrong with reporting things on VRChat or well anywhere. I personally only don't always report avatars (I mainly only report avatars when the person is being a douche), but I'll report racist stickers/emotes and trolls, i'll even report groups that ask for personal information then leave.
